AND THE PEOPLE WHO GAIN THE WORLD

AND LOSE THEIR SǪ͞UL̨̡͢

[The time goes down to zero. Vyce's fists clenched.]

. . .You fools.

[He raises a hand, and suddenly, Lala lets out a gasp as she begins to grab at her throat. Green lines begin to glow from within her body as she starts to writhe, before falling to the ground into convulsions.]

For all of your claims and bravado, you still voted to condemn her! You claim to care, you claim she is innocent, you claim to want to take her place, but in the end it never mattered!

THIS is why I cannot trust anyone with my mission! THIS is why YOU would fail in MY shoes! THIS IS WHY I ALONE MUST--

[Suddenly, everyone is thrown to the side as something violently jostles the whole house, Vyce included. Immediately, Lala collapses to the floor, and the glowing lines disappear.]

WHAT THE-

[It actually felt like the house was rammed just then.]

[Well, Mikasa gets her answer with the fact that the bridge screen's visual shows them being in outer space.

Definitely no ground save for the small brownish orb that is nowhere near the ship.]

[???]

....We're on a blimp?

[That's the only thing she can think of that flies.]

Spaceship, actually. Welcome to outer space.

[Wow, they're in the sky... Not just below it like the blimp they stole. And it's night time, so dark.

Stares at the screen, because what else is she supposed to do?]

[Still, he slumps.]

...I am sorry, by the way. If I'd have known this was going to happen, I would have stopped it, but I never thought Vyce would ever...why would he do this?

This was entirely unlike him.

Ah...[Well that gets a reaction, her shoulders slump even if she doesn't turn to look. Hadn't she wondered that before? If she'd just said one little word, would it have changed things?]

People change... Or you didn't realise what they were like in the first place.

[It's no accusatory, not at all. She's just talking from experience.]

Oh, trust me, Vyce was always a single-minded asshole ever since I met him, that's...not it.

This is just...what he did is completely outside what we know of his modus operandi. Him conducting a murdergame with...complete strangers-strangers who have nothing to do with me or the ship or the Entity so far as we can tell!-and then forcing them into murdering each other.

Even if the Entity was involved...he had Jaeris' house, he could have just challenged you like he did me, and if he beat you, that was it. Or he could have just directly come to me, have Jaeris as a hostage by himself!

What caused him to think a damn murdergame was going to accomplish anything?

...

Why him too?

Is...Are you talking about the other murdergames? The ones like the others were in?
thiscomicsucks: (90s kid that's not mountain dew)

[personal profile] thiscomicsucks 2019-11-24 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. This isn't the first murdergame me or my away crew's been involved in, either. Camilla, Cardia and I were in a murdergame two years ago in a place called Skyrim, and then when parts of Tamriel's prime universe started to disappear, Cardia and a chunk of Tamriel ended up in another universe. A universe where pieces of other dying universes were appearing...and also disappearing alongside pieces of their universe.

There was someone there also running an entire system of murdergames. Someone who had the idea before Cardia appeared there...someone who before would have no reason to necessarily resort to that kind of decision, regardless of their motivation.

[Well this is a whole lot for someone whose only just learnt other worlds exist.]

So Vyce is the third person to start this? And before that you and him were trapped in one, and before that someone else?

And Vyce was supposedly doing it to stop this entity... Do you know why the one you were in happened?

So far as we can officially tell, but...we've got indications that there's a lot more of these games happening out there.

[A deep breath.]

The mastermind wanted to erase her entire reality. Her reason was...messed up and complicated, she and her ilk thought reality was a prison. Elenwen's game involved killing the gods of her multiverse through proxies-namely us. Her attempt caused space and time to collapse, multiple simultaneous games happened, and...she ultimately almost succeeded.

[She squints, thinking on that.]

But isn't delusions the opposite to reality? What could exist if there was no real? Or is that just an elaborate way to say she tried to kill everyone?

[She'd find this familiar if she was from a few hours later.]

Deep dive TES spoilers

The Thalmor were racist dicks that had some very messed up views on reality and how they should be able to blow it up. They believed that the time before existence, they were on the level of gods because they were unfettered to any concept of ‘real’. Then some of the gods decided to create reality and anchor themselves to it and created mortal races, which caused reality to ensue, and suddenly things could grow old or get stabbed and.

Basically they didn’t like the concept that they aren’t perfect and wanted to go back to a state where they didn’t have to deal with lesser beings or deal with the consequences of...you know. Life.

Even it was true, it’s a very self-destructive mindset, as you might have noticed. If you are above everything and you’ll be going back to being an invincible not-thing, what do you care about the suffering you cause to get there, right?

And yeah, that is exactly what she tried to do.

[Well that gets a noise, it's not quite a laugh but it's something?]

Funny, it seems like everywhere has 'racist dicks' that think they're better and want someone dead... I don't understand it. Isn't the world...worlds harsh enough that there are bigger things to worry about? It solves nothing.
