[Fifteen X-Passes. You've finally done it. You can now go free. However, the price has been steep. Too steep.




True, you can leave. Anyone can, now. But simply leaving may be a bad idea. After all, who knows what else Zero has up its sleeve? Who knows what's outside of the HMHS Gigantic? How will they survive? How will they eat? And those are the easy questions that need to be answered. After all, the mystery of Zero, the mystery of Zack, the mystery of who is the cause of all of this and why-those things are also seemingly impossible to answer without some preparation. There's also the new area that's opened up that may yet yield more for the survivors to mull over.


Rushing is surely a bad idea. It's time to prepare. Take the time to get ready for whatever is outside. Stock up on supplies. Write what needs to be written. Say what needs to be said. Get ready for the possibility that whatever is out there, whatever the answers are-they will not be easy, and they will not be quick.


More than that, but-where are all these cuts coming from on your body? Hm. Maybe you keep bumping into things or scratching too hard. Did everyone save Roland get super clumsy or something all of a sudden?


Well. Maybe the answers to all that are just around the corner. So. Let's get ready. The end is near.

I've had to focus on the content of your evidence reports for the most part, but the style has always been 100 points out of 100.

[She delicately receives the certificate with her fingertips and reads it over, eyes crinkling with fondness.]

Roland-kun... This doesn't embarrass me at all. Far from it. If things were different, I might have dubbed you an honorary Devil Hunter myself. [The Gigantic Task Force... Maybe it's better to let that idea stay forgotten. That proposal of breaking her comrades' arms feels so long ago. That they all receive these titles will make her happy to learn. Makima stays light on her feet, looking up from the certificate and asking another question.]

I'm not proud of my mineralogy either though. What is carmelian? Orange? Like my eyes?

[ Roland nodded easily to that question, feeling entirely proud of himself for having put all of these together like this. He wished he had a bit more time but he'd make do with what time and knowledge he had of matters. ]

Really? Then this is even more fitting, as you strike me as someone who could probably take one down if given the right tools.

[ He exhaled a soft hum, drawing on his memory of that particular gem. ]

It's a dark-colored crystal with iridescent flecks, and represents patience, inner power, hope, and strength. I truly believe it fits you quite well.

[ It wasn't something he had really thought much about in the long run but he's pleased that Makima likes how his style looks all the same. He'd gotten better at reporting things in evidence since arriving, and it probably showed at some point. ]

A Devil Hunter, hm? That wouldn't be too different from what I do, now that I think about it. [ He can't help but chuckle softly, musing on that for a moment. Though he's also glad to hear that she wasn't embarrassed by all this. ] I highly appreciate the sentiment, though.

Carnelian is actually a diversely colored crystal, ranging from a reddish-brown to your eye color. [ That was admittedly what made him initially choose it, but then there was much more to it. ] It's known for being a stone of courage, endurance, energy, leadership, and motivation.

[ Perhaps that itself would very much tell her just exactly why he'd chosen this exact stone for her. There could truly be nothing better in his eyes. ]

I do too! I'd truly hate to not be able to keep in contact with my daughter after we leave here!

[ There's no escaping the dad!life and he truly cares VERY much for her, so of course Roland looks absolutely thrilled that she has a plan for going forwards. ]

That's wonderful, Ritsu! I truly hope he can get you a new one that is at least just as cute as the you I see now.

[ Naturally? He almost looks to nearly sparkle at the sheer idea that he would get a chance to experience such a thing where others may not. Mostly because as much as he'd love to share it with his friends - especially Olivier - he knew it would cause problems for someone to be aware of such technological advances. ]

I will absolutely look forwards to it!

[ Roland nodded, not wasting a single moment in that response. A completely confident, but happy smile on his face. ]

I do. There's never been a doubt in my mind about that.

Absolutely!

[ What once had been a nasty, swollen bruise on his face was definitely no longer swollen up and was just a bit of an ugly color now. Leagues better than what it once had been at the afterparty and he was no longer at all limping or anything of the sort. ]

I'm actually feeling in a wonderful mood and better than I have felt in days.

[ Maybe thanks in part to that he's not suffering from the cuts everyone else was, but y'know. Not thinking about that. ]

We'll just have to make sure there's a way, then. [She's already considering if it might be possible to repurpose some of the weird stuff they've been dealing with to make interdimensional phones or something...]

We'll see. He didn't say much about the method... I hope I get some input on how I'll look. But I guess I'm not opposed to whatever I end up with.

[Beaming- she is predisposed to science fiction for obvious reasons. But she also just thinks Roland will enjoy it.] I will warn you some of the vocabulary in sci-fi is complicated and difficult - technical jargon, you know? The important thing is to realize nobody actually knows what it means, it's just supposed to sound like science we don't have.

[Absolutely no one knows what it means to bounce a graviton particle beam off a main deflector dish, so she doesn't want him to get tangled up in that kind of detail.]

...Is....there a reason you chose citrine, in particular? I don't think I told you yellow is my favorite color.
