WEEK 3

WEEK 3

[Well. Good morning, Strangers. When you wake up, you will realize two things.

The first is that something has changed with your memories. One of them is different from when you recall it being before. Clearer, more coherent, more...correct, somehow.

Could it have been an effect of what happened with the trial? You don't know. What you do know is that the staircase outside of the bedrooms has also changed-the way is no longer blocked. There is a new floor above to explore, now.

What do you do, now? Will you eat anything that had been offered by the Stewards, if you'd managed to snag some of it during the trial? Will you continue to dive into the mystery of this place? And if you do-how much more will it cost you?

There is, unfortunately, only one way to find out.

There are twelve strangers in this place.]

[He's just going to stop moving his hand because that is just so weird with him wearing gloves and all too. He might be accepting of magic, but it's not something he'd even been capable of using without some item making it possible.]

Really. Never discount humor or luck. That joke now is a nearly completed ship that will get everyone home. [Assuming they deal with the more immediate threat, but he's not going to mention that stuff and worry the poor girl.]

Even when not trapped on a beast filled deserted island I found plenty of chances. Being an explorer is a rather risk filled profession.
silvertongueheir: (Til now I've been pretending)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2019-05-08 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Right, he probably doesn't have Pokemon to help him out there.] It sounds like you and that whip have been through a lot together. Or have you had several over the years?
whiterosefoes: (the flowers were drugged!?)

[Harriet's here and wearing the outfit she got back, which is fortunately a lot more conducive to bouncy time than armor of any type. She's trying to listen to everyone else, but her hallucinations have gotten a bit worse, and rocking on this kind of scenario reminds her of the sea - once she can almost feel it rising up to her ears, she hastily rolls down the tongue and then glares back over her shoulder at the big cat as she mutters.] Really milking that twenty-percent, aren't you- they. Rgh...

[The cat is too big. Don't talk to the bouncy castle, Harriet.

She stands up, pretending she meant to do that as the sand beneath her shoes brings her back to reality. She takes a few paces forward. Yes. Obviously just for dramatic effect.]

... A few of us were talking about fighting the monster. Or one of the stewards. I've gotten some of my powers back, enough that I'm sure I could easily.

[She pauses, remembering her main power is still one of the less offensive ones. Even if the armory gives her courage, she'd still probably be better off sniping with arrows in the back.]

Back anyone up who's willing to go in with the intent to kill.

[Which may seem like a bad thing to say when they're resisting the motive, but 1) she's baseline agitated and 2) anything less had a higher chance of ending in a casualty, from where she's standing. But yeah Serious Poll WHO IN HERE TRYNA START A RIOT.]

...that was my suspicion as well; I found a bottle of blood in the walls just the other week.

[ Well hi, it's the other person who has "vampires" on their list of dislikes. ]

[Okay well Krone was listening intently to the letter getting read out loud at first but it turns out NOBODY in this thread is actually from the United States by any stretch of the imagination so SHE GUESSES SHE'S GOTTA]

To the very best of my knowledge, we're not in Nevada.

Let's take Kirogi's ignorance of modern things at face value. Assume this building really was constructed based on whatever materials and technologies were convenient at the time "in the past". We all know this isn't the architecture that'd be convenient for a desert region like Nevada. But also, the design is as European as it gets, isn't it? There wasn't really European colonization of the Western United States before the year 1776, and this place is less modern than that. To give one example, the harpsichord was already well-established by then, in my world; you won't find anything like it in the music room, let alone a piano.

[personal profile] necroyalty 2019-05-08 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Is that-

[ Her eyes fixate on the book. She'd recognize that fatass tome of cursed juju anywhere. ]
relieable: but it does (i don't think that should turn me on)

[personal profile] relieable 2019-05-08 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Uh. I got it from the wheel thingie. [he would pick it up and hand it to her, but he doesn't want to touch something so cursed] Is it yours?
necroyalty: (began to rise)

[personal profile] necroyalty 2019-05-08 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
As a matter of fact, it is.

[She'll pick it up, don't worry.]

