FINAL INVESTIGATION

[It is time.

The chill which had come from the now-open, unnumbered room has now begun to seep into the rest of the Depths. It seems to call to the Titled, beckoning them to come forward and to face whatever is now beyond that door.

Fie and Rubedo were right - that room was, indeed, the exit to the Depths. And at the end of the staircase is a door, which the Skeleton Key can very easily open. A few seconds later, the door at the top of the stairs opens.

And the city within the cave below is revealed to them, as they stand on a platform high above the ground.



The ruin still looks as new as it did the day it was built. The air here is cold mountain air, though the only light seems to come from one massive building carved into the very rock of the cave. There is nothing coming from the mouth of the cave save for snow.

On the door they just came through is a single parchment of paper which reads "LEINALZIND OUTER DISTRICT." Each building, they will find, is labelled similarly. Which means there is only one conclusion.

[This thread is for doing any final preparations before the Final Trial starts. If there's any last minute investigating related to the Depths, anything you want your character to grab before it's too late, here's your chance to do it.

Yeah, they did. We should probably let them see [...actually she had this whole conversation with that guy and never got his name oops] those guys before we do anything else. Maybe they can decide what they want done, too.

If they called for them by name, as terrible as it sounds, I think it would be best for the decision to come from them also.

Do you know if they're feeling up to it? I haven't seen 'em since they got hit by those invisible guys.

They probably are not. But a lord holds their people's lives in trust - they probably need to.

[Fie kinda skimmed the pamphlet but the Elder Scroll came up along with ancestor moths and the Nord guy said something about an ancestor grove, so. Maybe she'll just toss the scroll at the tree or something??]

[Well.

Moths start swarming to her, and she does indeed start to glow to those watching. For her, the world becomes fuzzy, blurry, save for one spot near the hole in the wall, where the light in the Conservatex seem to converge to to one point, glowing like the sun.

Step into it?]

[Are these moths giving her glaucoma!! She hopes not!! But okay yes, she'll step into that light. Maybe she will have been the true Twilight vampire all along.]

[Jr. packed most of what he thought would be important, just in case. But now that he's seen what's on the other side of that door, there's one more thing he has to do:

For a while after investigating the city, Jr. can be found in the barracks hallway. He's dragged a chair from the study to stand on as he works on fleshing out the sky on the mural. It's nothing fancy, but a few stars and a sun carry an important message. One he's not sure anyone will see after they leave, but that he feels it's important to leave behind anyway.]

TRANSLATION EFFORTS

[So, he can't read one of the pieces of paper he found, but the other one comes with a translation key. So he's going to take that to the library, along with a clean sheet of paper and a pen, and get to work. Hopefully he'll have time to translate it fully...how's that go for him?]

[It goes all right. There is a lot to translate, but it appears these are the plans for...something huge. Huge huge. Tower-huge, even. A walking brass machine powered by "tonal instruments"...?]

Damn...what the hell are they messing around with? It really is like Joachim all over again, isn't it? No, more like...if someone else was studying the design of the Emulators.
