WELCOME ABOARD


[The first sensation you feel is a headache. It's brief, slicing, sharp. It passes soon after you wake up, but it is there nevertheless, and the pain is not easily forgotten. Perhaps your eyes also blur as if roused from a deep sleep; perhaps your tongue also feels off, like you swallowed a bug. It's not pleasant.

More unpleasant, though, is the second sensation that dawns on you all-this is not your bed. This, in fact, is unrecognizable. It is not anywhere you recall coming to, willingly or otherwise. It's a room with a bunk, and there is a strange smell in the air that is hard to ignore.

No, you are no longer home. Any possessions you may have had on you are gone, save your clothing and a strange watch you can't get off, no matter how hard you try. And when you run into the hallway, well-you might find yourself running into others who might be just as confused and scared as you are as the area around you slowly sways, up and down, left and right.

What is this place? Why are you here? Who are all these other people?

[ Roland easily nodded all the same, and it seemed they were relatively on the same page as far as certain matters were concerned. ]

I am quite hopeful for that outcome as well!

[ This was a chance opportunity and he got to meet new people so it'd overall put him in good enough of a mood to have pretty much forgotten his earlier headache. Granted he still had a lot of questions but they could be set aside in lieu of this matter of proper introductions and all. ]

It's quite wonderful to meet you, Archer! You certainly are a wise and very knowledgeable man and I'm glad you're here with us, though it is a little concerning you don't know much more than that.

[ A small shake of his head and he bounced back, holding a hand out to the older man confidently. ]

My name is Roland Fortis and I hope we can continue to get along this well going forwards as we have now.

[Normally, he'd use Fortis - but Roland seemed to not mind the familiarity, so he'd continue as he is.]

Though I'd hardly call myself wise! Merely someone who has been around long enough to know a few things. I'm no great sage, after all!

[He laughs, though it's good naturedly.]

I am certain I'll come to remember who I am soon enough, however. Such things hardly stay gone forever! Though I hope it isn't a sign of old age come early - I'm only 50 something!

[ Indeed he didn't seem to mind the familiarity one bit, offering another cheerful, happy laugh and his smile as bright as ever. ]

Nonsense! If not for you then I never would have known anything about that Television, the invention of movies and what electricity is!

[ Roland nodded and reached out to confidently clap one hand against the older man's shoulder. ]

You're still young and I do completely believe your memories will come back to you, given some time.
