Attention, Strangers. It's time for the trial now.

Please bring whatever you see fit and not anything against the rules.

[And so it is, that the Strangers must come once more to the elevators, to the room where the force field sits and their podiums wait. Three more people are now Xed out, as if they never existed.

Once everyone is in place, five podiums light up red.]

THE BRITTLE
THE DISCORD
THE ENEMY
THE FORLORN
THE JOVIAN
Once again, two bodies have been discovered. It sure is tragic. Please remember to vote accordingly.

[There is no hesitation, no pause, before the clock begins, and the ticking echoes through the chamber. The evidence is there for the remaining Strangers to see, and organize. Voting must happen to ensure justice. What else is there to say, then?

The trial for the murders of Vita Clotilde-Morris, the Bad Luck, and Jonathan Morris, the Double, has begun.]

It'd make sense for a fire-putter-outer to have a thermometer on it, right? And it's not for food, so maybe it'd use quicksilver.

[He has thoughts that are going places.]
unwittingking: (Huh?)

[personal profile] unwittingking 2020-02-22 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[…that was not what King though Arthur was thinking, but he can roll with that!]

It's possible. I didn't check the thing myself, but I think I think they have some thing to show what's going on inside the thing...though that might just be checking on the pressure inside.

[Surprise! He's not a fire extinguisher expert.]
incendiarize: (Who's gonna help us survive)

[personal profile] incendiarize 2020-02-22 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
If the extithingy was what hit her, maybe that smashed the thermometer, and that's why the quicksilver is there at all?
unwittingking: (It's too hard to choose one though)

[personal profile] unwittingking 2020-02-22 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Okay, there we go.]

It's possible, but...can anyone even tell if that's what happened? I don't think most of the people here have medical knowledge, or enough to tell that much.

[Ambrosine might, being a necromancer, but he really shouldn't assume.]

I have a little bit of training as a medic.....

I guess we gotta figure out then - did they set her on fire after to hide something, or if they like....hit her with the laser bat, did that set her hair on fire, and then Jonathan tried to put that out with the doodad?
unwittingking: (It's too hard to choose one though)

[personal profile] unwittingking 2020-02-22 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Of course the one person here that has medical training is one of the kids...]

I think...we saw some of what happened. That Jonathan used his power to check on Vita, I think. The original probably wouldn't stop until either the killer was dead, or he was. I think, if anyone put out the fire...it would have to be the killer.
incendiarize: (And if it kills me tonight)

[personal profile] incendiarize 2020-02-22 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought he might've used it before what we saw, or the second him used it while the main him ran....but I guess you're probably right.

So....why? Why would a killer not want to burn as much evidence as they could to ashes?
unwittingking: (It's too hard to choose one though)

[personal profile] unwittingking 2020-02-22 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
it was an accident?

I'm not sure about it, but...would anyone here want to burn a body? It just...doesn't strike me as something someone here would do on purpose. Even if it was to get rid of evidence, we have an incinerator. Setting a fire in the kitchen...it's unnecessary, and I don't think anyone here would do it.

I could see a few trains of thought coming to that conclusion, if our culprit wanted a diversion rather than a simple disposal.

[personal profile] otherworldlyking 2020-02-22 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Diversion from what?
necroyalty: (we're so sorry skeletons)

Good question. Everything about this murder seems excessive.

[personal profile] otherworldlyking 2020-02-22 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Makes sense for it to be messy where the fight happened, but seeing as she agreed to her death in the first place, it didn't make much sense to have all of those injuries all over her.

[personal profile] relieable 2020-02-22 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
We all assumed Jonathan was the one to die second. Maybe someone stabbed him first, then Vita put up the fight.

[because, yeah, she has so many more injuries. he doesn't know about the details of the vision, though, just that Jonathan had been crying]

And if there was a struggle, it's easy to understand why a fire could start on accident, or someone might want to obscure something especially incriminating that couldn't be moved...

Doubt Jon would be the one trying to fight if she hadn't died first.

[ So there's his thoughts on that. ]

Neither of them seems particularly likely to go down without a fight, and she could have still been threatened without necessarily being dead.
relieable: he is dead to me (he came on my favorite pants)

[personal profile] relieable 2020-02-22 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Arthur did say that Vita was gonna let them kill her. But maybe she wasn't completely dead, just passed out, and she saw Jonathan get hurt, and got sent into a rage.

[personal profile] incendiarize 2020-02-22 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Jonathan found her dead, he blamed himself, and Vita didn't fight - didn't even turn to face her killer.

[Maybe if he sticks to basic facts of what he saw, he won't upset Osomatsu again.]
relieable: (this baby is an asshole)

[personal profile] relieable 2020-02-22 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why it's weird. I dunno why Vita would be more damaged, unless someone else really disliked her.

....I mostly can't figure out why someone felt the need to stab her with a runcible.

[He has at least theories about most of the other injuries?]

I guess I'm speaking from personal experience here. I have been in the position of disposing of a body for someone else's murder. No one was going to be executed that one time, but it still would have damaged our resolve and I didn't want an entire episode happening.

I didn't do a very good job. Tried to dissolve the corpse in chemicals, but they found the skeleton.

Anyway, it's not too unusual to think that someone might want to be needlessly dramatic so as to confuse us.

…Ambrosine, what the fuck.

[There is no other way to react to this, as far as he's concerned.]

If it helps any, apparently Eddie was the same guy who did the thing on the plane that Jonathan and Vita went through.

[So like, no loss and he deserved it.]

I hate to say it this way, but would anyone here be that extra? It doesn't seem like too many people would do something like that.

[It's one thing to do something like 'Have the corpses hold hand,' it's another to do 'Burn the dead body to add insult to injury and get rid of evidence.' At least that's how he sees it.]
