THE THIRD INVESTIGATION

THE THIRD INVESTIGATION

[How is everyone, this morning?

No doubt, most of you are sleeping. Perhaps you are dreaming. Whether they are dreams or nightmares are irrelevant. Hopefully, none of you are heavy sleepers. Especially not when there is a very loud BANG that suddenly permeates through the ceiling right above the bedrooms.. The force of the impact is such the rooms actually shake, sending dust onto those in their bed.

If that didn't wake someone up, then the sudden scream coming from upstairs at roughly the same time will do it, right?

In other words. Good morning, Strangers. Something is happening upstairs.

Best to check it out, and quickly.]

It was very difficult to get the bookshelves back into an upright position. I found that was because they were chained together. I would have looked around more, but Arthur was quite disturbed by what he saw so I leave the rest of that area to Ambrosine.

[written in a shaking hand that the fancy font from last time doesn't convey well - ]

Jun had one wound, on the front of his body. Upper left chest. Based on how Emma was

the position of the body and hers with him, it appears he was facing away from the door when he was wounded. I cannot say with certainty that he was shot though there was a wooden arrowhead in the wound. (NOT ornamental. Carved by hand, it seems like recently.) There was a shaft attached to it at some point but it was broken off, possibly by the bookshelf, but it was nowhere nearby.

I have it. The arrowhead, not the arrowshaft.

Alright, let's see if we can get this sorted out.

There were three fallen bookshelves. After Thanatos had moved them, I found a bucket full of clay.

A wire was rigged to the door, leading up to an empty pillowcase. There wasn't much to find there, save for a lone strand of hair.

[a sigh as he begins to write on the scroll. that brief conversation with Emma is bothering him]

some clay is missing from the workshop. looks like a small shovel was used to move it

[Krone has written in a rushed less careful hand than last time that meanders into some keyed-up curlicues.]

Someone jabbed the heart to get in here again. The piano wires were removed. Someone had brought a torch in here and doused it in a bucket of water - shortly before the investigation; I'm able to preserve it with my powers so I'll produce it at the trial for you to observe. Then right by the window to the library was a set of bow and arrows. None were broken. We'll have to compare arrowheads at the trial. The secret passage extends further up to the fourth floor; please report whether this was a change. The piano wires found their way through a door into that room by the time of the investigation.

The golem guarding the master bedroom was more complacent than expected - it let me through the door without a fight and merely followed me around once inside.

There, I found a wire lying on the floor that appears to have come from the piano.

Krone appeared then, as we discovered that the passage leads to the bedroom. Meaning apparently that tunnel winds around the entire damn mansion.

[Thanatos' handwriting is a lot shakier and harder to read compared to his description of the bookshelves.]

Arthur and I discovered that he can share the vision. He did warn me that it would be horrifying. Truly, I don't know how he's handled that so far. What is especially unusual is that he saw two visions.

The first one put me in the mind of someone who could only be the culprit. I could surmise nothing about who it was. Only that they were having trouble seeing and they were pointing an arrow at a figure who looked to be robed like the elder Steward. This figure spoke of accepting fate. They shot the arrow and then nothing more.

Then I saw what happened from Jun's point of view. About all I can say is that there is a small comfort that his suffering wasn't long. He felt a stab and then more pain in his back. As he was dying he also saw a creature I've never seen before. Arthur drew it and I can vouch for being a decent representation of what we saw.

I hope he can find a peaceful rest and that we will figure out who did this to him.

[Thanatos may have the more useful explanation, but Arthur's got to do his part.]

There were two this time, the first was kinda zwoooo and whoever I was was all grrr, then went zoom with a bow! And then swish, bye.

The other one was Jun, reading like huh when suddenly it went thunk and he was even more huh. And there was a whoosh and a thingy! And then bam and wham and noooo...
