THE THIRD TRIAL

[After the finale clues are found, the ticking which we totally didn't forget to add to the investigation post in everyone's head stops, and the Elder Steward's voice echoes through the webs.]

Excellent. Now, please, proceed to the ossuary! Do not tarry.

[Just like before, the Ossuary rumbles upwards to accept the remaining Strangers, with bats hassling those who take too long. Just like before, chains drag everyone to their respective coffins, and in the center are souls for sustenance. You might expect the only true difference to be that piles of skulls now replace the coffins where Zelda, Bangladesh, and Jun might have otherwise stood when they were alive. However, one more change has been made - Eric's coffin is now quite a bit fancier and even a little less coffin-looking. For example, it has a nice chair! Apparently there's some favoritism afoot.

Once everyone is in place, the Elder Steward strolls forward to the edge of the circle, hands crossed beneath his robes. The scrolls glow to reveal the evidence and the suspect list as this happens.]

[And with that, the ticking begins anew. Someone killed. It's time to decide who's responsible.

The trial for the murder of Jun Ushiro, The Launcher, has begun.]

Color's right for Osomatsu, but it's too long for him. Length is similar for you and Ambrosine, but the color's wrong. Thanatos's color and length are both wrong, and....it's kind of obviously not pink.

...No one in this room has hair that would match that description.

I can think of two that are not among us that might, though.

I suppose not, but it's not as if anyone else has been in here or in contact with the pillowcases in some time...

But there's a bedroom other than ours, right?

I... I don't suppose we could ask our "hosts" if this hair belongs to their Lady?

Are you saying that may be the "it" that was taken?

I dunno... If that pillowcase was taken, it was taken on Monday, right? That's before the motive was even announced.

[incendiarize]

That or someone got in there again and took it. It's possible, right?

But after that no one was getting near that room, right?

...Harriet said in her evidence that the secret passage went up all the way to the bedroom. If someone got in there afterwards they could've avoided the golem.

[a pause]

But a part of me is worried that, even if it is someone else's hair, it doesn't matter. I thought the hair might connect us to the culprit, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So maybe we should ignore it.

Agreed. All it tells us is that our killer stole a pillowcase from a bedroom.

So you could say the hair was.........

a red hairring.

[Thanatos laughs]

I'd call it a black hairring myself.

[Aww, look. You got something approaching a smile out of Emma for the first time since the bookshelvening, Osomatsu.]

So perhaps the question here is who has long hair similar in color to Osomatsu?

[geez, his hair's never been given so much attention before]

...Maybe Akko-chan? Or that creepy chick with the toenails.

[Some nodding from Emma. That's who she was thinking of, too.]

And you know the few doors that remained were blown off again when that thing killed her. The creepy one that is, not Akko.

It's not as if any of us wouldn't have had access to Dupree's room. But...

[She glances up, nervously, at Harriet before turning her gaze back down to hurriedly finish up her braid.]

I... I do know you were a little closer with her, Ms. Vaughn. Although I imagine that doesn't mean much...

After what I told people happened in that room, I can't see anyone wanting to go near it. It belonging to Akko makes far more sense.
