WAKE UP TIME

[The first thing you feel when you wake up is...nothing.

You don't feel much different at all when you wake up, no doubt from a very pleasant sleep, even if you may not remember what you dreamed of. If anything, you would have thought it was another normal day.

That thought would have vanished the moment you took in your surroundings. This is not your bed, this is definitely not your bedroom, and well, this is definitely not your home. In fact, this place isn't anywhere you've been before.

Before you can question anything much further, your cell phone starts beeping, flashing a message on the screen for a good several minutes, before flashing your profile, also for a few minutes. Yes, now you have a Title, and a power, even if you've never had one before. And yes, you have a cell phone. Even if you didn't have one, and don't know what the hell a cell phone is. You get the feeling you'll need to keep it on you.

The profile fades back to the home page of your phone - don't worry, you can still access your profile, and everyone else's, on that little lime icon if you really want - even though you have so many questions now. (The help button may... attempt to be helpful in that case.) Where the hell are you? Why do you have a Title? And can you get out?

Woah, look, it's happened before some places out there, okay? But, I get you. Sorry for freaking you out. [Hi, fourteen,] I'm twenty-two. Still got a long life ahead of me.

[Joey's a typical sheltered American kid who doesn't comprehend that sort of atrocity happening, but she's just self-aware enough to ignore the first point instead of arguing it.]

Right. Well, as long as no one beat you up...

[She is going to look around for first aid kits for later, though. You can't be too careful around here, and she can at least apply antiseptics and bandages right. Not much difference between people and animals there.]

Oh, no, nothing like that. [His voice is lightened enough that it would sound compatible with him giving a brotherly pat on the head.] You're the first person I've seen since I got knocked out and brought here, actually. And that didn't leave a mark... it was weird.

Yeah. I don't think we were attacked, exactly? I'm feeling a little sore from monster-fighting but I think that's actually unrelated.

Well, it was probably some kind of drug and not a blow over the head, but it's still an attack as long as if you didn't want it to happen, right?

Yeah, but. I don't know. Not a fight or anything that could have been a fight.

Come to think of it, I think I might have been teleported here? Or something?

Hey, you might be on to something. That would explain how we don't have any proof where we were in between there and here. There's no big obvious door, either.

Yeah. I mean. There was a big obvious door I went through in my house, but nothing like it here. Did you see anything like that?

Yeah, I was sort of going through this door into the warehouse... but why would they rig the doors? Doesn't that seem pretty random?

Doors are for taking you to other places, and the one in my attic was pretty significant-looking. I don't know, it just makes sense that it'd take me somewhere weird.

I thought I knew where my door went... but I'm pretty sure it didn't exactly open up into an attic, if you know what I'm saying.

I...don't, but mine was especially weird, yeah. Less of a door and more of a freestanding machine that looked like something out of the Wizard of Oz, if I'm being honest.

[Dio looks for a hot second like he had no idea at all what to say to that, but surely that impression is entirely dispelled by his quick burst of sarcastic amusement at their gosh darned captors!!!] That'd do it. Some kind of really weird material is going into all these walls and doors... I'd never felt anything like it before. [You know. When he propelled his face right into it.]

Yeah...what exactly is going on with the walls here? Do we know? Because it shouldn't be that hard to rig up something to get through them with everything you can find in a mall.

At the same time, it's kinda hard to find tools in a mall that help you identity mystery substances.
