LET THE GAME BEGIN
(SYD -> HNL)
[Well, good going, Yurick and Vita. You dun fucked up. Now it's a murdergame. Still, could be worse. It could be a certain screechy female commander in charge, right?
In any case, you are stuck here. It's frustrating, and as time goes by, being here is going to wear everyone down. Not to mention the scent of those damn leis just won't go away, even after you've tossed them aside. The air permeates with it, and combine that with recycled air that only makes things more irritating and pungent, the limited supply of essentials, the limited space even on this large plane, the horrible electricity situation, *and* the threat of the murdergame now ever-present over everyone's heads?
Things are not fun right now. And as time goes by, it's going to only get worse. It's just a question of how - and whether there's any escape before it becomes too much to bear.]
((OOC: Welcome to the week! We'll be doing things a little differently here - we will have a sub-heading for investigations to happen, where players can send their characters of to find clues. Just head over there and use the OoC map to help guide your characters to major clues if you so wish!
Of course, you can always court disaster for your character, courtesy of the RNG, if you so wish! As a result, there will also be a sub-heading revealing everyone's level of injury, which will start at a default number for everyone (except those already injured coming in, or injuries inflicted before the pilot's call!) at the beginning of the week! This can be raised as you see fit to inflict pain on your character - just remember to TAG ANY COMMENT THREAD FOR THE MODS if you want injury rolls! Just don't go too high - your character may not survive if you do!
GOOD LUCK! And remember - have a nice flight!))

Oh I'm quite aware of what someone looks like when they are shot. I'm also quite aware of what it is like to die because I was the first victim in our group! I just wanted all of you to avoid making the same mistake I did.

I am going to say this once, because I feel like shit, and I'm going to try to stay polite because you seem like you've normally got a good head on your shoulders.
There are things here that none of us understand. None of us. Maybe you're too much of a fucking egghead to realize it, but comparing the present to past experiences is just a thing humans do outside of fucking books. It's how we work. I know there's a... there's some single-word phrase for it, but I can't remember that because the person who usually remembers that shit for me is apparently being held prisoner by the same lunatic who's got us all here!
[He pauses, forces his shoulders down, forces himself to unclench his hands. He forces himself to breathe, deeply, a few times, holding one hand up to indicate he's not done talking yet.]
I don't want to believe that, but if that thud was a body falling out of nowhere, then I don't know what the fuck we're dealing with. What I do know is this: all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to ignore it and turn on each other. Maybe you're lucky, and you live in a peaceful world where there's "no such thing as evil". Maybe your world doesn't have things like atom bombs or vampires or the Klan or Franco and Hitler. Maybe you're that fucking lucky, hell, maybe there wasn't even one Great War. But where I'm from? Men like that son of a bitch who's jerking all our chains fucking thrive on people turning on each other. It's how Spain turned into the kind of country where one side of a war was killing people for going to church, and the other was doing it if you loved the wrong people too openly. It's how Germany turned into the fucking charnel house it is right now, and it's how three years ago my home started rounding up people and putting them in goddamn prison camps just because they looked like you!
I... God. I'm sorry, but you can believe what you want about what Vita can do when we're not in some kind of... when we're somewhere normal. The last thing we need to do is start targeting each other. That was Akira's mistake, and... not just his. That bastard is expecting us to fight each other. If we sit down and lay out what we all have figured out... there's one of him and a whole fucking load of snakes, and fifteen of us. Maybe eleven who can actually fight something like that, but I can tell you right now, that's better than doing exactly what that bastard wants us to.

Oh, please, you think I can tell Texas from Tennessee because I didn't live in the US half my life?
[He exhales deeply as he takes a moment to put his hands on his hips. Jonathan has given him a lot to think about. Hiyori's really a little surprised nobody else is quite as sick of Vita, but he is used to playing the bad guy.]
Look, fifteen of us work together against the Captain, that's all I've ever said. That doesn't even change now that we know he has at least one gun! [Hiyori raises a hand all conversational.] You've been with me on this, Jonathan - remember your whole chain whip idea? That was great! Vita is the one whose message as far as I've heard begins with "don't kill each other" and ends with "I'll wave my magic wand". No substance in the middle. Her perfect record of necromancy at home still isn't a consolation if we all die including her before she can ride her broomstick there - you get that, right?
I'm not burning Vita at the stake. I don't want to split the group up or whatever happened in Lord of the Flies. She can even come to the meeting, especially if she has anything to say that isn't how great she was in a "normal" place. Or, you know, if people decide my own meeting is some pompous crap and make everyone something else, that works too, I'll show up. I just feel safer knowing there's people who admit there's the slightest chance not everything will be sunshine and kittens forever. OK? Like you.

[She's smiling a devilish grin because she knows very well that she's the more rational one of the relationship.]

Oh. Wow. Gosh. What a surprise. I had no idea.
Next you're going to tell me you see Yurick as a brother.

