[Well, this is...happening. This is a thing. This is your life now. The Commander is expecting you to just up and kill one another, and then try to get away with it. No big deal, right? You guys can handle this. You won't fall for what she has. She's clearly an idiot. A loud idiot, but still an idiot. She's not going to get one over you.

...Right?

In any case, the Commander's quarters are now open for anyone who decides they can actually stand to be in the same room as her, but beware - any favor you might ask of her is going to come at a price, and who knows what she'll ask you to do if you decide to gain a boon from her. Unless you're a suck-up like Baku - then she'll apparently be flattered. Maybe that's a good tactic to use?


Whatever you do, try not to murder the bread again. The Bread Did Nothing Wrong.

Of course it is. When you're a teenager... everything is immediate and right in front of you. Not that they can't plan for the long term, but it's harder to imagine things not being the way they are.

[ He tilts his head a bit and twists a strand of bangs, a distant sort of smile appearing. ]

I think... for a moment, I forgot I was only a teenager. Having the sudden reminder felt surreal. [ gaze lowering, smile a little brittle, but intact ] And it's even harder to remember that, while I'm in places like this.

[ While looking back up at Naoya, he shrugs both shoulders. ]

But, I think the other part of it, now, is that life somehow feels more... [ brow tensing ] ... fleeting?

It seems like it would. ... I can imagine, though, in a place with death... it would make things seem more fleeting to you. They always are, to me. For... well. Obvious reasons.

[ His brow tenses and he nods with an expression that silently reads of understanding, namely towards that last bit. ]

Not to mention, I've gained more of an appreciation for the simple things.

[ Gesturing to the paper and pen he usually keeps on him. There are simple sketches on it, and notes for observations of his day. ]

Not to mention, I never enjoyed reading as much as I do now.

Well, when there's no internet, you make do. Welcome to what we did in ye olden days.

[Yes he pronounces it with a fairly impeccable Received Pronunciation British accent, because why the fuck not.]

Hmm... do you draw, Akira?

[ That gets a quiet snort out of him, at first. The question has his expression softening a little. ]

... Some of my closest friends do... and- did, in some cases.

[ He gives a dim smile as he briefly fidgets with the pen. ]

I thought I'd give it a try. [ a small grin is given ] I was the one who did all the red sketches on those announcements for the first meeting. They weren't anything special, but it was fun.

It wasn't too bad. I can give you some pointers, if you want. Drawing isn't... my specialty, but I know the technical ins and outs.

Of course, if you just want to have fun and doodle, that's fine as well.

Then I'd be happy to help you out. It's a matter of learning to break things down into shapes... which is a skill that can be learned.

I'm sure we can find something around here to use as an example...

What kinds of things do you recommend starting out with?

Not something like a flower. Something easier... like...

[His gaze lands on the plastic dagger that's on the table.]

Like that. Just to train your eye - it might look simple, but there's a number of different shapes in it.

[ A thoughtful hum is given, and then he nods, picking the dagger up. ]
