FINAL INVESTIGATION
[Well, your time, your anger, your losses have led up to this.
It's time to go, and that blue card will give access to the floors above. In particular, there is the floor Barbara mentioned before the throne room, which seems to be a good idea to check out beforehand.
Indeed, it's much like the previous floors the Strangers had lived in, only smaller.]

[There is another elevator in the area, but that is inaccessible. Even using Marie's card doesn't seem to work on it. Hm. No matter. Marie's card works on all of these rooms, so it's fine, right?
In any case, if there's answers to be found about just whose in charge - and what in the world is going on - this is the last chance of finding them. You've all gotten this far, and as your teams descend on the rooms, you can feel the end is near. Hopefully, that end is not that of the universe - or of Ivy.
Good hunting, Titled.]

[Why yes that's a frantic, far more than half-crazed look on Jonathan's face. He'll wait for Baku to finish, he can wait to see how this goes, but... he wants back what was taken from him, all of it.]
no subject
[ A faint smile. ]
Assuming this works.

[He's controlling his breathing. Be proud, C, he's not even shaking!
Okay maybe he is a little but finally....]
no subject
Here, sit down. Unlike Mister Baku, I'm going to give them all back to you one right after another. I think it'll be faster that way, even if the emotional impact might be worse, it's better not to have all those holes, right?
no subject
Yeah. I... yeah. Just... don't even let me sit up, just slam it all through, I... I don't know what I'm missing besides some combat training and her name.
[He's missing a lot besides that. Like who that ghost was in life. Who his daughters are. That they aren't vampires anymore. The time between finding a locket that revealed the first two things and the third.]
no subject
[ You're next buddy. Baku's gone and you're up. ]

[Regardless, Jonathan's going to settle onto the table and fit the band over his own forehead, and slide his hands under the metal bands obviously meant to hold someone's wrists. He doesn't know if he's lain here before, but... god, that thing's pointed right at him, it's like the biggest needle in the universe....]
J-just do it before I flip out, okay?!
no subject
I highly doubt that's necessary. You'll be fine.
[ And he's going to put in the first tape without any more hesitation. Now stay still like a good boy so he can do the others in order. He'll keep going until they're all done. ]

He does understand. He does understand. There was a reason his father did and didn't do all those things. And Wind, God, he - and his daughters - the way to awaken the whip, to do what his father - to do what killed his father, what he didn't want him to do -
Even with that heavy weight settling in on him, he unclips the band over his head and sits up, and even as he's openly weeping, he laughs.]
Her name. C, buddy, you're not gonna believe it, she's - my best friend, she's - Charlotte, her name's Charlotte! Charlotte Aulin. And she was right about my father, she was right about everything...
[He's laughing and crying all at once. He rubs at his eyes with his hands, but he can't seem to stop the tears from falling. He didn't know how much was gone. He didn't know how glad he'd be to have it all back.]
no subject
Charlotte. Her name is... really...
[ Why can't he stop laughing? ]
That is... a hell of a coincidence.
[ DAD SAID ONE WHOLE CURSE. ]
no subject
I know, right? Of all the things... of all the things.
no subject
[ He smiles wide, despite himself. ]
What else did you remember about her? Please, don't spare me any details here. I'm curious.

[And hoo boy is he going to regret saying that in a while, but for now -]
She's a witch. Probably the most powerful of our generation, definitely the first to cure vampirism in any generation. We've known each other since we were both tiny, as far back as I can remember she's just there. We learned to fight alongside each other starting when we were just kids, she's basically my sister. She's the Belnades - well, Fernandez, on her mom's side - to my Belmont... sorry, that probably doesn't mean anything to you, just... there's almost always two families involved in taking down what we have to fight. And we're each from one of 'em, and she's as powerful as Sypha who fought along with the Legend. She throws spells, I use the whip.
[His smile falters visibly at that, but only for a moment.]
She keeps me in line when I'm being stupid, or she did before I got here. Won't let me be rude or a jerk to people who don't deserve it, and sometimes even people who do. I might need the help a little less now, but... she's always had my back. I always had hers.
[And his smile falters again, becoming something smaller and sad.]
And... she's in love with me, and I have no clue what to do about that.

She sounds like something out of a beautiful story. Does she make you happy?
no subject
[He touches the brooch pinned to his collar, and grins.]

I'm glad for you. She sounds like a wonderful person, your Miss Charlotte. I wish I could meet her. Anyone that smart would surely be a treat to have a conversation with.
