THE SECOND INVESTIGATION

[The morning starts as...most mornings do. Quiet, calm. In space. Next to a jail.

That, however, changes when screams start to emanate from the entrance.]

AAAAAAAH!!

[Soon enough, droves of people are streaming out of the jail, panicking and screaming and in some cases fainting. They start jamming towards the station in a near-stampede, screeching.]

LOOSE! THEY'RE LOOSE!!

THE ANIMALS HAVE ESCAPED THE PEN!!

[So...King feels terrible. The fact that Atsushi is dead now leaves him saddened. What's worse...he feels some relief from it. He hates himself for that, but his family is safe, even if they're still being held captive. It's the only positive emotion he can feel right now, and he hates himself just a little bit more for it.

So, he'll try to make up for it. He'll either whisper to the kid on the floor.]

Either find a way out of here the normal way if you're a criminal, or get on the train so we can talk later.

[What? Either the kid did something big enough to piss of the Empress and get put in space jail, or King has the chance to help another kid that seriously needs the help. Whichever option it is will be a win-win in his book

However the kid reacts, he'll walk to the shower room after that. Hopefully an obvious clue is here?]

[The kid blinks, then nods. He'll at least try, obviously.]

So, first, a quick surveillance of the room. Anything big?]

[Let me guess; they're vaguely footprint shaped?]

[Vaguely, but its impossible to tell the shape or size. They are just blobs of water.]

[That sucks, but either way, it probably means one thing.

He'll walk through the area, looking in each of the stalls. Which one was used?]

[The one where the bar of soap looks recently used and glistens in the light.

It seems to have been randomly chosen.]

[…yeah, which one it was is probably not actually important. For now he'll just take some photos of the soap and the sort of footprints. One he can't really take to the trial, the other he can't really reach, so better to just get proof that the two are important.

Now, what else can he find, just looking in this stall? Maybe some blood the killer didn't wash away completely?]

[Nope, nothing else here.

[Hmm...maybe look around the other stalls? Maybe a big clue was accidentally left in one of them?]

[Nope, nothing else in the stalls.]

[Okay, then...how about the towels? Any chance one was used, helping prove his theory of someone showering?]

[There is a very damp towel that is hung near the sinks.]

[Awesome. Assuming it's low enough to the ground, he'll not only take a photo, but also grab it to bring it to the trial. Can't too careful, probably.

Now, anything else that could have a clue here? Toilets to hide something in, sink that's bloody, some...hand dryer that seems off...anything like that here?]

[There is something in one of the sinks, actually. It's just not blood.]

Screw it. He'll just straight up climb up the side of the sink. Not like he could break it, probably.

[A bunch of wax. For some reason.]

[…like hot, melted, liquid wax, or wax that's solidified into a shell on part of the sink?]

[More like wet, cloppy wax that's just kind of like sludge.]

[Gross. Yeah, he's not touching that.

Another click from his camera means another picture for the trial. Hopefully someone there will make sense of this stuff.

From this point, does it look like there's anything else to find?]

[Nope! You're all set!]

[Awesome. He's gonna go cry a lot think about this somewhere else and wait for the trial to start, hoping it's not also a crime scene.]
