[Well, Ren's here, just as he said he'd be. He'll buy drinks for any adults still alive that want to imbibe, but there's also a number of sodas in a cooler available for anyone who's a minor or just doesn't want to drink. He's also brought in some snacks from Yotsukoshi and a few of those crab buckets, although anyone else is certainly free to contribute their own food and drink to the pile.

Ren finishes up his cigarette before setting up, letting it extinguish before everyone arrives. Look, he's being good, there's only one in the ashtray.

Joey's got one of her dance routines planned, Ren already also had the King's Game set up, or people can just mingle.

It's just not good to be lonely.]

...How does someone accidentally raise the dead?

[ It's a completely genuine thing to ask, right? Plus he's curious so that's definitely not a bad thing to get to know since it's got potential to be interesting. ]

... I think you might be the third or fourth person to ask me this since I came here... is it really that odd a thing to say?

Of course it is. Then again, not all of us come from a world where using magic is possible.

[ Now he looks fairly amused. His curiosity on this hasn't waned any though. ]

So. How did it happen, exactly?

Three students at the school I teach at, whose names I will not name, but they know who they are... and a mushroom, a broken gravestone, and a repair potion during what SHOULD have been a nice, relaxing field trip to the local town.

[ She sighs. ]

One of my students has an incredibly high propensity for seeking out poisonous mushrooms, or other poisonous substances... cockatrice feathers, for example...

[ Just the idea of this sounds both chaotic and entirely interesting all on it's own. Plus the mention of this particular student with a penchance for things poisonous reminds him of Okuda. ]

Yeah? I can already imagine how that in itself can be a recipe for disaster.

[ A moment in which he smiles a bit to himself. ]

I'd probably get along with that student of yours.

Well, the two other students weren't doing anything wrong... the one who likes poisons wanted to find a rare, graveyard-growing mushroom, and their friend was just going with them... but the one that I mentor personally is... a bit of a...

[ How do you describe Atsuko? She pauses, as if trying to find the right words. ]

... Well, she's a witch-in-training... she... has a lot of room for growth... she broke the gravestone of someone resting in the cemetery, and intended to just use a repair potion to fix it, but accidentally knocked the mushroom the other student had picked out of her hands... and they merged, creating a resurrection potion.

He... came back as a zombie.

Huh. Now that sounds like it was quite the experience.

[ Ugh he wishes now that he could have seen that because wow. Just... wow. Like something he'd hear happening out of some story or whatnot, and as such? It should be obvious that Ursula has his completely undivided attention on this matter. ]

How exactly did things get put back to normal after that?

To be honest, he ran around town screaming and yelling and occasionally losing a limb until the girls could help him remember who he was. And when they remembered why he was so dead set on some specific thing, and person, they ported back to the school with him in tow, on the town's belltower... well, bell.

[ ... Long, long story. ]

He was the father of our headmistress. Turns out they... really needed to talk.
