Afterparty Buffet

[So, that trial sure happened, didn't it? And on nearly empty stomachs, no less. That's why people might catch Alastor headed for the kitchen as soon as they're out of the theater, obviously intent on making food. He's in there a while, actually, and the hallway outside of it smells strongly of some rather tasty food.

What he's up to will become clear when he goes around to tell people to visit the mess hall. There, he's set up a varied buffet on one of the tables, all of various foods easy to serve in small portions. This includes small slices of beef only very lightly seared on the outside, but also more fully cooked fare, and even a few fruit and vegetable dishes. Plus the requisite spread of alcohol, because it sure has been A Day, huh?

...Also, while Hermes obviously doesn't eat, he still gets the instructions to go to the mess hall. Huh.]

[ Hm. He took another couple of bites as he considered all of that, then nodded. ]

It sounds like we all should be making more an effort to keep an eye on him, then. Not for any nefarious reasons, but moreso to keep him safe going forwards.

[Akane, eventually, makes her way out from the infirmary and to the mess hall. She's the only one who hadn't been starved this week, of course. If anything she'd been overeating. It meant she wasn't really hungry, especially when her head still hurt, but she does still gather up a plate and sit down, kind of picking at the contents. She seems very subdued. But, then, why wouldn't she be? Two more people are dead.]

[Well, here's someone with some booze as well. And fruits. The tube of space food is there, just in case, but.

He looks just. As down as Roland probably feels.]

Why does it hate us...

Hm. Yeah... I wish I had acted sooner, but it appears we also have some very capable people on board with us who were able to reach her sooner.

[ A pause, and his smile immediately is turned up to it's usual sunniness. If he's feeling unwell, he's of course going to just push that aside. Heck, he's even going to raise a hand to give her head a gentle pat as well. ]

I'm doing quite well, all things considered. That all took a turn I wasn't expecting, like Val accepting her punishment in the end, or that she even remotely felt bad about what she'd done.

Immediately Zack goes over.]

Are you all right? How is your head?

[ Granted the weird creature tried to go AFTER him? He'd be surprised if Zack was feeling super chipper or anything. ]

I'm not sure. I'm hoping going forwards we can have some answers to why it went after you like that.

When it looked at me. I thought. I thought it was...I thought genuinely it wanted to kill me. Like it truly hates me. I don't think I've ever had...anyone or anything look at me like that.

[She looks up and forces a smile. There is a notably forced quality to it, though at least it's brighter than it was last week. At least she isn't crying again.]

I'll be okay. It hurts, but I took some aspirin.

Good to hear. What about that body, though? Saw you pull a stunt on our way out.

[ While he's made sure to eat something himself, it's hard to miss one of the last two teenagers looking... less than absolutely stellar right now. The younger man looks exhausted and he can't blame him. ]

Ah.. Gai? Don't suppose you'd be adverse to having some company, hmm?

[ At home he has a couple siblings so maybe that's why he feels drawn to try and do something. ]

[Kira gets a plate with one each of the small portioned items, showing no particular preference and eating just enough to get his energy up.

After that, he'll be spending some time in the lab, but he doesn't seem to be doing anything in particular by the time anyone else finds him in there. Brain's bracelet is lying on one of the tables, though. Maybe he's thinking about him... or just killing time until another door appears. It's hard to say.

Also Stray Cat is there because I said so. It's a nice dark room for it to nap in.]

Yeah, considering those vines are everywhere...

[He chews on a slice of beef, then leans against Roland.]

But you know, I will need to take it easy to heal properly. Breakfast in bed might help.

[Normally, he would say "I'm fine." Normally, he would try to push people away in what could only be described as a self-defensive measure. Because he's Leader, and it's his job to be the one who is calm and collected and in charge.

But he's not Leader here, and the others have already seen more weakness than he wanted to let slip. Perhaps just a little bit more isn't going to hurt for now.]

... I get the feeling that saying "no" wouldn't change your answer.

[But there's no real malice in it, nor anger.]

How odd... I'm not sure why it would hate you, either.

[ Going to take a bite of food to finish before continuing. ]

There was a moment back there, where it just looked at us... like it was studying us and I didn't like it.

[Alastor has a bar of chocolate in hand when he sits down next to Gai. If he notices the contents of that other glass, he doesn't comment.]

You alright?

Are any of us?

[It's a rhetorical question, really. He's pretty sure the answer to it is "no, not really," whether any of them will admit to it out loud or not.]

Yeah. It just... For a moment, all I could see was Kayano-chan falling to the ground instead.

[She nods, though she isn't sure how much she believes that smile.]

She seemed to have a complicated relationship with how everything played out, - she said she liked Brain, right? So...maybe that's why.

Who....who are they? Why do they want to grow the tree Alastor mentioned? It's clear they have a lot of power already, don't they?! What more could they want?...

Some of us are less alright than others.

[Of all of them...Alastor is probably holding up better than most. Advantages to being native to Hell, he supposes.]

Do you mean, while you were also pulling a stunt on the way out? Or more like while you were, again, also pulling a stunt, when Val attacked Akane-san?

[He's been keeping an eye on Hubert this entire time, because yeeeaaaahhh. He threw that guy one of his knives for a reason, and that reason was that he was pretty sure Hubert wanted to settle things personally.]

I heal when I'm injured, even if not as fast as I'm used to.

Precisely. Ones that usually only I can see, granted.. but... [ A sigh. ] Yeah. I'm quite getting tired of seeing them.

[ After taking a drink, he moved to wrap an arm around Alastor's waist lightly. ]

Mm... I think that can be arranged. [ He paused, considering something. ] Would you mind if I ended up moving into your room with you, then?

[ The smile he flashes is absolutely radiant and a definite confirmation in response to the younger man's words. ]

You'd be correct.

[ He's even moved to sit down across from him, a glass of alcohol in hand. ]

Are you going to be alright? [ Given the other's state? It should be obvious but.. y'know. ] You look quite exhausted.

[He offers Roland a taste of his own drink, a sweet red wine.]

Not surprised you wouldn't want to stay in the room you used to share with Val. Always room for you in mine, even when I do feel like sleeping.
