WEEK 2

[It is again early morning when the train docks next. This time, however, the dock is not as busy. There are few trains to be seen, and even fewer people. Only a man stands at the dock, teeth sharp in his smile, scelera a deep gold as he stares beneath his fedora.

"Unexpected," he said with a smile. A two-dimensional dog with the head of a scribbled black cloud hops by, ignoring him. "But not unwanted. Do make yourselves comfortable."

This new place is known as Victoria's Chasm, named after an Empress. No, not that one. Her Thrice-Renewed Majesty is quite comfortable on her Throne, and rulled for much longer than 99 days, thank you very much.

In the distance, black begins to erupt like tendrils. Lightning flashes through the clouds. This is the land of monsters; tread carefully. And do not despair, whatever you do.


There are fifteen strangers left in this place.]

DEEP CUT: The Second Floor

Clue: Ah what a waste of life that is.


[The second floor, suddenly, is accessible. All over the mansion, a chime rings. A sigh echoes in the air.

What is happening up there?...]

THURSDAY

[Returning from her other inquiries during the day, Towa notices the strange buzzing in the air as she passes close to the theater. Curious but cautious, she slowly steps closer, trying to determine where it's strongest.]

[She's never seen such a contraption in her life, so the ferris wheel definitely gets her attention.

She approaches it, slowly, letting her hand touch the signage as she inspects the wheel. What's causing it to turn? ]

[ How about he just walks into the Hossmarshall's Office?

Anything noticeable at first glance? ]

[ so ...

Mithos will be out on the outer terrace looking out at the Waste of the Shadows. Does he spot anything before he ... ventures out. With his sword in hand because he's not that reckless but he's been to desolate places before why not ... this one. ]

[overworker]

[Once again, Towa disembarks but this time, it's with greater caution. Still--]

It doesn't seem like there's any sign of the thing that attacked us... that's good.

[She's at ease enough now to give the new location a proper glance now. It's very different from their last stop, to be sure.]

This place feels very different than the last... there aren't many people here either it seems.

[Walking around, Towa appears to be making a new map of this location as well. Whether or not it will be useful, she can't be sure. But since she wants to look around anyway, it's not too much trouble. Even the Wastes of the Shadow.]

...I don't think this is a good place to linger.

[So she's more than happy to spend most of her time in the library, reading over the new selection of books it has to offer. She also visits the ballroom and dining room, but she spends more time in the latter. It feels like it would be a nice place for them to gather for another meeting, so she works on dusting and cleaning it up.]

[Eliza pokes her head into the baggage room out of curiosity, glancing at the bags. They don't look that well-packed...do any of them have name tags?]

Oh, so that's what it was about! [Eliza is quite happy to find some uncensored versions of the books that were on the train. She grins over at Towa.] I wonder if they'll let us bring some of these books with us when we go.

Wastes of Shadow;

[ McBurn's wandering around himself, so it's probably no surprise that he's eventually found in a dangerous looking place. ]

You never know. You could find something worthwhile here.

[A scratchy throat is no reason to not hunt for information, and where better than the library? Does anything jump out immediately, or should he browse the shelves?]

I don't think there are many who would miss them. It doesn't seem like anyone's lived here properly in some time. Or at least it hasn't been looked after very well.

[Eliza notices, and comes hurrying along, summoning Reepicheep and Aelfryth to her shoulders as she catches up.] Hey, you're not going out there alone, are you?

Yeah! Let us join you! [Aelfryth poses quite dramatically, tail swishing back and forth in excitement.]

We could never let someone venture into such danger on their own! [Reepicheep is also being quite dramatic here.]

That's pretty true! Maybe we can even replace the library on the train with these better ones.

[ Mithos hears Eliza and the two rats and turns around. ]

Ah ... Are you sure? If you don't have a way to defend yourself ...

It would be nice to know what's causing this. I wonder if it has anything to do with that thing that attacked us.

If we leave the ones from the train, then at least if they come back they'll still have something to read.

[It's an. Almost fair trade.]

Yup. It'd be like...looking at the same stories from a different perspective, right?

[Looking into the psychology of censorship...]

Heehee. That's right. If you want some help exchanging them, I wouldn't mind helping.

That'd be nice! I remember a few of the books I found on the train, so I can look around and see if there are versions of them here.

[Hey, both the rats have tiny swords now! As for Eliza...she blinks, then slides a throwing knife out of one of her pockets, a grin on her facee.]

I've got more in my other pockets, too. And I know how to use them pretty well!
