[It is freezing. The temperature? Who knows at this point.

Today is a day for blankets and whatever you can grab to keep yourself warm. It truly seems like there is a winter without end, and that eventually everything will wither and die, including you. So bitter. So harsh. So cruel.

It's not fair. Then again, didn't Zero say life isn't fair? Well, Zero isn't freezing his butt off. Really, it's just too cold on the ship to do much of anything outside of keeping warm. Like, say, murder.



Right? Well. There's only one way to find out. So, what are the Strangers doing as they wake up shivering on this cold, cold day, which may or may not be a Friday according to the calendar?]

[Well, let's get the obvious out of the way: you found Kaito's body underneath a slot machine.


There will be something obvious, meanwhile, when the body is turned over.]

[ There's a understandable amount of damage that can be expected with this, and even he gets that.

Even so, what is that obvious thing? ]

[The slit throat. It goes from jugular to carotid and is deep.]

[ That made him frown, unfortunately familiar with throat injuries as that's what vampires tended to specialize in. Same with weapons.

Would it seem to someone like him like the injury was made with just a knife or that of a sword? Either way he sure is checking it out, to see if it was a smooth cut or more jagged. ]

[Alastor's...a little late, but the body announcement has him rushing up to the casino. He takes one look at Roland, and immediately rushes over.]

Sorry I'm late...you holding up?

[ He spares a look over at Alastor and he's relieved he's okay but also a touch of weariness on his face. ]

For now, yes. I wasn't expecting to see Kaito end up dead this morning.

[He just gives his shoulder a light squeeze. Roland might notice Alastor himself looks a bit bloody, but none of his wounds look serious.]

I was worried someone might...the hostage barge has to be getting close.

Yeah. Someone really wanted to ensure the safety of that person they care about.

[ There's a thankful smile, then he eyes those injuries with concern. ]

...Are you alright?

Can't entirely say I blame them for thinking this might be the only way. Even I wasn't confident a rescue operation would work.

[He sighs.]

I'm a bit sore, but nothing serious. Was sparring with Aoi a little while before the body announcement.

They may not have come to that a rescue would be even possible at all.

[ If he were not inspecting Kaito's injuries, he would most certainly ask you a multitude of more questions. ]

Is Aoi going to be alright? He sure must be a skilled fighter if he managed to make some injuries on you.

He's got a concussion, so he'll be out of it for a while, but I don't think there's anything life threatening.

[In Alastor's expert blood drinker opinion, is there enough of a mess around the wound to be confident it happened pre-mortem?]

[Yes. In fact, it looks like a killing blow, to be frank.]

[ So this was definitely on purpose. Got it. ]

...Whoever killed him sure didn't waste any time in dealing such a vicious blow.

[ Now was the question on if this was the killing blow for sure or not. That said, he is going to go and check out any other injuries. ]

[Well, remember that arm that was sticking out from under the machine?


Yeah, all the fingers on the hand on that arm are broken.]

[ O h. That sure is concerning.

He's going to look for signs of just how bad all of that mess is, in terms of... how badly broken/crushed are they? Like... bloody or like this happened after death? ]

[There's some bruising, but it's a bit...difficult to tell when exactly this injury was made.]

[ Still concerning and of note here. Could have happened prior to his death for all he knew.

Going to move on and check the next closest injury. How bad is it? ]

[Well, if you're checking on his chest you'll definitely feel swelling and see bruising once you lift his shirt up. Which. Yikes.

Looks like the injury chart got that right.]

Yeah. Looks like this is what killed him...he just bled out.

[At least...he's pretty sure this is blood?? It looks and smells weird. Lick?]

[Going to taste a bit of that probably-blood from around the throat wound.]
