WAKE UP TIME

[The first thing you feel when you wake up is...nothing.

You don't feel much different at all when you wake up, no doubt from a very pleasant sleep, even if you may not remember what you dreamed of. If anything, you would have thought it was another normal day.

That thought would have vanished the moment you took in your surroundings. This is not your bed, this is definitely not your bedroom, and well, this is definitely not your home. In fact, this place isn't anywhere you've been before.

Before you can question anything much further, your cell phone starts beeping, flashing a message on the screen for a good several minutes, before flashing your profile, also for a few minutes. Yes, now you have a Title, and a power, even if you've never had one before. And yes, you have a cell phone. Even if you didn't have one, and don't know what the hell a cell phone is. You get the feeling you'll need to keep it on you.

The profile fades back to the home page of your phone - don't worry, you can still access your profile, and everyone else's, on that little lime icon if you really want - even though you have so many questions now. (The help button may... attempt to be helpful in that case.) Where the hell are you? Why do you have a Title? And can you get out?

[It's a good thing Akechi has good reflexes, because as soon as he realizes what Torri is doing, he reaches out to grab her arm.]

I believe she was speaking in terms of potential. Not current possibility.

[His hand flinches back at being told to wait, leaving him suddenly worried he was about to do something that would cause the girl to panic.]

My apologies, but...I couldn't simply allow her to try to fly off the stairs.

[ So a lot of things just happened, Life coach was confused, Dio started yelling, Akechi nearly grabbed her and then Wake tried to defend her. It's a lot to process and she freezes, a frown on her face.

Instinctively she moves further away from Akechi, though she's definitely not moving for the stairs now. ]

I'm sorry. [ To everyone really, but she's looking at Wake when she says it. ]

I thought it might be possible now if Miss Life Coach was near, because of her energy. [ She heard it wasn't star energy, but the life coach must have some kind of energy if she could fly like she did. ]

It's OK, Torri. [ Very gently, he pats her on the top of her head. They can talk about why jumping off of stairs isn't a good idea later. For now, he looks back at the stranger. ] Anyway, you don't have to apologize. I'm sure you had good intentions, and it's not like you were completely wrong, it's just...

[He can certainly understand the sentiment. He's not exactly eager to mention his own issues with being suddenly grabbed.]

[ She heard the commotion and arrived not long ago, it seemed to be under control but--she really wasn't sure when to announce her presence, and, well, let's be honest. Ursula can kind of blend into the background, so she clears her throat. ]

... I think he was only trying to prevent her from getting hurt. Isn't she the same age as you? You're acting a bit like her father.

[ Torri knows that butting into other people's conversations isn't right, but she feels the need to clarify here. This is important, and it likely makes sense given she's darted back to Wake's side. ]

Wake is a year older than me, he's a second year and I'm a first year. He's not my father, but he is the father to my Star Children. He's very important to me, so please don't blame him— I'm sorry.

[ Ursula has a lot of Opinions but she's going to keep them to herself, she doesn't want to cause and dissent so early. She does frown a bit. ]

I think we can all agree that you trying to jump off a flight of stairs was a terrible idea, though. Please don't do that again. You could get badly injured, and I don't have any magic to heal you right now.

[ She dips her head down, averting her eyes. ]

I'm really very sorry, I didn't mean to worry everyone...

[ She could explain that Star Power made seemingly impossible things doable, like powering a plane not on gasoline but her own star energy. She doesn't though, because none of that really matters when she's clearly done something wrong. ]

At home, I have star energy that let's me do all kinds of things. I'm trying to get better at using it, because it's important to fight the dusk monsters.

I guess not everyone here knows about them, huh? It's hard for me to understand why it's confusing to you guys. It's true Star Children aren't common where I'm from but everyone knows about them. Classmating, too.

I can't explain all the details, but Star Children aren't human. They're spirits created to fight monsters.

[While Torri is standing around in confusion, a thought pops into her head, like it would have come from the back of her mind even if she has never had this kind of thought before... A thought that she may be easy to manipulate if she is always foolish. There is a (possibly) disturbing sense that others may even find this amusing.]

[ No, she's had this thought before. It's not a foreign one, but the amusement is. Torri's not sure if it's because of everyone else around her or something else, but she doesn't like this feeling at all.
