WEEK 1

WEEK 1

[Well, this is...happening. This is a thing. This is your life now. The Commander is expecting you to just up and kill one another, and then try to get away with it. No big deal, right? You guys can handle this. You won't fall for what she has. She's clearly an idiot. A loud idiot, but still an idiot. She's not going to get one over you.

...Right?

In any case, the Commander's quarters are now open for anyone who decides they can actually stand to be in the same room as her, but beware - any favor you might ask of her is going to come at a price, and who knows what she'll ask you to do if you decide to gain a boon from her. Unless you're a suck-up like Baku - then she'll apparently be flattered. Maybe that's a good tactic to use?

Whatever you do, try not to murder the bread again. The Bread Did Nothing Wrong.

There are fifteen strangers in this place.]

[Vita knows very well that while opera is what she normally does, it's not something this audience is likely to understand or enjoy. She can also sing normal songs and it's also a way to share a bit of culture from her home.]

Thank you. A few wanted to hear something and I thought a taste of what a normal person would listen to would suit far more.
backuphero: (No problem.)

You're welcome... I think you actually found the perfect songs for the audience here.

[He's very obviously got a question on his mind after that, but it takes him a few seconds of nervous fidgeting to spit it out.]

I, ah... I'm not holding my breath, but if I can find a recording here, somehow... there's a few songs I grew up hearing that I think you'd make sound even better. If I can find those songs, would you... is it asking too much to ask you to learn something just because I think you'd make it sound amazing?

[Okay, okay, so "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" only barely counts, Judy Garland didn't make that her own until he was thirteen, but....]

I don't mind leaning a new piece. I would definitely need to either hear it or have some way of knowing how the melody and words go. Maybe we can find it somehow.
backuphero: (No problem.)

Yeah, maybe the library's got something? Haven't seen anything that looks like a record player here, but it's worth looking closer, right?

I also haven't seen any records or even a radio. I can take a look though. Can you tell me the names of the songs to keep an eye out for?

[personal profile] backuphero 2018-07-22 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Wonder if there's even anything out there for a radio to pick up? Depending on where we are...

[He looks concerned for a moment, but then looks down, very visibly trying hard to remember some song titles. And oh boy, brace yourself, he is a sap.]

So... well, I don't just listen to sad songs, but "Over the Rainbow" is one. I really think you've got the perfect voice for that.

Man, it's hard to just pick a couple out, it's like when I try to settle on just one or two I start remembering everything... "It's Only A Paper Moon" is happy, at least. Kind of. It's... one of my mom's favorites.

[Congrats, Vita, you've got him blushing again, and this time you didn't even have to do anything!]

I don't think anyone listens to just sad songs, but they can be nice in trying times to know you're not alone. I'll see if I can find something with those.

Yeah... if you find anything with Ruth Etting or Judy Garland as the singer, you've got something good.

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-23 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Never heard of them, but you make me want to find their work just so I can sing it for you.

[She gives a wink. Definitely sounds like she's flirting again.]

[And Jonathan, for the record, does not know how to handle someone Hollywood-pretty and possibly older than him flirting with him. So he's blushing again, since that wink made that too clear.]

I... I mean, I don't mean to impose, but that'd... that'd be great!

[personal profile] illusionarymelody 2018-07-26 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Vita is about 25, and rather likes men around 18-20.]

It's no imposition. I enjoy learning new songs and it would be nice to learn something of your world. Everyone else's worlds seem so different from mine.
backuphero: (No problem.)

[personal profile] backuphero 2018-07-26 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, uh... I'll look around, too, then! That's a good way to find out about the differences, I think.

And it is always better to show than tell when possible. truly, I hope I'll find them.

[She gives him another wink and smile. She'll find what he's looking for, she's definitely determined enough.]
