WEEK 1

WEEK 1

[So, once Zero has said his peace, everything is quiet as the week dawns. A new Game. Nonary, Decision, Murder. All three. It doesn't matter. Everyone is here to kill or die. The coin has been tossed, the die is cast. The rules are set; the watches are active.

The question now is, why? Why is this happening? Why you? Surely no one is so desperate to kill on this ship, right? Not when the people onboard are so interesting and varied. Perhaps everyone can get along; perhaps there's a way off the ship without bloodshed. Of course, if there is, it might be be best to be prepared for a long stay-there's no doubt Zero won't make it that easy to escape. Then there's the matter that-apparently-people have new powers they did not possess before, while those the strangers once had are gone. Perhaps it's time to test those out and see what they can do if you're not Kira.

So, let's see what happens this week. Hopefully it will be a peaceful one.

There are currently 19 strangers on this ship.]

Well, I thought it fit.

[Hm.]

Why regrets, though?

Regrets can be dispersed among people, though the love or hate could or could not fit.
Filled with regrets, yet they leave you empty.
Regrets can indeed be great, and we often don't know them until after the deed is done.
Regrets are always in your thoughts, but never physically there.

It only half fits, and is fairly loose, so it could still be something else.

...Well, that's normally what a riddle is, right? It could have more than one answer...
lovedthemost: (02)

[personal profile] lovedthemost 2023-06-16 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Most riddles have a solid answer. If this one is as esoteric as it seems, it's being deliberately vague. I would say that's likely, considering the commentary from Zero that we won't understand it until later.

I mean, I suppose so. It's too bad it's not easy, like the riddle of the Sphinx or something like that.
lovedthemost: (09)

[personal profile] lovedthemost 2023-06-16 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That's because the Sphinx's riddles are meant to be possible to answer if you give them a moment of thought. [dryly] This one clearly is not.

Oh, that's true.

Maybe the answer is time?

[personal profile] lovedthemost 2023-06-16 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Would you ever say that time is filled to the brim and yet empty and bare?
not_a_lego_maniac: (<:3?)

[personal profile] not_a_lego_maniac 2023-06-16 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if its wasted time, it's possible, right?
lovedthemost: (02)

[personal profile] lovedthemost 2023-06-16 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
If it is in fact referring to wasted time, then it's incredibly poorly phrased.

[he rolls his eyes]

The whole thing is poorly phrased, and really less a riddle meant to be answered and more someone thinking they're being clever and writing a heavy-handed poem that one cannot actually solve with thought, but rather they must know the answer beforehand.

[personal profile] not_a_lego_maniac 2023-06-16 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
So we're not meant to know the answer?

Why give us the riddle to begin with if only Zero knows the answer?!
lovedthemost: (04)

[personal profile] lovedthemost 2023-06-16 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Why else? Because it makes him feel powerful. He said himself that we'd "understand the ramifications some day." That means that he already knows the answer, and we are not meant to know it until a time as he feels appropriate.

Therefore it's not a riddle. Simply a useless waste of time.

[personal profile] not_a_lego_maniac 2023-06-16 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's not fair at all! How are we meant to figure it out?
lovedthemost: (08)

[personal profile] lovedthemost 2023-06-16 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
What about this place has ever seemed fair to you?
not_a_lego_maniac: (>:[)

[personal profile] not_a_lego_maniac 2023-06-16 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I...that's besides the point! It's not fair to give us something we can't answer!
lovedthemost: (09)

[personal profile] lovedthemost 2023-06-17 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
At the risk of repeating a point I already expressed, we were kidnapped from our homes. Nothing about that is fair, so it follows that nothing here will be fair.

...I...

[Brain huffs, making a tsking noise]

It's probably best to assume from now on that nothing we find here or experience here is done in the interest of fairness.
