The world's leading experts have been trying to find a cure, to no avail. Th blight keeps changing, keeps foiling all attempts at being fully understood. It's almost sentient, or at least more sentient than any disease that's been encountered before. People fear the disease jumping from what's left of the grapes into other plants, into animals, or even humans.
You can only watch as entire economies and ecosystems collapse. You can only bury your head in your hands as your own business comes to its end. The destruction of the clusters of grapes has not simply destroyed the wine industry, either-other businesses are being destroyed by the plague. Food, transport, retail, nothing is untouched.
You look on your own vineyard, its yield almost entirely blackened and dead.
This can't keep going on.
-
A week has passed since everyone's arrival. No one has died, yet. But surely no one is holding their breath to see if they would survive this unscathed. They are veterans of the game, and they must know that whoever it is that is in charge demands their pound of flesh. The question is when it will happen.
It is the second week, after all-and when the second week of the game comes, death is not far behind. Not even when you wake up, feeling something different in your mind as you remember the truths you originally woke up with, deep in your mind. You feel...lighter, somehow, when you realize there is a change.

Even so, there are 15 strangers left in this place.]

[Arriving at the central building he can be found in the dining hall, choking down some food despite the sandy taste, and then the dressing room where he looks at the men's coats with varying levels of annoyance.]
[Following that he can, of course, be found in the library. Where else would you expect a wizard to be?]

Do not drink the milk. One of the library books called ARE YOU DEVIATING? FIVE WAYS YOU CAN GET BACK ON SCHEDULE, gives drink your milk as a way to get back on schedule.
Anyone with animals should also take care that their animals do not drink the milk.
She doesn't sign it to be safe. If they are less inclined to trust, she named the book and they can look for themselves to confirm it. Feel free to run into her as she's doing this or just assume your character found the note.]
[Later on Vita will be looking for McBurn to give him his clothes back. She'll also be leaving the other items she found, minus the waiter's outfit and lock of hair, in the dining room again. Since there are no potentially dangerous objects this time, she's just going to grab some food afterwards and leave.]

✧ Eric goes shopping ✧
An hour later, most of these things are sitting carelessly on his porch, save for the moon shoes which are on his feet, which are dangling off the roof of his house, because he was a fool and did not respect the bounce. "It'll just be a laugh," he thought. "It probably doesn't go that high," he thought. Now he's stretched across the surface staring into the weird sky as if to think 'any minute now, help cat'. Spike the tuxedo cat, down on the lawn and wearing the little red scarf, is weaving around in circles and meowing up at him to remind him he's dumb.]

He can be found, then, at the dining room with a whole bunch of things! He doesn't have the knife, gun, whip, or umbrella here, though. But everything else is laid out on the table (or wandering around the room, as a certain feline familiar might be, Arthur won't stop him). Arthur himself, ignore the bandage on his head would you, is ready to tuck into some ice cream! Yum!
Yum!
Yum.
....His expression falls as he slowly puts the spoon back in the cup.
A bit later you can find him out in the street with the weapons and the umbrella. He's trying them out! The gun's not loaded, but he can still do stupid poses and pretend! Actually it's kinda better that way! He's terrible with the whip, and knows it, but it's again more about pretending he's cool. The knife he's actually not half bad with, but that's more boring so he's not doing as much with it.
As for the umbrella, well.... Wait, Arthur, no, don't try to throw it like a javelin--]

MONDAY
O̢n̛̛͜ ͡S̸c͝ḩ͠éd́͘ú͘l̵̴͘e̛͏
What, is that not normal? They’ve been running around the pristine streets since emerging from the central building at 5:15, so over two hours now, not breaking a sweat. Now at half past seven it’s time for a leisurely breakfast in the cat cafe. While the rest of the cats wander around like strays, still free, Link has knelt down by one newly-void-eyed cat rolling a ball, in the same rhythm as Hiyori bats one other similarly grim cat’s paws.
They proceed to the library at 9, in separate areas; every 15 minutes, one gets up to inform the other of an interesting fact just read, which they chat about for three minutes, before the first returns to his own seat.
At 12 sharp, they head for the kitchen to grab pills, which put a distinct smile on their faces and a spring in their steps that carries all the way over to the dressing room, which they leave at 1 in gray golf shirts. The better to move around in as they take out weapons two at a time to compare and train with.
6 is dinnertime, the pills taken to be swallowed in the dining room this time. And then, they leave at a brisk pace, much more difficult to stop, heading for House 16; the door shuts at 7.
All in all an ordinary day during which nobody should worry about anything, because they’re happy and comfortable.]

For some of the day, he's in Crab-o-Licious, with a bunch of things on the table in front of him. No spear, goose, pendant, or photo, though. And he's munching on the popcorn himself.
Later, he's at the library, reading And Then There Were None. He laughs a bit to himself as he flips through the pages.]

the key and the harmonica are sitting on the pavement, and he's out in the street dribbling the basketball. the tunic is around, too, if you want to see it. attached to his hip is a red and white ball that contains something precious to him. he got that back from Caleb, thank goodness. he'll be there for a few hours, just hanging out. it's boring without a television or a radio...
later on in the evening, he can be found in the dining room. he's got a few pills with him and he's... opening them?]

