THE SECOND PROSCRIPTION
(CW: Coffins, claustrophobia in general, skeleton bones)
Most interesting.
[Suddenly, a bright light from above lights up, same as last week, from the bone chandelier. Once more, the light only seems to shine on one individual, as the Elder Steward appears, looking pleased as punch.]
Excellent, excellent. You have condemned The Noodles to die by quite the majority, so certain you were of her guilt!
[There is a long, long pause. Finally, though, the Elder Steward does something unexpected. First, he throws his hood off to reveal--huh. A rather young-looking and handsome figure. Odd.]
But...
[A slow, fanged smile appears on his face, before he turns to Eric, raising a toast with a glass of something that might be red wine-or something else.]
You were wrong. Congratulations, Fast. You have exceeded my and Our Lady's expectations. You have damned an innocent woman to the cruel death you deserve for your crime, and your fellow shall be forced to watch. For this you shall be rewarded protection for that special person, as promised.
Now.
How does it feel to know what you've done, hm?
no subject
[With that, the Elder Steward puts his hood back up, and seems to melt into the darkness. His voice is jovial as he disappears.]
Do take some food with you. It will do none of you any good to starve merely over your principles, would it?
[And with that, the shackles release.]
no subject
She could do that for Felicity because who gives a fuck, but Zelda...
She takes Zelda's egg, but does not eat it. ]

he's going to look for Hydrangea.
this world took Franciscus from him. he needs to process this]

[Instead what he does once the shackles are released is attempt to run towards Eric. He has nothing to throw at him, but maybe he can throw himself or Eric -]

There aren't really words for what she's feeling right now, none that she can put her finger on, but does it matter?
She can mourn later, wail into her pillow and hate herself and everything else for how all of this has turned out.
For now...
Jun's dashing forward, but Emma's taller, able to close the distance between the two of them faster than Jun can close the distance between himself and Eric. She throws her arms around his middle, hugging him from behind with all her strength to hold him back.]
No! Don't you dare lower yourself to his level!
no subject
[He can hear the high voice, practically feel the pigtails digging into his back. But...]
He's an enemy combatant. He's already destroyed someone's world. Do you want him to destroy more?
no subject
[She's not letting him go, though.]
That doesn't mean we have to be the ones to take him out.
[She drops her head down beside Jun's ear so she can whisper, and he'll be able to hear how her voice is shaking, feel a couple of her tears hit his shoulder.]
We can be the ones to make him suffer. But we don't have to give them exactly what they want to see.
no subject
[... Shit, she's crying. What did Machi scold him about that one time? He lowers his hand to be over one of hers and squeezes it gently, trying to breathe.]
no subject
That was to protect, not out of blind revenge.
[And she hates to do this, but she has to.]
Is this what Kana would want?
no subject
[His body freezes up again, and he lets out a sob. Tears hit his glasses and then the floor, and his body goes totally limp.]
no subject
She's just going to drag Jun back, away from Eric. Eric had better believe she's going to keep her eyes locked on him the whole time, though, glaring daggers.
He'd better hope this was worth it.]

Red for killers. Blue for innocents. There's no way he's touching the 'food' again. He'd rather starve. But he does give the supply a baleful gaze - he's hungry, and he knows they taste good, Eric directed him to them a week ago...but he won't take any. He feels sick to his stomach again, anyway.
Speaking of taste, the taste of iron has been intensifying the whole trial. It's only now that it's over that he notes why, and spits out a bit of blood.]
no subject
You okay?

Mouth hurts...

Not even going to ask how you ended up with splinters in your tongue.
[But he will go ahead and carefully remove what he can see.]
I have some medicine in my room that should help with that.
no subject
[He can admit that! Almost everyone knows, so if Thanatos did ask, there wouldn't be much point in hiding it.]
Thanks.
no subject
It's no problem. I think you'll like it since it comes from the island. How about you meet me in the dining room?
no subject
Yeah, I will.

Arthur will see that it is quite a large fruit, definitely more around the size of a watermelon. It's mostly blue fading into a peach color at the top. It's skin looks like it is covered in scales. Thanatos will go ahead and start cutting off a part into some bite sized pieces. The fruit itself is a darker reddish pink color, a bit like grapefruit but more red.
Once Arthur arrives and he's got a few bite sized pieces cut and placed onto one of the plates, he'll offer it to the boy.]

Except in the Labyrinth, it would probably try to eat him, not vice versa.
He eats hungrily. He's not touching the soul eggs, after all, so he has to eat whatever else he can. At least his stomach's settled a bit since the trial's immediate aftermath.]
no subject
[And Thanatos is going to grab a piece as well. He'd been saving this in case someone got hurt and once cut into, the fruit won't last long. This one is actually fully ripened as well, so it should heal pretty fast.]
no subject
It's soooo good!
[He's no gourmet, but he does like food a lot.]

Jun is running towards him, but he's stopped by Emma. Something's said about making him suffer, he can't really hear it. Somehow, Eric finds himself on the ground. He wasn't struck by anyone, but he fell.
Jun didn't kill him. Yet.
It still isn't comforting to consider that "yet".
Eric is slow to stand, and slower to leave. He lingers by the platter of souls for a moment, but he takes nothing with him when he leaves.]
