...we came in?

POOR UNFORTUNATE SOULS

[There's no doubt that those who wake up will vaguely remember a dream.

In that dream, at least for most people, there are two figures, informing them each that they had a Title. With that title came a power. More than that, they were being given rooms, as if they were meant to stay in the dark and gloomy place where their dreams placed them. The Strangers might have found this to be a ridiculous proposition. Unless they have been through this before, then were probably not surprised in the least.

All of this, of course, ended with a sense of inexplicable dread for everyone. Especially when they woke up to find themselves in long, thin, cramped rooms, with only candlelight to give them any illumination.

Yes. Unfortunately, that dream had not been a dream at all, much as you might have hoped. You are here, now, inside an old, decrepit house where you have been given what appears to be a permanent residency. While you apparently have a power to aid you, it's no comfort. You have no option to leave, you have no way to escape, and the rules hammered to your door doesn't help the creeping sense of doom pooling in your stomach.

...

Now.

Where are those two figures that had greeted you to begin with?]

She stretched a bit, pulling the head to her and starting to toss it from hand to hand. "Nah, this is too boring for them. I've got bigger plans for those two. Why, you want to help?" she asked with a grin, tosing her the head.

Harriet catches the head with swiftness and ease, although once she has it she is not really sure that she actually wanted it, so she tosses it over her shoulder and shrugs.

"It would be nice to get straight to the point for once."

The pun wasn't intended.

And yet it was appreciated.

"Well, I do have some plans if you're up for getting your hands dirty. How much of this place do you have mapped so far?" she asked with a savage grin.

"Unfortunately, no secret passages yet," Harriet quips, meaning that what she's found is probably no more or less than anyone else has. "I still need to have a look at the floors below. But they can't be too far away, if they plan to come sacrifice anyone who steps on a bloody spider."

"Well won't it be fun to hear then scream when we kill them all?" she asked with a laugh. "Secret passages are boring, everyone expects them. Nah, we're going to attack loud and proud. Alright. I'll check out the basement. I have a list of materials for you to start gathering. Let's blow this joint."

"Attacking from one wasn't exactly what I meant," She mutters - it was more likely that IF such a thing existed it would be for the Stewards' use. But that's not important so she moves on. Well, it's a little jarring to be treated like some kind of errand girl, but that's also about what she expected from this type of personality (seriously, god, she's like two of her mates combined) so she just kind of.

"Righto, let me know what you find then."

And she doesn't ask outright for the list of materials since she's sure that'd be coming anyway. Besides, whether they can be certain they'd have them here remains to be seen, so she's not going to make promises. ...It almost sounds like she wants to make a bomb. Which, given a large enough one, could explain how she'd plan to kill every spider in such an infested place.

Wouldn't turn out so well for the others around, mind. Possibly including herself.

"What are the materials for?"

"You'll see, and I promise you won't be disappointed. Though if you can't guess, I might be." She walked over and kicked her foot into the center of the beheaded dummy, sending it flying. "Alright. So what we need is broken wood. Lots of it. Place like this will have tons. Fabric too." And then a wicked grin. "and any sort of machine oil or gasoline we can find." Her eyes were practically dancing. She pulled out the list of rules she had ripped from the door. "so nice of them to provide us with a checklist, wasn't it?"
whiterosefoes: (what's this pink spot?)

[personal profile] whiterosefoes 2019-04-22 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
This all sounds very explosive. There's a key ingredient missing though.

"Hrm, gasoline might be difficult. I don't know if you've noticed, but... We appear to have traveled in time, or at least placed in a rather impressive replica."

"Any oil that'll burn will do," she said with a grin. "You seem to be the resourceful type! I'm sure you can figure it out! Kitchen's gotta have something at the least."
whiterosefoes: (What's the meaning of stonehenge?)

