FINAL INVESTIGATION

[The morning of the last day-the day of the deadline promised by the Elder Steward--there is a loud CRACK that echoes through the Mansion. It comes above, over, and around them.

Indeed, it seems to originate from outside.

Those who go outside will find themselves staring at a sky that is cracking everywhere. The cracks Osomatsu had seen before had somehow spread over the days unchecked. Now, the cracks become larger and larger, until finally, the sky itself breaks.

Glass-like pieces fall downwards as it shatters, dissipating lone before they hit the ground into sparkles. A cool breeze suddenly blows through the garden, while the sun suddenly appears for the first time, shining high in the sky. A...slightly creeping-looking, laughing sun, but that doesn't seem to be an illusion, unfortunately. Also it doesn't look ready to swoop down to attack them, which might be a small comfort.

The hole in the wall that had been made earlier is still there, large enough to crawl through. And when they do, the Strangers will find themselves in a more open grassy field, with a beach to the south.

The nice weather and grass, however, is not all that is there. It's clear there are other places in this complex to explore.]




[Before anyone can react, there is the sudden telltale ticking that begins in their heads, and their investigation scrolls appear. It's clear that the Stewards have started a countdown for them to get to the Temple, which sits beyond their immediate area, within a forest of trees that the grass transforms into. But, perhaps, the Strangers can use this to their advantage. Now, they know they have a time limit to search these places for more information about just why they are there.

Perhaps, now, they might have a chance to find something useful.

There are six strangers left. Best get to work.]

Meet Soul Evans and his very close female friend. As you can see, they're children of Our Lady, like us. Stronger than ordinary humans. But unfortunately for them, Arachnophobia is stronger than Death.

And Death knew this when he sent his students weaker than himself into the past to protect his world order.

This was Giriko's house. He took me there when he saved me from Beldine, though I assumed it was a room elsewhere in the mansion at the time. He eats and sleeps there, and has cobwebs to call us.

Giriko keeps several more of his "G" line of embryos there and had a formula for a Brew that he would use to rapidly grow these bodies into his own age so he could transfer his consciousness into them and thus wait eight hundred years if necessary. Apparently a blonde sister of Our Lady stole them from The Great Old One?

He also kept two souls that I have to assume belong to Soul and his friend, since the bag unfortunately made of her skin was also present.

Of course, instead, Our Lady is going to come back much sooner, and save future generations of her children from becoming Death's soldiers.

There's a map with a storm area above "Alaska" and then a location in Nevada ("salvation", remember) labelled as "D.C." I thought that was on the east coast... Could someone with more knowledge of the United States please confirm??

[well, Osomatsu's a little nervous about what he's going to write for evidence. he exits the building and sits outside with his papers and his mirror frame, then opens the scroll to write]

hey gang we don't have a lot of time so i'm gonna be quick.
went into a building near the beach. it was dark inside and lit up with candles.
-found a bunch of papers... one paper talked about how they are trying to turn us into kishin, whatever that means.
-their enemy also seems to have anchored his soul into one place. we might be used to fight him? lady wants to spread madness.
-elder steward has a weakness.
-also found a list of us. it's The List Of Those Who Might Be Pleasing (Or Not) Our Lady. has levels by certain names? also things we've done.

[he's being vague on purpose. he has the papers, and he intends to share them at trial. and to get some answers]

-lastly found a broken mirror with a number on the frame. number is: 4242564. maybe a clue to unlocking something?
will bring papers to the Temple.

in the small building on the beach i found a blood-stained corner that had a couple tables and uh torture instruments
it seemed like a lot of bad things happened there

There were all sorts of jars with bones and nasty fleshy bits in. The labels said they'd all belonged to witches, but it looked rather like a mix of human and animal to me.

We also found the 'Morality Manipulation Machine', which looks like a chair with a helmet. According to a note written to the Lady, this must have been used in order to twist our memories through some attempt to warp our moralities. It seems not to have worked very well, and apparently they were planning to use the fifteen of us to observe its preliminary effects.

I don't wish to alarm anyone, but I found this note among the other things on the desk, as well as the plans for weapons that looked eerily similar to ourselves.

Then she begins to mutter an incantation. ]
