WEEK 1

WEEK 1

[Well, this is...happening. This is a thing. This is your life now. The Commander is expecting you to just up and kill one another, and then try to get away with it. No big deal, right? You guys can handle this. You won't fall for what she has. She's clearly an idiot. A loud idiot, but still an idiot. She's not going to get one over you.

...Right?

In any case, the Commander's quarters are now open for anyone who decides they can actually stand to be in the same room as her, but beware - any favor you might ask of her is going to come at a price, and who knows what she'll ask you to do if you decide to gain a boon from her. Unless you're a suck-up like Baku - then she'll apparently be flattered. Maybe that's a good tactic to use?

Whatever you do, try not to murder the bread again. The Bread Did Nothing Wrong.

There are fifteen strangers in this place.]

[C is fancying himself the prey in this situation, it seems. Rosenkreuz pretends he didn't see that.]

How quaint. What are these, nightmares where the abbot asks a question and suddenly they remember they've come to study in the nude? I would have thought you'd at least prefer dreams of curses or bloodshed.

CW: Bullying, suicide, dead animals, etc. Basically all the living nightmares of high school.

[ A deep breath. ]

Schools aren't like that anymore. You could get by easily, yes. Or you could have your books torn to pieces by other students, find dead animals in your locker, be told to just kill yourself, have rocks thrown at you... And that's on top of study loads that would have been learned over a life time with far more advanced subjects at an early age than I am sure were normal in your own time. And all of this done for no reason than someone just doesn't like how you looked. Your hair could be pulled, a boy could start life-destroying rumors about a girl because she wouldn't go to bed with him. You could even be beaten to a bloody pulp and if you dared try to defend yourself, you would be punished the same as the ones who tried to do you harm. And I've even met some who had things such as lye thrown at them just because they were a romantic rival for a day. Children have many fears nowadays, Sir Seto.

[Rosenkreuz looks curiously at him when he falls silent - he was really just being conversational by bringing up the amusing type of embarrassing nightmare that was so common. It's interesting if the Baku assumes he's ignorant of human cruelty for being born in the past, too, but not something he feels like correcting. Unlike how the youth typically tries to act, he finds this a thoroughly uncharismatic answer. How surprising that he would be serious enough about the children's plights to answer sincerely, when he's supposed to be a demon. But maybe he's just trying to paint himself as a savior. He'll roll with that, since they're 'common sense allies' for the time being.]

I see, then how noble you are for taking those horrible fears away from them, hm?

[Though it may be clear here that he's mostly being polite.]

...It's not about nobility. But it deserves a certain degree of seriousness and respect, even if I just am eating the results to a degree.

[ Something gnaws at the back of his mind, a cruel whisper that there was someone whose nightmares he couldn't take away for some reason and that's why. He dismisses the uncomfortable thought, because its meaning is lost on him. There shouldn't be a reason he takes the struggles of those whose nightmares he eats so seriously. ]

For me it's just business. But they are my contractors, and it's still a heavy thing they bear at such young ages.
