THE THIRD TRIAL

[After the finale clues are found, the ticking which we totally didn't forget to add to the investigation post in everyone's head stops, and the Elder Steward's voice echoes through the webs.]

Excellent. Now, please, proceed to the ossuary! Do not tarry.

[Just like before, the Ossuary rumbles upwards to accept the remaining Strangers, with bats hassling those who take too long. Just like before, chains drag everyone to their respective coffins, and in the center are souls for sustenance. You might expect the only true difference to be that piles of skulls now replace the coffins where Zelda, Bangladesh, and Jun might have otherwise stood when they were alive. However, one more change has been made - Eric's coffin is now quite a bit fancier and even a little less coffin-looking. For example, it has a nice chair! Apparently there's some favoritism afoot.

Once everyone is in place, the Elder Steward strolls forward to the edge of the circle, hands crossed beneath his robes. The scrolls glow to reveal the evidence and the suspect list as this happens.]

[And with that, the ticking begins anew. Someone killed. It's time to decide who's responsible.

The trial for the murder of Jun Ushiro, The Launcher, has begun.]

Seems unlikely that someone on a stroll would be carrying piano wires to drop, though.

There aren't ligature marks on the victim's body, so I'm fairly suspicious that the wires were used to rig the shelves, and then pulled out as the culprit continued their ascent to the fourth floor.

That could be true, except the bookshelves were chained together. It was quite a mess to untangle too.

The bookshelves were chained together, but that's not necessarily a precarious position, is it?

[She puts her arms out and balances on the heel of one foot.]

The piano wires could have been used to keep those chained shelves all dangling together until the right moment.

Could the wires even hold that much weight? I couldn't even push them up until I got them unchained.

I don't think they were completely suspended off the ground, but not completely upright either. Still, the weight is a good point...

Indeed. I don't know how much those will hold, but I doubt it's that much.

This also doesn't match up for another reason. According to Ambrosine, it was attached to a pillow case, of all things.

[Krone just makes that face like "WHY am I in soul eater" again before putting it on lock.]

With hair inside... was it over the head of the victim...???

Yeah. Arthur's testimony certainly doesn't make it sound like Jun was kidnapped to the library beforehand...

[ She produces a single strand of the hair she found inside the pillowcase. ]

But okay. Emma undoes her hair, which falls in long waves around her, and plucks out a single, very long strand to pass around over to Arthur.

While he's checking, she's just going to get to work braiding her hair back up.]
