[Well, this is...happening. This is a thing. This is your life now. The Commander is expecting you to just up and kill one another, and then try to get away with it. No big deal, right? You guys can handle this. You won't fall for what she has. She's clearly an idiot. A loud idiot, but still an idiot. She's not going to get one over you.

...Right?

In any case, the Commander's quarters are now open for anyone who decides they can actually stand to be in the same room as her, but beware - any favor you might ask of her is going to come at a price, and who knows what she'll ask you to do if you decide to gain a boon from her. Unless you're a suck-up like Baku - then she'll apparently be flattered. Maybe that's a good tactic to use?


Whatever you do, try not to murder the bread again. The Bread Did Nothing Wrong.

As long as you know how to make freeze-dried food edible, there isn't really a lot of room for messing up. [Just Add Water.] I just have the advantage of having had it before...

Guess that's the big difference then... I'd have to read the packaging before even having an idea of what to do.

I don't know if there are instructions on the packaging.... It's kind of a niche market. [He didn't examine the packaging closely enough.] It's not hard, though. Just adding hot or cold water.

Good to know it's simple enough to at least get the hang of. I'll have to see what kind of variety there is.

Yeah, definitely afraid to know what they'd do to damage poor chocolate.

From what I've read, military chocolate is useful because it boosts morale and energy...but D-rations were meant for emergencies, so they didn't want them to taste good. They also needed them to not melt easily, and provide the nutrition and calories a soldier in the field would need.

[Sounds reasonable enough, right?]

The result was a chocolate bar that was more often discarded than saved for an emergency.

So, then... a chocolate that tastes disgusting, but that you have to... chew more?

Sort of? Apparently it's nearly impossible to break or chew and even harder to digest, and really bitter, too. But nutritious.

Modern military chocolate is better.

... Nutritious, and yet... difficult to digest...

At least an effort was made.

Thankfully there's closer to modern military chocolate here.

All things considered, naps are better than nothing.
