[There's no doubt that those who wake up will vaguely remember a dream.

In that dream, at least for most people, there are two figures, informing them each that they had a Title. With that title came a power. More than that, they were being given rooms, as if they were meant to stay in the dark and gloomy place where their dreams placed them. The Strangers might have found this to be a ridiculous proposition. Unless they have been through this before, then were probably not surprised in the least.

All of this, of course, ended with a sense of inexplicable dread for everyone. Especially when they woke up to find themselves in long, thin, cramped rooms, with only candlelight to give them any illumination.

Yes. Unfortunately, that dream had not been a dream at all, much as you might have hoped. You are here, now, inside an old, decrepit house where you have been given what appears to be a permanent residency. While you apparently have a power to aid you, it's no comfort. You have no option to leave, you have no way to escape, and the rules hammered to your door doesn't help the creeping sense of doom pooling in your stomach.

...I'm very sorry to hear that. This is all such a shock to begin with, to have to go through it twice over... I can't even imagine.

Still, I imagine your experience will be a boon to the rest of us as we try to navigate whatever's become of us.

[She takes a step forward, clasping her hands in front of her and bowing her head slightly.]

[He nods.] Of course. I plan to explore this area more, as well, to see just what kind of place we've been trapped in.

I've been doing some preliminary rounds, myself.

It... doesn't seem like we've been given much to work with. This place doesn't look like it's been occupied since the Dark Ages. Much less updated...

[Emma has Seen the latrines, and she's less than impressed.]

Or even cleaned. [There's dust almost everywhere.] It certainly suggests we've been brought to a different time, though I don't know enough about historical weapons to determine an exact date from what I've seen.

I can't say that I do, either. I know everything certainly seems old enough to date back to the Dark Ages, but... what I know of that time period had very little to do with weapons like that.

[It has way more to do with gundams.]

A different time... yes, at the very least, that does appear to be true. I almost wonder if that's all that's changed...

[Hey, maybe the gundams are on a higher floor.]

It's likely this is a different world as well. For example...do you know what Pokemon are?

...I can't say that I do, no.

[She'd be kind of interested in learning, though! ...Ah, though, maybe now isn't the time.]

And I suppose orbal energy doesn't ring any bells for you, either?

[Now is probably the worst time. Not to mention he doesn't have his Pokemon for a visual demonstration anyways.]

It doesn't, no. That's a common concept where you're from?

It's our main source of power, so, yes. I'd say it's fairly common.

[Oh, come on. It's not the worst time. The worst time would be during an actual murder! The door to Eric's room doesn't count!

But she sighs.]

That's making the whole "different worlds" thing sound more and more like our truth...

I see. My world just uses electricity. [Of course, it could be a case of different names for the same thing or something like that.]

I suppose we might have to talk to the rest of our fellow captives to get a better idea about what else is different between worlds. There might even be someone who's from a similar time as this.

Mm. I won't bore you with details now. It's hardly important to us at the moment, anyway.

That does seem like a good idea, though. Once we have a handle on the place, perhaps it would be wise to call a meeting? There's nothing in these rules against that...

That would definitely be useful. Our captors will probably summon us to meet them at some point, and at least everyone will be in the same room to plan things out then. Though I suppose a note outside the doors would work as well. [They're all squeezed so tight together one note will probably be enough for everyone to see.]

Mm. [She nods in agreement.] Assuming we can find paper and pen, anyway. I imagine they must exist in this place somewhere.

They have those lists of rules they put on our doors, so there's paper somewhere in this place. We can use the backs, if necessary. We merely need writing implements of any sort.

[hexposition]

And ink.

I... do suppose there are ways around both, but I assume it's safe to say neither of us want to resort to that?

[Writing with blood ain't fun, yo.]

I suppose this is the sort of place to have separate pens and ink. [A solemn shake of the head.] Definitely not. [Blood should be saved for important cryptic dying messages only.]

It's fairly common back where I come from, as well.

[Discussing Zemurian technology is always such a trip. Giant robots and airships? Yes! Refrigerators and ballpoint pens? Wooooah, what's that?]

We'll track down something. If all else fails, I can always try to make ink out of some of the flowers in the garden... we'd just need a way to get some water boiling.

Well, if we can find a proper container, I should be able to help with that as well. My power is apparently to control and create fire, though I'll probably practice a while to see how well I can control it.

Heehee... well, that's convenient, isn't it? Mine is to control and create water.

[She smiles.]

I need to put in some practice myself so I don't make a mess of everything, but it sounds like we have everything we need sans container! I wonder if we can find something that will work in the servant's quarters.

They probably would have buckets, wouldn't they? Maybe even ones made of the right material. [He starts in that direction, looking curious.] I suppose we could check right now, too.

I would hope! And this place is old enough that I can't imagine they make a habit of using plastic...

[She'll trot right along after him.]

Let's hope they don't use wood instead. [He thinks there's some way to boil water in a wooden bucket still, but metal would probably be best.]

Ah, good point... with enough distance and slow heating, it may be possible without catching the bucket on fire, but it would certainly just be easier if they use metal...

[Alas, as they walk in, they'll find that's not to be. Wood buckets, ahoy.]