TUESDAY
MO̷͜T̡I̢͝V̴̨̀E͢:́ ͢͠You͜͠r͏͝ ͜͡G҉re̢at͏͜è͞s͘͢t D̶̨e͏sir͘͞e̴͘
Welcome to the second Tuesday of your stay in the City. We notice that you continue to desire... Trips outside. Contact with loved ones. Pretty much anything besides acquiescing to our leader. So... we've decided to give you a chance at what you apparently want more than to be fifteen strangers alive and obedient! Anyone who kills and gets away with it could receive whatever! You! Desire! Tell them what they could win, Link!
[At the word ‘win’, they both blink, completely in sync.]
Weeeeell, Hiyori, there’s a wide variety of prizes that we have here, all designed to be exactly what you most want! [Various zany images ensue.] A new car! A house! Your boss’s head on a stick! A lifetime supply of pasta! A lifetime supply of donuts! A lifetime supply of pasta and wide variety of sauces! An all expenses paid trip to Fiji!
[The lights go out.]
Or… maybe something else?
[The voices ring out in a series of spotlit short cuts.]
Whatever you desire. Whatever you desire. Whatever it is you desire. Whatever your heart desires. Whatever you desire. Whatever you desire. Whatever you desire. Whatever it is you desire. Whatever your heart desires. Whatever you desire.
[The two hosts standing alone on the studio again.]

he wonders what Mira would have him do. was she suffering alone again, like the last time he went missing? no, this time Sean is there, they'll be fine. he shouldn't be a hypocrite.]

Just keep smiling. Keep smiling...
[it feels like it's been so long since he's broken into this mantra, but it's happening, only slightly off beat with the ticking of the city. He can be found like that while he's in the kitchen, taking pills for himself and feeding Gab his rationing of ham. after a moment of watching the dog quietly eat it, a more genuine quirk to his forced smile comes out.]
I bet your taste buds stopped working a long time ago, huh old man.
library✧
[none of these things Eric got from vending are especially useful to him, so he's decided since one of them is a book then this is the best place to drop em' off. although now that he's here, on second thought, maybe with this nobel prize he can pretend to be a genius. and on a third thought, should he check this arcane tome to see if he can use it with the sphere?? he technically taught himself a different kind of magic in the last murdergame he was in, so shit, let's be hogwarts part 2. this probably won't work, but what kind of adventure game character would he be if he didn't try to combine some clearly matching items he found. come watch this milquetoast normie attempt to study wizardry or whatever this is.]
cats✧
[Gab is not the only pet Eric has, but he's letting Spike be an outdoor cat in hopes that this makes him harder for the hosts to find at any given time. and also, he has a lot of time to kill in the day, so finding the kitty again is just a break in the monotony here. around the housing area, he can be spotted wiggling his finger around at the ground.... and then moments later, the tuxedo kitty comes running, because Eric is a human laser pointer. watch them play while the dog circles them slowly and curiously. then he'll drop them both off in house 15 and go off to cat nya-land and try out this trick there too. the free kitties need some stimulation after all - he won't let them succumb to the ticking like Hiyori said they would!!]

THURSDAY

Anyone close enough might notice the positively focused, almost angry aura about him as he's doing this. Possibly as if he's imagining someone else at the receiving end of his blade.
Sometime after lunch, it wouldn't be hard to find him in the library, sitting next to a shelf with a various collection of different books sitting piled next to him. It's mostly to pass time, but also these were from different times and places from what he's figured out so he was also trying to see if they were actually any good.
In a small pile nearby the books is some of the things he got from the vending machine the other day. Minus the outfit, of course. Mostly because it did belong to him
It was Nagisa's but it counts, okay?and he was keeping it at his place for the time being. Surely someone would recognize these things and come pick them up.While it was still 'day' out, what might give people concern would be witnessing Karma managing to climb up the side of his house and stand on his roof. Looking up at the sky for a few moments before walking to the very back side of the house so he's standing on the edge, waiting a few seconds before pushing off hard and absolutely booking it across the roof but he doesn't stop.
Nope.
These little houses have just enough room on them to give him proper momentum and he LEAPS off of his, soaring through the air and landing on House 9 amidst a roll for a better landing. Not really caring if he had an audience or not. ]
Huh. Not bad. Could have done that a little smoother.

Because that’s what most corgis are like. We’re short.
So I’m stuck with a puppy. Great.
I’m not a puppy, I’m a corgi; it’s my breed.
[If you’re outside Crab-o-Licious, that’s what you’re hearing. Apparently someone is talking with an annoyed King-someone who’s voice you don’t recognize.]
So, what’s wrong with your face?
Nothing? My face is fine.
No it isn’t. Dogs are supposed to be cute. Meanwhile, you look like...that.
And what’s that supposed to mean?
Oh, I think you know exactly what that means.
[Entering the restaurant, you’ll find...King glaring at a hat. A hat that glares back. Also, there’s a cat on another chair napping-basically, there’s a lot of stuff in here, minus a soda can.
So...an interesting sight.]

Look. There's no other way to put this. He's feeding the Abyss. He's got the trapdoor open and he's keeping the cats away from it and dropping random small items into it that he doesn't think should trigger the property damage rule.
He tries a bite of the pumpkin soup, grimaces when it tastes like sand soup, and pours it into the darkness.
A collection of other items are on the table, though he actually has the lockpick hidden in his hair and the photo album is open like he's been looking through it.]

[Well, relatively. He's dragged a chair outside and is sitting in it, reading a book that definitely isn't from the library. A number of other items (minus the stone, hat, and smaller scarf) lay scattered around him, and the dog at his feet is munching on some of the bacon. Frumpkin sits curled around his shoulders, and occasionally he lifts a hand from the pages to scritch the cat's head.]