You'll be lucky if that's all that happens. You say I don't have a grip on reality? You seem to be missing that people dying is our bait. I don't need a way to predict the future to tell you that at least two more will die before this is over. Do you even get it? Someone is going to take that bait and kill and they will justify it with the fact that the lives they save are worth the death of one of us.
Then the rest of us will be forced to figure out who did it and vote. If we're lucky we'll get it right and the murderer will die, and fail at saving their loved ones. If we're not? An innocent dies in their place while the rest of us watch, but in exchange if the bait is true some people are saved. If it's not then all we get are two more needless deaths. On top of that we'll have wasted time we could have spent trying to figure out how to get out of here and save some of those people.
I don't care what you do. It's clear that our best course of action is going to be to find a way out while preventing anyone from taking the bait. All I've seen of you is behavior that is likely to result in more people dying, if not all of us.

You...
[She wants to impress this reality on him that he rejects like heavy water. The killing intent deep within their hearts like fish darting between coral and anemone - how is her "fairy tale" supposed to calm him after that?]
You, you really see us all as, as, as— [His voice is downright boyish as he scrambles for a word, racking his brain for that part of the profile, ah, he's got it!] Your backup singers!
[She sees talking to him as the real waste of time, then. He feels so pathetic and forced to retreat. Besides, technically there is a meeting to prepare for.]

I know this because that's exactly what Akira did. He traded my life for the lives of his supposedly dead friends. The bait we were given was that we'd be allowed to bring back our dead loved ones. You think the past isn't important? Well it tells me that people are perfectly willing to trade the lives of a stranger for those they care about.
But I see your issue here isn't so much what I'm telling you. It's that for some reason you hate me. So I'll go ahead and leave you to your meeting and I won't be there.
[And with that, she's going to head over to Jonathan before she leaves entirely.]

[He runs his hands up over his face and back through his hair, leaving his eyes closed for a few moments of deep breathing.]
She is the only reason I have to believe that it might ever be "sunshine and kittens" again. You're right, we're on the same page - so don't waste time attacking a woman who is trying her damnedest not to break. She died. She died at the hands of somebody I trusted, somebody who looks uncannily like... Ren. I...
Look, she's trying to keep hoping that we'll get out of here. I'm trying to do the same thing, and now... God, Almighty God, the bastard has my family if that list is real. Sure, you're supposed to "cleave to your wife", but... damn it, I talked him into coming back with me, talked Eric into that too, I...
[He shakes his head, his face a mask of horror.]
I want to work with you. Don't go after my wife for dealing with being in a confined space way too damned much like the place we met in the best way she can. This isn't a situation anybody can deal well with, it's - it's not -
[It's not nausea that has his voice breaking off with a look on his face like someone dropped a brick on his head, there, so don't worry, Hiyori! Your shoes are safe! He's just realized something.]
It's not normal. When he was on the PA at first, when I was asking - he talked right past what I asked about this being somewhere in normal reality. Forget the magic and everything, what do you know about quantum barriers, quantum physics... dammit, Charlotte knows this stuff better, but... sealed dimensions of reality, does that make any sense?

[Hiyori just mouths the name empathetically in the middle of this. The detail is so bizarre that he's starting to vaguely comprehend just how negative Vita's subjective experience must be, like a swan paddling under a lake.
And of course, Jonathan would care about her feelings more than anything.
The phrase Almighty God is not so much triggering on its own as the first of several minor sentiments that have a dubious effect on Hiyori. His spine straightens up - basically like a wind-up doll, getting pulled tighter and tighter. He's got a lot of practice, so resuming his smile isn't even all that sudden and jarring a motion.]
You're such a respectable family man. I admire that, I really do.
[So... to business.]
It's all science fiction to me, but I have a grasp of the theory, sure. If poor Dazai-san wasn't in the premiere class when Satanichia-sama and I were there, he must have come from some other "space", however unusual that might be. A "parallel" version of the plane where people go back and forth. When you talked with the Captain though... I think you overstated how unusual the environment is, you know? There's thunder outside, we move up and down - the moon's hue could just be an alien thing, less unusual than some of the beings here, frankly. [This means Kedamono. Hiyori is very sorry but gosh he's disorienting.] It's kind of strange the Captain stays in the cockpit, so we know where he is, if he could "hide" the same way he "hid" Dazai-san. And the centrifugal forces just seem way too elaborate for a specially prepared pocket dimension, don't they? Putting it all together, I'm pretty sure we have to be quite careful because this is a normal airplane insofar as someone has to literally fly the plane.

He has to focus. If he keeps his mind wrapped around work - well, survival - it can't wander to what everyone else might be doing. If he can live in the moment, the past and the future aren't frightening at all. He used to be good at this.]
Okay, putting everything else down for now... let's go with the weather not being part of this, or the moon. If this is some kind of... I don't know what you'd call it, some kind of bubble of space outside of "reality", maybe he only needs to be flying one of the plane, or maybe - could something this big be controlled by radio? I'm the first to admit that I don't know anything about the way things work in the future, a lot of it seems like crap you'd see in a Buck Rogers knockoff. But....