[personal profile] whiterosefoes 2019-04-23 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Fair enough," Harriet nods, as neither of them yet know that there is no kitchen, no kitchen at all. But that response was curious in its way, so although it seems about time to leave the arena, she does turn back to look at her on the way out.

"Funny, you didn't seem too bothered about that. Dupree, have you perhaps... been through something like this before as well?"

That other bloke had, so it was worth a go.

"Bothered by what?" she asked. "Oh, this weird place and whatever they did to us?" She shook her head. "Nah, live with Sparks long enough you get used to all sorts of crazy things. Besides, the Baron is pretty sure his son is going to time travel in the future, so that's something. And anyway..." she shrugged.

"It's clear this isn't my world, so who knows, maybe this is what the present is for this place. Though if it is the past... we'll get to kill all sorts of people just by killing their ancestors!" What a fun idea!
whiterosefoes: (:o)

[personal profile] whiterosefoes 2019-04-24 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hooray...?? No, she's pretty sure that idea is ridiculous, but Harriet mostly just feels numb indifference to that suggestion. Maybe it would turn to guilt if something actually happened - that's what's always happened in the past. But now more than ever, she can't spare any more of it on people who don't deserve it.

"Eh, it's not my world either, so I could care less whose future gets mucked up. What on earth's a Spark?"

[personal profile] surrender_and_die 2019-04-24 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Madboys. They make all sorts of fun stuff, and sometimes I get given orders to wipe out whole towns because some Spark turned them into squids or something!" It was awesome!
whiterosefoes: (BAKURA.....)

[personal profile] whiterosefoes 2019-04-25 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"...Because putting them in the ocean would unbalance the ecosystem, I suppose."

This delivery is really dry. What do you mean they turned them into squids!? This explanation raised way more questions than it answered. She's just going to focus on one thing that made sense. Besides the obvious fact that Dupree REALLY likes killing things, that is.

"You take orders from that Baron guy?"

[personal profile] surrender_and_die 2019-04-26 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, more because they were all shooting acid at the castle," she said with a grin. So yeah, that one hadn't been hypothetical.

"The Baron and I have a deal. So yeah, he's kind of my boss for the moment. But he's not here to tell me not to kill people! So I want to get as much in as I can before he gets here."
whiterosefoes: (... Sorry.)

[personal profile] whiterosefoes 2019-04-26 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
"You make it sound like you're practicing golf swings," Harriet remarks in awe, really starting to get horrified by her personality, though it's a testament to her resilience for batshittery that she made it this far without running off screaming. She understands killing people out of hatred. This kind of passion for violence is still foreign. But not alien.

"I'm just tired of people who think they can put me wherever I want, like a game piece. Anyone who does that deserves to be crushed."
surrender_and_die: (Best There Is)

[personal profile] surrender_and_die 2019-04-26 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then let's get crushing." she said with a grin. "And besides, Golf is only fun if you get ahold of those exploding clubs. Alright, you have your list, I've got mine, let's destroy this place...."
whiterosefoes: (friendly chat)

[personal profile] whiterosefoes 2019-04-27 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
It's still worth a shot, anyway.

"Right. I'll see you later then."

"Yeah, sure." Harriet finally turns to part from the murderous woman, and keeps her eyes open for the things she mentioned while exploring the rest of the mansion.

Ultimately, though, she finds there's not even a kitchen, let alone the cooking oil she's looking for, and the pickings for the other things are nowhere near enough to smoke out their captors, let alone burn down the house - the only fabric to be found is a few maid outfits, and the only wood (that wouldn't require her to break all the furniture, anyway) is in the dining room fireplace. Dupree may think of some creative ideas, but from Harriet's perspective, this plan is already a pipe dream. And anyway, she'd rather focus on one that only kills the ones responsible, even if she doesn't care that much about the others who are here.

This will be a longer game than they expected. As such, she doesn't go too far out of her way to try finding her new 'friend' again - it's not that big of a mansion, they'll run into each other sooner or later.
