MOCK WEEK

[Awaken.

Fifteen strangers have been gathered to the Depths. When they awaken, they will feel nauseous in their stomachs. No doubt confused. Perhaps, even terrified. And certainly, there is a good reason for it - they are not where they were before. If they had powers back where they came from, they seem to be all gone. And it appears that someone has left...guidelines for them. Who? Its uncertain. So far, there seems to be no one else save for them in this hot and stuffy place. No...'intercessor' to be seen yet, certainly.

There are a few small graces for this group, at least. Their memories are intact. And, perhaps, they will discover the power that their Title brings to them. But these are only small graces.

So welcome.

Everyone is arming themselves already, then.

[ She doesn't even look up from what she's doing, not immediately considering present company a threat. ]

Response: It has been some time since I've come across an array of weaponry that did not include firearms. It is important to re-familiarize myself.

You're more for guns, then. [She looks at the walls, then back at Anzu.] I suppose anyone would go for weapons after being told to murder one another. What do you think of that?

Rebuttal: I arm myself as the situation necessitates. It's simply that most of what's here is obsolete in modern combat situations. As such, it has been many years since I have utilized most such implements.

[ An odd assertion, given that she doesn't even look a day over 20. ]

[One the old lady takes in stride, anyway. She looks Anzu over like she's inspecting her.]

A long time, you say. Humanity does have a compulsion to innovate. You could say the same about all life. Even the raccoon learns to dig through garbage to adapt to modern society.

[lingchi]

[ If she's reading her for any sign of emotion, she isn't going to find one. Her face remains expressionless and cold, her words spoken in a constant, almost robotic monotone. ]

Reply: While that is not untrue, that compulsion to innovate is as much a weakness as it is a strength. Humans see only what helps them in the present. They lack foresight. Nations rise to power without realizing they precipitate their own demise in the process.
