WEEK 1


[So, once Zero has said his peace, everything is quiet as the week dawns. A new Game. Nonary, Decision, Murder. All three. It doesn't matter. Everyone is here to kill or die. The coin has been tossed, the die is cast. The rules are set; the watches are active.

The question now is, why? Why is this happening? Why you? Surely no one is so desperate to kill on this ship, right? Not when the people onboard are so interesting and varied. Perhaps everyone can get along; perhaps there's a way off the ship without bloodshed. Of course, if there is, it might be be best to be prepared for a long stay-there's no doubt Zero won't make it that easy to escape. Then there's the matter that-apparently-people have new powers they did not possess before, while those the strangers once had are gone. Perhaps it's time to test those out and see what they can do if you're not Kira.

So, let's see what happens this week. Hopefully it will be a peaceful one.

I came straight here. I figured if anyone got past me I'd give them their just desserts, and if not, I could take care of it myself. Perhaps I'd let you guard it in the former case.

[He doesn't really think it will come to that - especially after Hermes was foolish enough to get his hand, er, disaligned instead of actually making it to his doll - but Makima is at least one of the more tolerable people here. Though he still gives her a strange look at her choice of honorific, coming from a younger woman.]

My initial goal was to prevent any stab from occurring at all. I've gathered that a fair number of participants are stabbing their own dolls repeatedly, perhaps even those of others as well, and it seems safe to say it's more than half at this point. Enough to put any nonparticipant in serious danger. Moriarty-kun and I have discussed the possibility of allowing ourselves to abstain, and that seems like sufficient test cases.

[At least ancient Moriarty gets this treatment too, like "elementary, Watson-kun"... Makima has a lot of reasons she's like this and is willing to banter about any of them if more overtly questioned.]

But I've been in combat before, and trained for it too. One or two blows meant well by a comrade don't bother me.

[Referring to Moriarty that way definitely raises the question even further so it distracts him from further poking for the time being]

You know, I really have to ask why you refer to your elders like that!

[She's doing a very exaggerated thinking gesture about what this catch could possibly be! It even shifts her legs underneath the sword a little! The jostling compounds because she is interrupted by this honorific comment. Blink.]

Well, those questions have the same answer. You are all my comrades, like in the Diet.

I see. If that's all, I suppose I have no particular reason to object.

Let's just say that based on your rational approach to the situation, I predict you'll take my side whenever the group manages to gather for a discussion of today's events.

Apologies, but Zero provided us all with individual sharp implements. I'd prefer to use my own, just in case that's something that matters in this game.

[He then puts down his book and takes out a stainless steel nail file, the end of which comes to a point for the purpose of scraping clean. He gets up and approaches her doll without another word. He's not going to ask, so if she has a preference for a place to stab, now is the time to speak up.]
