WEEK 3



[The week begins as last week began. But there's is a great difference-murder. It has happened. Blood has been drawn; it cannot be undone. The Game has made itself known. The Game is paramount. The Game simply is.

As morning dawns, those who were not present with the DEAD lock will find that the doors that were locked are now gone-and a whole new area has finally opened up to them. They will also find that they remember something they had not been able to recall beforehand. The question is, was it worth it?

And-is it you, or is the ship getting...colder as the hours go by? No, it's not just you. By the end of Sunday, the ship has started to dip into freezing temperatures. It might be difficult for people to bundle up-unless you're Brain, who will find his closet inundated with winter clothing that fit him perfectly.

Yup. This is going to be a long week, as if last week wasn't bad enough.

[ Careful Alastor. He almost looks to be sparkling now, eyes bright and full of light and hope. ]

Do you think there's ever truly a chance that I would be perchance lucky enough to get to see a real angel with my own two eyes??

Maybe if you have enough magical potential to learn to see into Purgatorio. Angels don't usually enter the human world fully, so you have to be able to see into the space where the borders of all three worlds blend to spot them.

Though, I guess even if you don't, I might be bribed to enchant some glasses or something so you can see into it anyway.

[ Don't mind him. Just being absolutely enthralled with the sheer idea of actually getting to see a REAL Angel. ]

[ Hope you didn't mind the breach of personal space, Alastor.

Mostly since he just immediately moved close enough to grasp both of your hands and he's almost-sparkling once again, leaning in close. ]

Please, Alastor!! What would it take to get your help with this matter of being able to see one of the Lord's angels?! I must know!

[He is a little taken aback, mostly by the hand holding part and sparkly eyes right in his face. Don't mind him getting a little flustered, like he's not used to such strongly positive attention.]

Uh...well, I'm sure you know the more infamous cost for buying something significant from a devil, but seeing as I don't live in the underworld anymore, I don't exactly have any use for human souls. Seems a bit much for something like that, anyway, so...my usual price for individual spells is a pint or so of fresh blood.

[ With Roland here? Sir you're about to receive a LOT more positive attention like this. ]

A pint? Hmm... is there a particular way you would like it given to you?

[ Saying this without even a single shift in his facial expression? You bet! ]

[He does not know how to deal! What is being fawned over without some element of primal fear??]

Back in the old days, I just had people hold a bleeding cut over a bowl, but a needle and tube is probably less...messy. It's gonna have to wait until we get out of here, though. I can't even work the simplest magic here, aside from the swords.

[ Okay so there's probably something against making deals with devils and the like, subconsciously he knows this but also doesn't entirely care. He's never really played much by the rules anyway. ]

Very well. I'm willing to sacrifice enough blood to make such a thing work once we are able to be freed from this wretched ship.

[ That said, he nodded and released Alastor's hands but still seemed completely giddy about the prospect of seeing an angel. He wanted to see if they looked anything like in scriptures, or if they were more like the paintings he's seen. ]

Just don't breathe a word of this to the church, okay?

[He snorts and puts a hand on his hip.]

Yeah, pretty sure modern churches frown on this sort of thing. [His smile fades and his eyes flicker slightly.] I've heard about what they did to the Witches, after all.

Mine isn't what I think could be considered as a modern one, but... [ He waved a hand dismissively. ] I know what you mean.

[ It took a second to think about that, since it's not clear in the series how much it follows actual history before just nodding. ]

Don't worry about it. I can handle anything that comes up and don't intend to be burned alive or anything like that.

'Modern' as in 'sixteenth century or later'. That's when dealing with devils was declared a capital offense, from what I've read about the Witch hunts.

But, good. I'd be willing to bet someone has to keep an eye out for vampires that don't care about sustainable feeding, right? Would suck if one of those people got burned at the stake.

Aah, understood. I'm from the 19th century so it would be considered... more modern, I suppose.

[ He laughed, practically beaming. ]

Have no worries! I have absolutely NO plans to go out like that, as I intend to be present for the eventual day humans and vampires can co-exist peacefully!

That might be awhile. From what you've told me, you'd need to cause a huge shift in how vampires see humans. At the very least, you'd have to convince them that giving multiple humans reason to willingly donate safe amounts is easier than overpowering a victim and draining them dry.

Well. I won't know until I try!

[ Which means it's not even much of a worry as far as he's concerned here. He believes if he tries hard enough that he can make a difference somehow. ]

I'm friends with a lovely vampire named Noé, who I believe could start with convincing the other vampires while I do what I can on my end.

I guess. Just...be prepared for the idea that it might take generations to see any real difference. And it won't stop you from having to kill the older vampires who are set in their ways.

If that's what it comes down to, so be it.

[ One of those wondrous times where he's got very little qualms about speaking of such things in the most casual manner. ]

Just the idea of just setting things in motion to make a greater change is truly thrilling! Even if I don't completely get to see it through, what I can experience will surely be worth it.

And what about the human side of things? You sure they wouldn't just rather vampires disappear entirely?

If they saw things from their perspective, it's always possible they could be convinced to change their minds.

[ This is mostly because he was overly optimistic as a person more than anything. He speaks with absolute conviction and doesn't hesitate here. ]

I'm not so sure about that...if it's anything like the way things are in my world, there'll be people who hate vampires intensely enough that they think them completely incapable of redeeming qualities.

Hmm. I suppose you're right. That will be an obstacle I will endeavor to handle as soon as it arises, then.

[ While it may seem like he wasn't taking it seriously? It was absolutely the opposite. ]

Some do happen to be out there that are just as stubborn as I am, so I do understand it will be a difficult hurdle to overcome.

The more extreme ones might consider you a traitor to the human race for what you want to do.

I'm well aware of that.

[ A firm nod of his head. ]

There are many risks and challenges that come with traversing along this path, but I've long since made up my mind about this.

I guess it's your life, if you wanna spend it on chasing some improbable fantasy.

It's not improbable, nor a fantasy!

[ A small huff. Not quite offended or anything, but.. ]
