...THE BEGINNING

[Fifteen strangers were brought into the Depths to end the world, and they survived, with extra strangers along for the ride. Though the old world ended, creation itself has been preserved, and a new world has been born, shaped by the survivors. Portals to new worlds have been opened, and memories are slowly, but surely, returning.

And what better way is there to celebrate the beginning of a world, but with a spaghetti dinner?

Well, there was plenty of spaghetti, but some people thought that maybe there should be more than spaghetti. The Dragonborn did their best to make non-spaghetti food based on their memories of Tamrielic cuisine - being a cook themselves and cooking their own meals, even as an Emperor.

Spiced coffee with moon sugar and sweetmeat pasties in the shape of the moons, from Elweyr.

Imperial-style spiced sausage, braised in wine, and a tomato-flavored rye bread.

From Iliac Bay, a paprika-spiced rice dish with chicken and roasted peppers and a spiced banana mash in the style of Hammerfell.

From the Alik'r Deserts of Hammerfell, scorpion braised with venom sauce - which Alexis seems to like. It doesn't seem to be poisoned.

From Daggerfall, beet hummus, and stuffed dormice wrapped in bread like sandwiches.

From High Rock, Potage le Magnifique, with Alexis' special, not-lethal secret ingredient, and rock trout, along with fruit dumplings.

Lamb's bone broth with potato dumplings and vegetables, just like in the strongholds of the Orcs - with a dash of rice - and a dessert of carmelized beetroot.

Saltrice flatbreads and Telvanni-style mushroom medley with frost salts, from Morrowind.

Black Marsh King Yellow slug, served raw with some seasoning and wrapped in nut leaf. They are delicious, really.

Of course there is Skyrim's honey mead and blue cheese with honeyed oatcakes, along with horker and ash yam stew from Solstheim.

For now, it's time to relax, and celebrate the end - and beginning. Work can be done tomorrow. Questions can be answered later, if any are left. For now, eat, and enjoy. Bring your friends from home. Be happy, and remember.

"He might, if he thought it would be funny." Maglor points out, eyes laughing at the memory of frantic searches and odd hiding places.

"Not so little, any more."

"Huh! Then I must pursue him." and that little scamp will be dragged out by his legs or his arm! Maedhros has no qualms about getting down on his hands and knees to wrestle a naughty child into submission. Especially when said naughty child is laughing helplessly.

"They are all little to me."

"I am sure he will enjoy giving you a run. What was it he called you in a mood? Stinker?"

He laughs softly at the memory. "And that was the kindest thing he called us, I think."

"I think he learned fouler names as he aged and I earned them all!" Maedhros laughs at the impudent pout in his memory, "I loved his fire."

"He had a tongue on him." Maglor smiles and shakes his head.

"Elrond was subtler in his insults, but Elros always did seem quite delighted to learn yet another terrible thing he could call someone."

"A silver, yet barbed tongue!" he walks a short distance away, staring up at the archways, "Elrond has less mischief in him, but not by much."

Maglor snorts in amusement.

"Is that what you think? I think he had more, he was just better at shifting blame!"

"He tricked me!" Maedhros pulls a tragic expression, "I need to have a word with him."

As if he can be strict if he sees him again.

"You will try, and then Elrond will give you a perfectly reasonable argument about why you should not be angry."

Maglor predicts.

"I do love his reasonable arguments." Maedhros beams, perfectly willing to admit defeat, "He used to be so serious whilst trying to convince me."

"He was always such a serious child." Maglor agrees. "Also, usually right."

"A refreshing change!" though he will never say so to their brothers and cousins, "He is empathetic. It gives him insight others miss."

"He is - a healer from birth, I am sure." Maglor remembers fondly.

"Where Elros was far too much like you!"

Maedhros sighs and rests his forehead against a column.

"He should have taken more after Elrond."

Such a brief, bright, beautiful life.

"He would not have been Elros, if he had."

Maglor acknowledges softly, tracing the face in one of the tapestries.

"Do you think I...doomed him...to that fate?"

They both perished; Maedhros had led that little Elf for as long as they were blessed with the task.

"No." No doubt or hesitation.

"Elros wanted to move, to be. He always wanted to see what the next adventure would be. He would have been so bored as one of the Eldar."

His cheeks flush and he moves to Maglor, drawn into his brother's orbit. Maglor has no idea how bright he can be.

"No wonder I spent my years so recklessly. I had too many!"

Maglor only blinks at him, gravitating to his side when he does.

"Oh Nelyo! Did you... want to follow after him?"

"I cannot even if I wanted to." he lets out a small sigh, "I do not remember much - it feels like a dream - but the Halls must be partitioned."

"They can't be that separate, if Luthien could find Beren... but I suppose it would be hard to find..."

"There is love between us - from my side only, perhaps. I shall test how strong." he touches the tapestry, "If it is meant to be, it will be. I will not think of it prematurely."

"From both, I am sure. Elros loved you, Nelyo. I'm sure of it. But I suppose there is no way of knowing."

"I felt his love and I hope it still exists, but I presume nothing. I do not deserve to after..." Maedhros gives him a small smile, "I feel your love too."

Maglor turns to reach for his brother's hands and squeeze lightly.

"Hush - you know Elros, once he made up his mind he seldom changed it. And you always have my love, Nelyo. Always."
