MOCK WEEK

[Awaken.

Fifteen strangers have been gathered to the Depths. When they awaken, they will feel nauseous in their stomachs. No doubt confused. Perhaps, even terrified. And certainly, there is a good reason for it - they are not where they were before. If they had powers back where they came from, they seem to be all gone. And it appears that someone has left...guidelines for them. Who? Its uncertain. So far, there seems to be no one else save for them in this hot and stuffy place. No...'intercessor' to be seen yet, certainly.

There are a few small graces for this group, at least. Their memories are intact. And, perhaps, they will discover the power that their Title brings to them. But these are only small graces.

So welcome.

Enviable, one would think, to have a new world to run off to. Humanity always needs more than it can take. Speaking of a new world, a boy I spoke with said something about alternate worlds. Do you believe this is one?

It's entirely possible. Many exist.

[ She says it as fact. ]

As a scientist, I have seen them.

[crywiththesaints]

I see.

[She doesn't seem surprised.]

Another extraordinary mind would know. Most pass it off as fiction, but that applies to many things that go unseen.

Fiction... fiction is only what people cannot understand or refuse to research. Many people view "magic" the same way, but it exists in my world, as well.

I have used it many times.

[ Yeah, she's a scientist AND a mage. ]

Oh? It must be common, if there's no need to hide it. Of course, different places have different rules, in more ways than one.

[coldsouls]

[ A wry smile. ]

I have little reason to... most of the time. Especially now that I am without it. This information is now simply that: information. After all, there were not many sorcerers or witches left after the fall of the kingdom that kept them together reliably.

[ Aside from which, people knowing that sometimes helped her find the Vessels of Sin when she needed to. It sometimes got her information. People would buy and sell things for magic... ]

Interesting to hear. Is there much of a difference, sorcerors versus witches? Or just a gender divide?

[coldsouls]

Women tend to hold all the magic in my world, honestly. I've met perhaps all of one or two men that have it. So, yes, there is. It's rare for men to possess that talent.

[ It's not really that intriguing, but hey, she'll indulge. ]

I see. In the interest of fair sharing, the system in the world I just came from has a divide, but the basis isn't gender. It's more... one's views. On themselves, the world around them, life.

[coldsouls]

Belief has little impact in the systems of my world. There are people who run these things. Rules in place. Ways things work, no matter what is going on.

It interests me that belief could affect things... but it doesn't surprise me. The human mind is incredibly powerful.

[ It was, after all, her study place. ]

Something like that. Tell me... Given the choice, would you change the world around you, or change yourself?

[coldsouls]

Change? Me?

[ She sounds incredulous. ]

After all these years--

[ ... She holds her hand out for a moment, glancing at it as if contemplating something. The gesture doesn't mean anything in particular, she just... is staring at something to do it. ]

... Well. I am... someone with an excess of time. A capricious person by nature. But...

[ ... She's not a good person enough to be worthy of change, so... ]

... I would rather see the world change. That there would be less tragedies occurring everywhere I set foot, every so many years.

[ Is her voice sad? Melancholy? It's hard to tell, but her expression is hard to read. ]

[Sakura nods with a small frown.]

Then we're the same in that regard.

[coldsouls]

I find it unlikely that we're TOO alike in that department, but perhaps we see eye to eye.

[ Small smile. ... The years inside Evillious really have changed her. She's so prone to wanting to put on a fake smile.

It's hard not to, at this point. Easier to do so. It slides onto her face too easily. ]

No need to be so depressing, though. After all, it's not as though we've been instructed to kill one another.

Perhaps. It's more important to investigate first, either way.

Here's something to ponder, if you want to investigate: see if you can't find anyone else in here that speaks of magic.

[ Might interest them, after all. ]

... And ask them how they're feeling about it in here, if they contain the potential for it.
