The world's leading experts have been trying to find a cure, to no avail. Th blight keeps changing, keeps foiling all attempts at being fully understood. It's almost sentient, or at least more sentient than any disease that's been encountered before. People fear the disease jumping from what's left of the grapes into other plants, into animals, or even humans.
You can only watch as entire economies and ecosystems collapse. You can only bury your head in your hands as your own business comes to its end. The destruction of the clusters of grapes has not simply destroyed the wine industry, either-other businesses are being destroyed by the plague. Food, transport, retail, nothing is untouched.
You look on your own vineyard, its yield almost entirely blackened and dead.
This can't keep going on.

A week has passed since everyone's arrival. No one has died, yet. But surely no one is holding their breath to see if they would survive this unscathed. They are veterans of the game, and they must know that whoever it is that is in charge demands their pound of flesh. The question is when it will happen.
It is the second week, after all-and when the second week of the game comes, death is not far behind. Not even when you wake up, feeling something different in your mind as you remember the truths you originally woke up with, deep in your mind. You feel...lighter, somehow, when you realize there is a change.

Even so, there are 15 strangers left in this place.]

[ No teacher really had such an impact on him as much as Koro-sensei had, so it left an impression he'd never forget.
Blinking a little as Kurama stopped him from continuing to flip through the pages, it wasn't hard to see where one's attention would be drawn to and he almost had to laugh. He'd almost forgotten he'd taken that picture and that it'd ended up in there, but the main focus is definitely that entirely sweet smile Kurama was giving him. Same with those words.
Most people might be mortified or even a bit scared, but Karma? He just stared at the other redhead for a second before laughing, a grin wide on his face now as he raised one hand to wave it almost dismissively in front of him. ]
My, how scary! You don't have to worry about that. I wouldn't ever dream of it.
[ It sounds almost teasing, but at the same time, the majority of his tone and the look on his face says he means every word. ]
That incident in the photo only happened during a class trip and was for a good reason. It was fun seeing how embarrassed he got having to wear it. [ He chuckled a bit, tapping a finger against the photo in question. ] Nagisa always does have the best reactions when it comes to that stuff.

[Despite literally nothing changing, somehow the silent threat is gone now.
Kurama clicks his tongue quietly and gives Karma a sly, sidelong look, still smiling.]
I'm sure he does, but aren't you a little old to still be pulling your crush's pigtails?

[ It would certainly take more than a couple minutes to do that, and now didn't quite seem like the time.
His gaze in the meantime had been focused on the picture in question, tapping a finger against it absently. In a way it does make him miss Nagisa, but also is starting to make him miss the rest of Class 3-E to an extent since everything had been fun and super adventurous. They all had good traits in their own way.
Karma nearly missed that last comment, to which his eyes went a little wide as he wasn't expecting to be so blatantly called out like that. He remembered telling Akira about his recently discovered feelings about Nagisa, but it had never come up before now with Kurama so it was a curious thing wondering where he'd come up with that idea. Were things so transparent with how he felt? ]
Whoah. Hey, now. Nobody said anything about a crush.
[ Yep he is not looking at you now, Kurama. Feelings were hard and he was still in that frame of mind where he was still getting used to that attachment of feeling love for someone else and it was embarrassing as hell. ]
Though even if it is one, maybe that's just how I convey my feelings to someone.
[ In other words he's subtly admitting he hasn't managed to tell Nagisa how he feels yet. ]
