It belongs in a GREAT BIG FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAH
[ So, Akane is probably in NO condition to host the afterparty, so Val's gonna do the honors here. She leaves a note where everyone can see it once everyone's properly exited the theater: ]
Come to the tea room. I'll get y'all some fucking marshmallows.
[ She's not cooking, but she brought some skewers and the appropriate fixings for both hot dogs and smores and put them aside on a little table, as well as some soda and every possible booze this ship had.
Most of the tables and chairs have been just pushed off to the far end of the room, but some furniture has been sacrificed to start a huge fucking bonfire in the middle of the tea room. Precautions have been taken to keep this shit from spreading, but here we are.
She's content to let most people mingle amongst themselves, but she will be muttering something as y'all come in. ]
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil-
[ A pause. ]
Where my eternal quest takes me, I shall know no fear. My heart is strong and my blood stronger.

She only notices, eventually, when he comes in, and then she pushes herself up weakly, for a moment looking a little alarmed at the unexpected intrusion, before her face crumples again.]
Oh...
Thank you, Hermes. I don't... I don't know if I could eat anything right now.

[Hermes says it as if Morale is a type of stat to keep track of.]

I guess that's true.
But there's other reasons my Morale isn't up right now.

I don't think we can afford to dwell on those other reasons. IKindaHateTo TellYouThisBuuuuuut the more you all sit around and do nothing, the more people will die.

I can't stop that. I can't keep them from dying.

What'sItLikeAtHome? Do you have a job?

I... I'm in college.

He was trying to distract her, she thought. He was being kind. So she bowed her head and answered, even if trying to think about anything much felt like wading through mud.]
I... I can't really.... go... into class on campus. I... these fevers.... they happen at home, too. And so it's hard to.... to take too much at once, but I do like to learn....
I was taking some STEM classes. Physics, mostly. It's hard to learn biochemical engineering when you can't go into the labs, even if....
Even if I would like to learn. I think it's important. Gene therapy, curing diseases....

There may be one disease you might never be able to cure... It's a fictional one, so don't worry. Well,YouCanAlways EditSaveFiles ButThat'sCheating. Anyway, I don't really know much about real world diseases. How many of them have cures and how many do you want to personally find a cure for?

But, finally....]
The.... the disease I'm most afraid of isn't... in the wild. Not yet. I learned about it because of the Nonary Game. But I'm... I'm worried about what it would mean, if it ever got... released.
[Her voice is soft and slow, a little hesitant, but she seems to cringe slightly under the weight of the words.]
Do you believe in premonition, Hermes?

...My computer game, Fortuna, is programmed in a way so that when a player progresses either forward or backwards in time, ties events together. I'm pretty sure time travel doesn't exist in the real world yet, but depending on how similar things are, then... there may be some things that can be taken as premonitions.

And....
The disease... it's called 【Radical-6】. It is highly contagious. The name relates to the ways it interferes with the function of the brain. An infected human's brain function will decrease to about √6 of normal, which also slows their perception of time. That is to say, someone who is infected would perceive roughly 2.45 seconds in real time as the passing of one second.
Maybe it's the influx of information that causes that leads to the second symptom... an overwhelming desire to commit suicide.
It has a 75% mortality rate. If it ever got out... it would be the end of the world. And I'm afraid it's going to.

...There's safe strains of Clockwork out in my game, so... do you think there's safe strains of 【Radical-6】 out there?

Yet.
[She takes the s'more, mostly automatically. She's really not hungry still.]

I'm really not very hungry, Hermes. Thank you for... coming to check on me, though.
