AFTER TRIAL

[Well then. After that horrifying end to the trial, Harriet is in kind of a panic mode, and with nothing really to work down from it. She imagines everyone else is the same way. Krone had previously seemed like the meeting-holding-adult type, but that was obviously shot to hell now. As the murdergame veteran, should she step up? Even though it hardly feels that way, when nothing had been like this.

Eventually, she can be found reluctantly pasting up a notice on the back of some sheet music.]

Meeting in the parlour.

[She thought about writing, "for information gathering", or maybe, "for story telling", since they need to make some actual progress, or since Akko liked stories. In the end, though, she doesn't want to discourage any particular types, so she just leaves it at that and brings her bowl of weird fruits for those who would rather try their luck with these than horror foods that possibly come out of killer muppets.]

[At the meeting proper, Harriet will just gesture at the funky fruit bowl to anyone who looks like they're still hungry.]

Take one if you like. I already had one of the damned eggs.

[And then she crosses her arms, leaning back on the sofa.]

If anyone has a story to tell, or something they found... or whatever. Let's just, have a chat. I'm sure Akko won't want us to mope.

[She's not good at this! But she's trying.]

[Zelda took one of the strange fruits. Is this edible? Well it's worth a try...although she sure doesn't feel very hungry right now.

Having found nothing she wants to talk about, she mutters]

...I can't think of any happy stories right now.

[It's not easy to remember happy stories when your home was destroyed. Kind of makes many of them seem much more grim]

Ah... then... [Conversation topics, might as well keep it basic.] ...This fruit, I'm not sure what it's called, but I tried the puffy bit. Tastes like nuts. You might want to save it for later when you're feeling more hungry. And you probably shouldn't eat the seed. I think.

[She doesn't know for a fact but there's a lot of fruit seeds that are poisonous.]

At this point anything would be better than the sunflower seeds. [She manages to smile a bit] It's quite generous of you to share all these with the rest of us.

Yeah. I should probably hoard, given what we know. But I figure they're weird enough I'll still be left with some...

[She wouldn't blame anyone for not trusting EVEN MORE weird food, but at least these don't glow!!]

I hadn't seen any fruit like this one before. I will take some of the seeds back home if I can.

[Thinking about bringing something new to Hyrule makes her feel somewhat better]

[Harriet smiles a bit. She didn't expect her to do that, but it makes sharing the fruit with her seem a little more worthwhile than just scraping by without terror snacks.]

Oh, that's right. You enjoy gardening, don't you...

[at least, she thinks she's seen her hanging around in the garden while she was passing by.]

Is there a certain plant you especially like? Or flower?

There's one flower I like... [It would be so much easier if she got one to show, but hey, better try anyway] It's a flower that's rare and grows only in the wild, despite our efforts to grow it domestically.

It's called the Silent Princess. It's blue, delicate and rather small, but it's known for its beauty.

[She sounds so fond of that flower]

It can't be tamed! [Harriet chuckles. She can see why a royal would find something like that appealing.] I suppose half of the beauty is the surprise of finding it then.

If no one else has something, I obtained a book from home with a story about knights that I could read for us.

Either that or we could share a bit more about ourselves or our homes. I definitely noticed today that we barely know each other and definitely don't understand each other's situations back home or even what our homes are like.

Is it... just about knights?

[She seems slightly uncomfortable with this.]

Just the traditional sort of story about some knights saving their princess from a dragon. If it's not your sort of thing I can share some things from memory. I've traveled a lot and know much about the legends of various lands.

[a look like "you too??" although she really has no idea what the driving sentiment is.]

[very slight wince about knights, but no, it's fine, she's sure they're fine knights and all. Getting to know everyone sounds marginally better though.]

Ah, I could definitely try. It's been a couple years since I've been home, though...

I'm an explorer and travel a lot and I'm always interested in tales of people's adventures.

Adventures are overrated. I'm perfectly fine talking about my home... I'm from London, and I used to go to university there. Then in my free time, I mostly would duel. It's a card battle game that's popular worldwide, though I know that's not the case in most universes. The holograms at the tournaments were incredible, and I met a lot of my best mates there... they're what I missed the most. I never would have left it, before. I imagine we all have someone we miss, though.

Yeah, I miss Ricotta. She's my... er, daughter. Not related by blood, I found her and adopted her since she had no one else.

I have to ask though, what's a hologram?

Oh, they're projections... images made with clever lighting, but they look real. It's a technology invented by a company called Industrial Illusions, who also created the card game... adaptation. [She has to correct herself since now she knows it was actually fuckin' magic.] I met their CEO, before. I think he's the descendant of another guy I met during the Wars of the Roses.

[And about half of that went over Thanatos' head. Honestly just saying they were magical images would make more sense.]

Now I see why so many of you seemed to have trouble adjusting here. I come from a place more similar to this mansion, though less creepy. Can't even see how people could make images with light.

I'm not having too much trouble. Since I've been trapped in a time period like this for months before. It basically looks the same as magic, anyway.

[See, if he knows magic, she can adjust. Harriet couldn't tell at a glance if he's a ye olde or not.]

You too, huh? [Hi, Arthur is here and has a little more life to him. Though he's still pretty shaky after everything that was that execution.] What kinds of places have you explored?

I've been almost everywhere except the Atlas Continent. Definitely not crazy enough to go sailing near the Vortex of Canaan. My most recent expedition was meant to be going back to the Sahala Desert in Afroca, but we got shipwrecked on the Isle of Seiren. The Isle of Seiren is a cursed deserted island that no one has ever left before I woke up here. Mostly I'm interested in ancient ruins and the histories of lost cultures though as of late I've been forced to study more about species that should have been long extinct.

Wow.... That's a lot. I only started having real adventures pretty recently, the Library mostly had me on boring missions before. But the Yggdrasil Labyrinths are the most dangerous places in the world, and I've been all through one.

Of course an old man like me has seen a lot. Someday you'll have plenty to share too. We just need to all get out of here alive.

So tell me about these labyrinths.

I only know the Etria Labyrinth well, I know a little about the others, but my team was the first time anyone from the Library went into the one in Etria.

Yggdrasil is a giant tree, bigger than anything. And there's seven of them, scattered across the whole world! Each of them has a huge Labyrinth full of monsters and mysteries. If they're all like Etria, then it's like.... Imagine like, thirty forests, stacked on top of eachother. But they're not all the same. Explorers like me go in to see what we can carry out, 'cause there's loads of treasure in there too!

Most explorers get killed on the first couple floors, and it only gets more dangerous. They were stuck with only the first eight floors, until we came along!
