[Well, this is...happening. This is a thing. This is your life now. The Commander is expecting you to just up and kill one another, and then try to get away with it. No big deal, right? You guys can handle this. You won't fall for what she has. She's clearly an idiot. A loud idiot, but still an idiot. She's not going to get one over you.

...Right?

In any case, the Commander's quarters are now open for anyone who decides they can actually stand to be in the same room as her, but beware - any favor you might ask of her is going to come at a price, and who knows what she'll ask you to do if you decide to gain a boon from her. Unless you're a suck-up like Baku - then she'll apparently be flattered. Maybe that's a good tactic to use?

Texas Man Tries To Fight A Robot

[Jonathan's not in the daze he spent yesterday in, now. Indeed, he's up at a relatively sane hour, cheery about... something. He's even whistling, occasionally supplementing it with those five-second bursts of really annoying noise.

Were that girl whose name he still can't remember here, she'd probably be trying to steer him away from whatever it is he's got planned. But she isn't, and he's had over a day now to process that whoever's got him trapped here might eventually go after her, and that's got him a little bit blindingly furious.

At some point when there aren't too many people in the corridor, he's going to pause outside the entrance to the mess hall and wait for the robot tracking him to pause as well. Once it does... well, aiming for the camera is pointless, hitting a machine eye isn't like hitting a live eye. He's not sure if its center of gravity is where it would be on something not a machine but still about that size. But damn it, he's pissed and these things are creepy and if he's honest with himself, really honest, the kind of honest he almost never is... he's kind of hoping for a fight, when he throws himself at the thing in an effort to shove it over.]

[The camerabot makes a weird sound at the aggression, which moves it several inches. Then, that's followed by a click. The lens/eyes on its top start to rotate somewhat ominously.]

[Sure would have been great if his father had ever told him how to tell for sure when a robot's about to try to kill you. (Just don't question how the witch who resurrected Badly Romanized Elizabeth Bathory had a robotic suit of armor sitting around in 1917 for that man to have fought. This idiot's from the franchise that gave us Frankenstein's monster chasing the Wolfman around Dracula's back yard with a chainsaw, after all.)

But that clicking noise and that spinny thing it's doing can't be good. He doesn't try to stab at the moving lenses, but batters at them with the hilt of his knife as best he can, trying to jam them in place.

His life might be in danger! But not from other people! And if so, that's something familiar! ]

[Oh, that was not the best idea. Instantly the lenses stop, and one of them starts shooting lasers.]

SUBJECT: JONATHAN MORRIS. THE TECHNO. WARNING LEVEL 1. CEASE AND DESIST.

[Oh, this IS familiar! He gets one last hit in before the message is finished, and for a moment he's so tempted to just keep going, to aim for the lens that fired and see if he can't break it -

But... here there are no potions, no statues of some nameless angel to go pray before and be healed. Hell, he still hasn't found a first aid kit anywhere here, and he did look.

For all that his partner isn't here, he knows she'd have told him to back off, and he does, even dropping the knife off to one side.]

So, you little bastards can talk, huh? Or is that just for when we're being naughty prisoners?

WARNING LEVEL 2 ON STANDBY.

[Once the assault stops, the camerabot falls silent, save for a humming noise.]

You know, that's not an answer.

[He is regretting dropping the knife, now. Also, he's somewhere between concerned by and curious about the humming noise it's making now. Did it slip a belt somewhere? Can it shoot things besides little bolts of light? He has no idea, but taking a step backwards seems like a smart idea.

[strangerpeople]

[YEAH THAT'S RIGHT STEP RIGHT THE HELL BACK LITTLE MEATBAG

The lenses adjust with whirring noises, watching.]

[I AIN'T ASCAIRT OF NO TIN CAN WITH DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR

...MAYBE

Okay no the whirring thing happening is really unsettling now and damn, he barely even scratched the thing, didn't he? Very slowly, he edges towards the knife.]

[strangerpeople]

[Yup. It looks like whoever made these reinforced them with something very strong and impervious to damage.

The lens slowly follows, clicking as it does.]

[backuphero]

Well crap....

[It's definitely watching him. He moves, and it moves. He's just going to take this very slow, then... and only start to reach down, he's not going to grab for the knife.]

[strangerpeople]

[Still watching. Still moving as he does.

Tread carefully, whatever you do.]

[backuphero]

[Okay, he's just going to straighten back up and back up several steps. Slowly, with his hands in clear view.

If it somehow takes the knife he'll be a little bit annoyed, but it's not like he had to pay for the thing. Just means editing the log upstairs, that's all.]

[strangerpeople]

[Its not taking the knife. However, it's not taking its eye off Jonathan, either.]

[backuphero]

[He stares back at the machine, and then takes one cautious step in the direction of the knife.]

[strangerpeople]

[Watching you.

what are you doing with dat dere knife bruh]

[It's not alive but it's not dead but it's staring, it's creepy, where's a cute witch with Chain Lightning equipped when you need one?

He just wants to pick it back up. But this is... if he touches it, he's getting shot, probably. He's in a Mexican Standoff with a robot, and he might be the one to back off. Not before taking one more half-step towards the knife, though, not before seeing what that provokes, if anything.]

[strangerpeople]

[Its eye dilates, but otherwise, for the moment at least, it doesn't seem to react to Jonathan's moves other than to watch.]

[backuphero]

[Is it... okay, no, that definitely did just focus different, he didn't imagine it.

But it hasn't moved again. He steps up to the knife, but pauses before doing anything like crouching down to pick it up.]

[strangerpeople]

[It makes no aggressive action, but it’s definitely w a t c h i n g.

You gonna try and hit it again there son?]

[backuphero]

[Nope. He's got as much out of this as he's going to without maybe getting really hurt, so he's just going to reach over with one foot and kick the knife behind himself.

If there's no immediate response after that, he'll just retreat, warily. If there is, well. That depends on what it is.]

[No other response other than it watches you retreat.

That's right, get outta here!]
