I don't know anyone back home I was close enough to for that to happen. But knowing that someone like that exists...

That's quite understandable. I don't have anyone I'm quite that close to, but I do worry about Sae-san. She's quite capable in many regards, but I'm afraid she's developed some bad habits lately that I've been attempting to mitigate before they cause her too much trouble.

I still simply can't imagine living someplace without magic... I know not everyone in my home uses it, but it has so many benefits and can help so many people, I just can't see why you wouldn't tap into such a resource, unless... magic already died off completely in your worlds.

Which is a case I certainly hope did not happen.

I mean, I never grew up with magic around, so it's not like I would have known it existed if it did.

[ And he's not sure if magic was out in the open or not in your world, since in a lot of fiction he's familiar with, it wasn't. ]

Oh, I grew up in a witching family. My family... well, my mother was rather accomplished astrologian, and my father was a performer of magical dance. Magic's always been around, people know about it quite well... it's just that some people... ah, discriminate.

I recall hearing about some of my father's shows getting vandalized from time to time...
