THE THIRD TRIAL

[It happens again, like clockwork. Once the final clues have happened, the elevator in the food court opens with a DING. It doesn't leave until everyone has gotten on, and the thought occurs to everyone that they shouldn't waste time.

An innocent man was ruthlessly murdered, after all. After everything that's happened.

Just as before, everyone who is still alive will find their favorite food and drink at their platform. And just as before, Akechi, Helena and Ren's platforms have now been lowered and covered with a white cloth, joining the increasing number of dead spaces in the trial area. Helena's platform, however, has an addition not present on any other deceased's platform: a single white lily, placed almost reverently on top.

Well. Whatever reason that lily is there, it shouldn't detract from the fact that there is a trial to be had here, once more. Its time to look at the evidence at hand, and to hopefully find whoever did this heinous crime.

So, it's time, Titled.

The trial for the murder of Ren Sanzashi, The Doorframe, has begun.]

Ah. Well... you guys kinda have me cornered, so I guess I should like, explain something else. But how to put it... it's probs kinda hard if ya don't know much about what I am, right?

So. I'll give a little example. Do any of you know that musical, Hell Note? It's about, like, a guy that kills people with supernatural powers. But that power originally came from a Shinigami, and whenever someone dies, it's like, added to their lifespan. In other words, if they don't use their power, they eventually, like, die?

I'm sorta like that, ya know? And it's been a pretty long time since I've, like, been here! Groups usually mess up a lot faster! Soooo you can probably figure out what I, like, hafta do to survive. And that's just one part of my, like, debt.

So...for you to survive, either we have to die, or you have to kill us?

[No wonder she can't seem to bring herself to feel bad about the situation. Or defend herself, for that matter.]

Yeah... now you know why I, like, totally thought it'd suck if you guys killed down to three people... I mean, like, besides the obvious.

Before I came here, I never...I didn't realize that people had to kill to survive. Frankly I only barely acknowledged it about animals. But. Between you and Akechi...

...Coco. I asked Akechi this last week, and I'm gonna ask you this week. You're my...you're my friend, even if we were just introduced a few days ago, but I have to ask you this, and I'm sorry.

Please tell me you didn't kill Ren Sanzashi.

You don't have to be sorry. It was totally, like, my decision to become like this, after I died... I didn't want to just roll over and quit after everything I'd been through...!

[There are little tears forming at the corners of her eyes, though.]

... It's Coco, right? ... Listen, you're... not a bad person for wanting to keep on living. That's entirely understandable. Is there... any way we could bring you back to the living?

Not really. This is basically all I have to live for now. It's, like, super important to me!