...thank you. To think that years of my work may have been forever separated from me...
relieable: (but what if i don't want to share)

[personal profile] relieable 2019-05-08 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
[she... really seems attached to that book. then again, Osomatsu supposes it all makes sense, now that he knows who it belonged to]

...So they are spells...
necroyalty: (SPOOOOKY SCARY SKELETONS)

[personal profile] necroyalty 2019-05-08 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
[If he's seen her handwriting sample from the trial, it's also in the less fancy, more compact writing she uses.

She smiles.]

I'm afraid I'm not exactly the best transmuter, if it was a means of creating gold you sought.
relieable: (i've hit rock bottom)

[personal profile] relieable 2019-05-08 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, I wasn't lookin' for that, honest. [Akko and Ambrose both told him it was impossible to use magic to make gold] I just wanted to see what was inside...

[and now he wishes he hadn't]
necroyalty: (spooky scary skeletons)

[personal profile] necroyalty 2019-05-08 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Anything arouse your curiosity in particular?
relieable: (i was wondering where the donuts went)

[personal profile] relieable 2019-05-08 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
[a pause... he thinks about what he saw in the book]

I dunno. A lot of the spells seemed... [dark] Like they were curses.

[Animate Dead comes to mind]
whiterosefoes: (So we're actually -storming a castle.-)

[personal profile] whiterosefoes 2019-05-08 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Not to your taste?

[Harriet's not sure why you'd react THAT way after having a drink.

But if she doesn't want it, she'll finish it!! Only because she hasn't decided what she wants though.]
whiterosefoes: (STANLEYYYY)

[personal profile] whiterosefoes 2019-05-08 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
[This motive seems to really strike a nerve. Harriet's voice scratches with infuriation.]

You...! You really believe you can top the fate we already won!? What planet do you come from?!

[Harriet spins on her heel and leaves the tavern as soon as she can. Her heart is pounding, though. She knows very well that the odds aren't perfect, and she's already lost that person once...

So as soon as she's a good distance out of his sight, her fist meets the wall.]
hexposition: (☆⌒*. 4)

[personal profile] hexposition 2019-05-08 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Goodness... I guess you really can't complain about Lady Luck looking somewhere else for a second, then! That kind of luck, normally that'd be something you'd have to manipulate some odds for, but there's no way...

[A pause, though.]

But really... all the foods in the world to ask for and a jar of pickles? I mean, I like pickles well enough, but...

[personal profile] yonosoymaria 2019-05-08 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Okay, then, just going to try and steer the goat away from the bar... is it going to start walking in whatever direction it's pointed?]
yonosoymaria: (Default)

[personal profile] yonosoymaria 2019-05-08 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still wondering why there was one in among the bedcovers in the "servants' quarters" -

[Except sudden comprehension dawns visibly upon his face. A vicious little smile follows.]

You don't think that fussbudget is stuck sleeping there if he wants to get away from the loud one, do you? But just imagine if they're crammed in like students in a dormitory somewhere we can't get to!
yonosoymaria: (Default)

[personal profile] yonosoymaria 2019-05-08 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[If none of it came from a place wine shouldn't have been, he's probably fine!

Probably.
]

I do wonder at that. They say before he lost the ability to create, one of the greater among the un-dead had sketched out designs for devices that would keep sunlight blocked, but... it would be simpler to create something like the Forest of Eternal Night, if they have the power to change humans into... into whatever it is we now are.

[personal profile] yonosoymaria 2019-05-08 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
If we had a sewing machine, I can manage straight lines. Rough trousers wouldn't be too hard to cut down from the clothing we've found here, I think.

[This is very likely overconfidence born from never having had to do more than simple repairs.]
yonosoymaria: (it's my fault.)

[personal profile] yonosoymaria 2019-05-08 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
This place is weighing on me... it's pulling memories out of my head and laying them over itself like they're real.

[He looks at the cigarette in his hand suspiciously, as though he's worried it too might not be real, and then looks back at Thanatos.]

I think a drink might be in order now, yes.
yonosoymaria: (Default)

[personal profile] yonosoymaria 2019-05-08 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[He nods, slowly.]

From what you've told me, it... my father studies the mind, that isn't my field, but from what I've picked up listening to him talk about his work... to put it bluntly, enormous stress causes hallucinations. We don't know why, we can't prevent it, but it's a very human response to something no one should have to go through.
