WEEK 1

WEEK 1

[Well, this is...happening. This is a thing. This is your life now. The Commander is expecting you to just up and kill one another, and then try to get away with it. No big deal, right? You guys can handle this. You won't fall for what she has. She's clearly an idiot. A loud idiot, but still an idiot. She's not going to get one over you.

...Right?

In any case, the Commander's quarters are now open for anyone who decides they can actually stand to be in the same room as her, but beware - any favor you might ask of her is going to come at a price, and who knows what she'll ask you to do if you decide to gain a boon from her. Unless you're a suck-up like Baku - then she'll apparently be flattered. Maybe that's a good tactic to use?

Whatever you do, try not to murder the bread again. The Bread Did Nothing Wrong.

There are fifteen strangers in this place.]

[Nagisa is actually of a history to more or less know his way around the food here. Sort of. Which means he can at least help others!

It's space food - intended for astronauts. It's generally designed to be eaten directly from the packaging.
illusionarymelody: (016)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-19 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
[And the only space Vita is familiar with is the element. Her world is definitely still isn't anywhere near the point of exploring space or even considering the existence of other planets.]

Space food? You mean it's made of the element? The color sure is off for that. And what's an "astronaut"?
theserpentsmiles: (All these things I can do without)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-19 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
[E...lement...? Space is made of elements, but it's not one by itself...]

No, it's... Astronauts are people who explore outer space. It's more of a place or environment than an element, and you can't really...make anything out of it...
illusionarymelody: (004)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-19 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
But it's also one of the higher elements. Hmm, what did they teach in Sunday School again? [Vita pauses for a moment like she's trying to remember, but she's more trying to think of how someone who isn't a Witch would explain this and just gives up, she'd give herself away if she tried.] Oh, I can't remember it was too complicated. So what's outer space then? Is it some space other than all the empty space in this room?
theserpentsmiles: (It's time to burn it down)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-19 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Higher...? Okay we have clearly not taken the same chemistry class. How to explain outer space....maybe like he would to a particularly intelligent small child? Basic concepts.]

Sort of. This room has empty space, but outer space is emptier. It's everything beyond the planet's atmosphere - above the sky, so the 'empty space' isn't even full of air. And there's no gravity, so everything floats.
illusionarymelody: (004)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-19 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Vita as a look like all that just flew over her head, and here she thought she was pretty knowledgeable about the more secret knowledge of the world.]

So you're saying that these astronaut people fly above the sky?
theserpentsmiles: (It's time to burn it down)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-19 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. [Close enough at least.] When you look up at the night sky, you're looking into outer space. ...And into the past, but that gets really complicated to explain. [And science is his weakness!!]
illusionarymelody: (014)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-22 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
Into the past? Why would you even want to do more than admire the pretty view?
theserpentsmiles: (Who break their backs slaving every day)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-24 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Why do people do anything? [Philosophical, but also rhetorical.] Science. There's a lot to discover out there.
illusionarymelody: (013)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-25 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Very true and apparently today I have discovered weird food.
theserpentsmiles: (It's time to burn it down)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-25 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
It shouldn't taste too weird, at least. The texture will probably be weirder.
illusionarymelody: (009)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-25 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
I think at this point not being poisoned is enough.
theserpentsmiles: (Default)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-25 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Poison is unlikely, at least, even by accident. Both are meant to last a really long time without going bad.
illusionarymelody: (008)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-25 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
How long would they last then?
theserpentsmiles: (I won't be pushed around)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-27 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
A while. Months, probably. Space food might be able to last years.
illusionarymelody: (004)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-28 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, and without a refrigerator? That's quite amazing.
theserpentsmiles: (Who break their backs slaving every day)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-28 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Soldiers wouldn't necessarily be anywhere they could refrigerate food well, right? And in space... Well, nothing preserves like a vaccuum.
illusionarymelody: (006)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-29 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, some of those military airships are pretty nice and well stocked.

[The Noble Alliance sure didn't skimp on the good food even during a war.]
theserpentsmiles: (Well you're not the only one)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-07-29 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Airships? [Still a teenage boy here. Still finding that really cool.]
illusionarymelody: (015)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-08-01 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Okay, she's finding it odd that someone who knows about the place above the sky is enthralled with airships.]

Yes, ships that fly in the sky. There's Prince Olivert's ship, the Courageous which is the fastest ship in the Empire and completely bright red. The Noble Alliance's Pantagruel is the largest and is larger than this base, but the inside looks like a noble's manor home. Of course there are also passenger and military airships and even some nobles have their own personal vessels.
theserpentsmiles: (Well you're not the only one)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-08-01 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Airships are different.]

So you do mean actual flying ships... We have airplanes, but they're not like that. Rockets aren't the same, either.
illusionarymelody: (004)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-08-01 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, they are made mostly to travel in the air, but could travel on the seas too. But what is the difference between an airship and airplane?

[Woman from weird fantasy world is confused. But could be worse, she could enthrall him by speaking of Soldats and Divine Knights.]
theserpentsmiles: (I won't be pushed around)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-08-01 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Airships only exist in fiction, back home... They're like sea ships - cruise ships, even - that fly. An airplane is a metal tube with wings; it flies, too. Airplanes are strictly transportation, though - you're expected to stay in your seat as much as possible.
illusionarymelody: (008)

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-08-01 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I wouldn't say our airships are like sea ships, but they can act like one. Passengers can even go out on deck while in flight. If I remember right, there's something about an orbal field that develops while in flight to make that safe to do. People are allowed to walk around, but asked to be seated when the airship is landing or taking off. I have to say that compared to that sort of travel, a metal tube with wings sounds quite unpleasant.
theserpentsmiles: (I won't be pushed around)

[personal profile] theserpentsmiles 2018-08-02 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
That there even are decks already makes them more ship-like than planes. Planes aren't awful or anything, they're just....not for riding without a particular destination? Like a cruise ship might be its own trip, but you can't do the same with a plane.
