THE FOURTH TRIAL
(~SK. 24-25)
[There's no announcement informing the Strangers to come into the theater. There is only the sound of the doors opening, beckoning those left to come inside. It's best not to tarry-really, do you want to know what happens if they refuse to go to the trial?
When they enter the theater, it's...different. Sort of. Maybe it's because the area where the podiums are covered in donuts (and yes, Roland will see the little white animals pop over and pinch a few off the top). Maybe it's the fact that more spaces are draped in black. Maybe it's the fact that Zack's podium is also missing from where it sat, leaving nothing but donuts-in fact, that's where the primary pile of donuts are. Digging through that pile will only yield donuts, and nothing more.
(Some of the animals try to approach Akane. They disintegrate before they get two steps. Apparently they're better off eating the donuts.)
But-most of all-it's the fact that Zero is not on the screens that pop out through the theater. There's nothing but static. And while the curtains are closed, you know you are being watched regardless.
Uh. So. Maybe it's not worth waiting for Zero on this.

If one's hand is amputated such that the watch slips off, what would occur? Is that the watch bearer's fault?

Evidence Please!
Could Zack...? No, the tree had tried to kill him last week. He shakes his head and clears his throat loudly to get attention.]
Alright, let's save the circus sideshows for after we've taken a look at things, this time? We should look at the evidence together, see if we can draw connections.
The armory was a mess, looked like there was a fight in there. The wall was peppered with bullet holes that I think came from a handgun or something similar. There was also a knife missing...I didn't see the body this time, were there stab wounds?
no subject
I took a good look at his body and there were only bullet wounds. There were no injuries that came from a knife. Someone really wanted to make sure he was dead, given the two shots to his head.

There was also barely digested vomit in the stool. Something bready with almonds. I... did not take a sample, for obvious reasons.

There’s a lot about this I don’t quite understand, but i’ll start with a couple of things I feel need to be brought to everyone’s attention. The first is that the footprint I saw in the hall and also in the laundry room were quite unusual in the way that it was smeared in a way that suggests the foot was dragged and also was barefoot.
[ A pause. He’s going to try and refrain from making a suggestion here, unless he absolutely needs to. Maybe thanks to the fact he’s already leaning a bit more against his podium with the occasional, subtle wince. ]
I believe this means someone may possibly be suffering from a leg injury that may have been obtained from a bullet wound.
[ Then Roland held up the container with some of the pink liquid in it. ]
I found a lot of this in a washer, and it smells sweet but also a bit like vinegar. Seems like it’s organic but other than that, I don’t know what it is. [ A hum and he looks to Hermes. ] I’m also not sure, but it looked like Zack might have been trying to write out your name as he died. Do you know why he’d have done that?
[ Not meant accusingly in any way or form, mostly curious over anything else. ]

CATHERD!
So, we have ideas on the weapons used against Zack, but the gun in question probably belonged to him in the first place. The knife was definitely used to stab Zack, and that was missing from the armory...but the sword wasn't. Did anyone think to bring that? I wanna see if it's any of the ones I've made.
There's also the dragging footprints. Could be whoever did it was barefoot at the time so they wouldn't have blood on their shoes.

SHOE/FOOT CHECK
[Makima sits down against a wall of the theater. Her shoes are clear to see on the floor.]
We'll line up over here to check our shoes for stains and our feet for matches to any footprint. Alright?
[Maybe she was just looking for an excuse to stop standing for a while...]

[He takes his boot off to wiggle his four toes...there's no way his footprints would be mistaken for a human's.]

WOUND Check
I do believe one of us might be bearing an injury from the altercations between Zack and his killer, but it may be necessary to just check the legs. Given the nature of those bloody footprints and the way they seem dragged, from possibly being injured.
[ He glanced to Alastor. ]
I know I don't have any injuries to my legs and Alastor can attest to this, but I am willing to be checked if nobody wishes to go off of my word alone.
no subject
Given how violent the altercation seems like it was....
Are we really sure that would be enough?
Maybe it's better not to drag it out.

PENALTY: S̸H̷I̶F̴T̸ ̶t̴h̶e̴ ̸B̴l̸a̸m̴e̵ (cw: impalement)
Aoi is unceremoniously schlorped up onto the stage, one second, eyes wide. Then-faster than the blink of an eye-he is immediately impaled by dozens of thorny spikes, his body exploding into a showerhead of blood as he gags and retches in horror.
Behind him is the figure with blazing eyes, staring at the body. It is, and will not be, quick. The draining will be in full view; he will die slowly as the moments go by unable to change his fate. And because of all the thorns that pop up around him, it is impossible to get to him without suffering grievous harm-as if the Strangers even could approach the stage.
It is here that the figure finally, finally speaks. No-the ship itself speaks. It is a hiss, a an inhuman snarl, with only one word coming out.]

I do hate to sound like I'm hurrying those of you who are left, but perhaps it is best to at least consider...voting.

EXECUTION: Burn Notice
[The lights flash over the podiums; then, all but the one shining on Roland disappears.]
...For what it is worth, Mr. von Vestra, your work was...highly beneficial. I assure you, it will not be forgotten.
[And with that, both Roland and Hubert schlllllorp into the floor-and onto the stage, in front of Aoi's drained corpse. Roland takes a deep breath, Durandal in hand, as he faces Hubert. He takes his rosary and cross out, making the sign of the Cross.]
I'm sorry. May god have mercy on your soul and...good luck, Hubert.
[He then goes to put the rosary and cross in his pocket, and.
What happens next is a blur. There is a motion on Roland's part-is that a bottle he just threw?- before Durandal suddenly transforms. It becomes a snake-like whip which first snaps forward and slices the bottle in half, splashing liquid all over Hubert. The second crack of the whip is even harder and faster than the first, and in the next second, Hubert's eyes widen as he falls backward, his head sliding cleanly off his neck.
The second the first drop of liquid hits the floor, there is an immediate reaction. The ship shakes, not out of simple pain, but out of rage. Instantly a pair of hand-like tree roots burst out of the blood pyre of Aoi Kurashiki, careening right towards Roland and Hubert even as the latter falls the the floor dead-
-and while one hand covers Hubert's body, the liquid hissing and corroding through the thinnest and weakest branches, the other hand backhands Roland with enough strength to send him flying right through the forcefield separating the stage in the Strangers, and right into the theater seats near the door.
(His landing is mostly cushioned by the white rat things. Mostly. Thankfully. Maybe.)
It's possible no one notices the D O N G, given what just hapened and what is happening. In the background of the stage, the figure crouches, eyes blazing blood red. Massive claws burst from its hands, dripping blood. It is Not Pleased, and it's probably a very good idea to get the hell out of there. Thankfully, the doors open right at that second.
So leave, Strangers. Now.
Definitely do not look back this time if you value your life.]
Execution Complete. X-Passes of deceased players will now be announced. Please pay attention, as they will not be repeated after this announcement.
R̵̼̀͝E̶̠͆͐͝D̸̖̼͐̓...EAGLE...GIFT.
Thank you.

[Akane doesn't run so much as scramble for him after that execution. He made it quick. They knew it was coming.
She'll have to deal with that later. Not now.]
