Case 1 Afterparty
[That had been a lot. That trial had been a lot. But while Akane half feels like she's dreaming, or like she's waking from a nightmare, and though her head hurts from crying, she had made a promise. A part of her takes refuge in that, as though it were a life ring tossed to a drowning man.
Consequently she has retraced her steps, returned to the kitchen that she'd gone to this morning, and is making soup.
Everyone else who is trapped on this ship are free to disseminate as they will, to pursue their own interests or to grieve, but soon enough after anyone who comes into the dining hall or kitchen (and especially you, Hubert, she is finding you and dragging you in if you will not willingly submit) is going to be offered a bowl of soup.
Everybody feel free to join in on the soup party or else set up your own scenarios, I'm not your mom.]

[he leans in slightly, voice lowered]
Still, I feel her instincts are correct- I can't believe Zero will just let any winner go free. Rebellion will likely be our only recourse. But it must be planned and prepared for. When the time is ripe.
no subject
Naturally.
[he eyes Hubert's notebook for a moment, before looking back up at him]
May I?
[he indicates the notebook]

And it is, like he told others, simply trial notes. But Hubert looks pretty confident that Brain won't be able to read it]

[and Brain picks up the notebook and just
begins to study it
He maybe turns a page or two here and there
And it will, in fact, take several minutes.
At least fifteen, in fact, that he'll sit there, very focused, if not stopped. Maybe even twenty]
no subject
It's enough to make him quietly stand and leave Brain to it and go check on a few other things. Though he does return soon to check his progress]
no subject
He'll look up when Hubert approaches.]
If you don't mind, I'd like to write on this page. [he indicates the page next to Hubert's last entry--blank.]

[there's no way in all the hells... ]

start writing in Hubert's cypher.
when he's finished, he'll turn it around and push it across the table back to him]
no subject
He covers his mouth with one gloved hand, looking awestruck in the classic sense- in that he's a little terrified.]
... I didn't realize your name was so literal.
no subject
Quite literal, in fact.
[he reaches to push his glasses up on his nose]
It's quite a clever cypher. It took me an entire seventeen minutes, fourty-two seconds and eighty-five milliseconds to decipher.
[that smirk widens]
Impressive...for a human.
[is he...teasing?]
no subject
Oh, my poor weak human mind can simply not compete.

[Back to business! And he leans forward to tap on that message he's written in Hubert's cypher, which states, simply in exact, neat handwriting:
I thought this might be a better way to communicate, if we are to talk about such things as rebellion.]
