THE SECOND TRIAL

[Soon after the finals clues are found, there is a beep on everyone's watch. Then, the Conductor's voice echoes through the jail once more.]

Attention. All passengers of the Eventide, please come to the building in the courtyard. If you are not a passenger, you must have a ticket to enter.

[A ticket? Oh boy. And everyone's suspicions are confirmed when they come to the courtyard and find people-many of them who had been fleeing the prison that very morning-queuing in line to enter the building. Not the Strangers-they are immediately escorted in.

They find themselves in a courtroom, with them sitting at podiums in the center. Above them in the ceiling is a retractable dome; all around on the walls are large screens, so people can watch the proceedings no matter their location. People are filing in, even as a recorded voice drones that the jail isn't responsible for lives lost during the trial-or the sentencing.

Hm.

Lilac is in the judge's seat, the pangolin in her hands. Nearby, the captured animals-sans the rabbit, for some reason, and the sheep-are inside another pen that has been set up. The force field seems to have been quickly erected. After announcing the court proceedings and registering her right to magistrate, as she did the previous week, she clears her throat.]

You all know what you must do. You have your evidence, and you must decided who is responsible. Remember-every vote counts. And...just pretend you're alone again, if it helps, I suppose.

[There's not much else to do. There is the option to ask for the concessions they are selling to everyone, though its mostly water and popcorn. Otherwise, you are once again on a time limit. This time, the audience is watching. Their eyes stare hungrily at every action.

The trial for the murder of Atsushi Nakajima, the Rushlight, has begun..]

So maybe the killer might've thrown the cards away somewhere if they don't still have them.

[Eliza removes several knives from her pockets, along with the healing potion Caleb gave her just then.] I keep most of my stuff in my room...

Hey, sis, mind if I borrow one of the knives? I kind of left my scythe in the lobby on the train.

Huh? Oh, sure... [She passes one over, handle-first. It's nice and clean, too!]

Thanks.

[He just... Holds onto it while he rests his hand on the table. A nice clean knife to stab with if he needs to. Clearly a comfort in these trying times.]

...Might I ask why you have that many knives on your person?

Well, they're for throwing, so I need extra in case I can't get them back quickly. And I just figured I should keep them on me just in case, ever since Mithos and I ended up having to fight that Witch...

I suppose that makes sense, although it does bring up the question of why you brought them to a murder trial.

[...He says, as if he doesn't have a bunch of stolen things on (or, well, technically in) his person at all times.]

I didn't really think about taking them out of my pockets. I was resting after getting trampled, after all.

[ He'll come closer to look at those knives. Anything amiss about them? ]

[Nope. They're all nice and clean. Maybe some smudges or dust on a few of them, but no wax or anything like that.]

[Whelp. Time to dump out everything in his pockets...

Which is... Just the weird egg shaped phone thing that does nothing but make noise. That's it.]

[He empties out his small pants pockets as well. Surprise!~ Nothing there.]

[In Towa's pockets, what comes out is a pair of small knives and a small miniature notebook. But that's all.]

Dropped one of them by the animal pen in fact.

[Where'd that keycard in his hand come from? ...Besides somewhere on his person specifically so he could pull this trick, that is.]

[Staring...] Wait, where the hell is the other one?

There was another set that didn't have the key for the off-limits area at all. It might never have been there.
