THE SECOND TRIAL
(~SK. 10-11)
[Once the investigation wraps up, Zero's voice emanates once more throughout the Gigantic. The doors to the theater on both the C Deck and D Deck open as he speaks. And yes, when people come in through the C Deck Doors, they will find they can access the lower level from the stairs.
Yay?]
It is time. Come to the theater.
I wouldn't worry about bringing blankets.
[And indeed, when the Strangers come into the theater, they will find that the room is considerably warmer compared to the rest of the ship. There are also changes to the podiums-John, Anya and Kaito's places are all draped in black.
The screens schlllorrrp back in, with Zero's face appearing after a moment of static.]
Of course I am here for any questions. But I believe you know how this goes, so I suggest you begin. Justice delayed is...justice denied.
HANDWRITING CHECK
Now then! If all of you would be so kind as to write down the passages on our two notes and hand them to me, I will compare them to both your samples and to each other. I will, of course, write my own - which I would ask to be reasonably verified by someone else.
[So, he'll essentially be comparing the handwriting of both notes to each other, and then each note to each handwriting sample given by everyone who can at trial.]

It's not a match on either.]

She writes a sentence down first. ]
Sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow.
[ And then she's gonna write the contents of the two notes verbatim. ]

THIS WRITING IS NOT A MATCH TO EITHER SAMPLE!
Now feed me, meow meow. :3]no subject
Stops. Squints at his own handwriting like he doesn't recognize it.
But... oh well, that's not the mystery they're solving here, he's turning it in.]

Brain has also studied my writing for a project we are working on, so he can confirm that I am not changing it if needed.
[Cuz he's a pretty good forger tbh]

Oh right, not a match on either.]

[Someone's gonna have to wrangle Hermes on this. Otherwise, he's just watching.]

The note asking for Kaito to meet in the casino, by contrast....looks close enough to match your handwriting, Makima.]

[She'll comply and her handwriting is....distinctive?
The letters are all on roughly the same line (it is not a straight line) and have the correct end pointing (mostly) up, so we don't have two Alastors here. But none of the letters are the same size or have any consistency, most are kind of wonky-shaped, the lines are wiggly from badly shaking hands...
Basically it looks like it was written by a kindergartener with cold-numbed hands and an excellent grasp on spelling.]

[Ugh, fine. He writes down the passages and...it's terrible, an affront to the English language. The letters are...mostly on a line this time, but the spacing is wrong, some letters are written so badly it's hard to tell what they even are, and some of them might even be upside down. It's basically illegible.]

RESULTS
I have gone through everyone's handwriting, and I am ready to give the results.
First, neither note's handwriting matches the other. This most likely points to two different writers, though one cannot rule out someone knowing how to fabricate their handwriting.
Secondly, The note claiming the Fabricator is Kaito does not have a match of anyone here.
And, finally...The note calling Kaito to the casino's handwriting....is extremely close to Makima's.
[He levels a piercing gaze at her, speaking calmly yet firmly:]
Would you care to elaborate, Miss Makima?
