[The doors at the other end of the city do not open for the Titled. However, whatever is going on in there still brings forth bright lights from within, and ultimately, it is to the steps of the entrance that everyone is drawn to. It's not the most formal setting for figuring out the truth of the matter before them.

Yeah. Elenwen. Never met her personally, but...Alexis told me about her. Back when she was the Thalmor's ambassador to Skyrim. She...was in charge of carrying out Thalmor interests within the Empire.

Well, looks like she's in charge around here. She's probably the invisible bitch that killed McBurn...

I've still got no clue what why they want us dead, but I'm guessing it has something to do with this experiment about Mantling people. They thought we were Dwemer, not Daedra, but maybe they got curious about the ancient lost race.

[intercessing]

There is a Daedric Prince who is known as the Lady of Decay. Her followers are...flesh eaters.

It's...I get a temporary boost in strength and stamina when I consume human flesh.

...That's why I haven't been eating from the food stores since that last trial. I went back and smoked the meat from the soldiers that bitch sent after us.

Are you saying we've got the power of some sort of magical royalty's artifacts inside of us?

The power of a powerful god, yes.

I guess that answers where we come into the picture. They wanted Dwemer to act as the vessels for these Daedra's powers. But then...

Wait...what would happen if the Daedra's personal artifacts were somehow destroyed?

...I cannot say for certain, but I do know that the Daedric Princes...do not like their personal artifacts destroyed. At the least, it greatly diminishes their influence on the mortal plane. At least, normally.

So if we're the artifacts now, wouldn't killing us have the same effect? If that's all they did...

[intercessing]

It...probably would, if you are indeed the artifacts.

It...would explain why Nocturnal was so fervent about taking the Skeleton Key, even at the cost of closing the Ebonmere.

[carries_war]

So from the looks of it, they've imbued us with the power of these gods, and then tried to get us all killed to weaken them. Then they plan to use some other artifacts to become gods themselves, destroy the anchors keeping this world in place, and remake it as they see fit.

Do you think there would be any other effect if one artifact was destroyed by another?

[intercessing]

Nothing I can think of. Weakening the Daedric Princes and their power...it's the only thing I can think of. But it's possible that those in charge of this...I...

I don't know.

They wouldn't be the first people to think they can kill a God.
