THE SECOND TRIAL
(~SK. 10-11)
[Once the investigation wraps up, Zero's voice emanates once more throughout the Gigantic. The doors to the theater on both the C Deck and D Deck open as he speaks. And yes, when people come in through the C Deck Doors, they will find they can access the lower level from the stairs.
Yay?]
It is time. Come to the theater.
I wouldn't worry about bringing blankets.
[And indeed, when the Strangers come into the theater, they will find that the room is considerably warmer compared to the rest of the ship. There are also changes to the podiums-John, Anya and Kaito's places are all draped in black.
The screens schlllorrrp back in, with Zero's face appearing after a moment of static.]
Of course I am here for any questions. But I believe you know how this goes, so I suggest you begin. Justice delayed is...justice denied.
QUESTIONS FOR ZERO
no subject
Why did you bring us here?
This game... there's no point to it. All there is in it is pain. Isn't there... enough pain and death in the world already...?
[It's barely a question so much as a protest, but Akane is flushed with fever and woozy with the illness and has cried so much that she barely has any tears left anymore. She's tired, and it felt like something she should say.
Even if it's pointless. Even if everything is futile.]

THE QUESTION
What are the titles, functionality examples, and full consequences (including incapacitation or death) of any and all methods that exist to restore us to the status on our abilities that, irrespective of whether our current new abilities such as "The Familiar" can be modified, is most similar to the status we had prior to whatever initiation process that resulted in a change to our preexisting abilities?

I was able to investigate the casino and surrounding area while Roland and Alastor handled the body. Zack has pictures of the scene as needed.
Starting off- I followed a bloodtrail from the sauna area to the casino. But in hindsight I believe the trail was originally from the casino to the sauna. Starting in the area closest to Kaito's body and moving out there was a fanning of pink fluid that appeared to have been at least attempted to be cleaned up. There was also splaterings of the same pink fluid around the area. There was no clear pattern to it, and it did not seem to be a spray. Checking the fluid and based on finding these vials in one of the machines it seems to be food coloring.
In the same area I discovered a note claiming Kaito as the Fabricator.
Moving out I came to the game machines which I found with the screens smashed, and where I found the food coloring containers. One of the card tables was also attacked, having a slash in the fabric, and the second table had two hands of cards- I dont recognize the game but the pictures show them in case there is something of note to them.
Finally it found a small about of red blood mixed with pink. There was no smell of sweetness so I suspect this was not food coloring... and this blood lead me back to the original trail. I made sure to dab some up for our blood... experts... to check.

He's also brought the slot machine, which he carries over his shoulder and places down at podium 7, because honestly, he's by himself, he may as well have something next to him.]
All right, I brought photos of all the stuff in the casino. I basically followed Hubert everywhere for them...
[Something tells me that's not what people are going to be focusing on, Zack.]
Why not? They're important...

Whoever it is that killed Kaito must have planned things in advance and were very deliberate in their intentions as both the cut that killed him and the cut to his thigh were very deep and clean cuts. Nothing accidental about it.
[ He then placed a hand on his chest. ]
However, I am still trying to figure out what exactly happened with the odd bruising and the broken rib in his chest and why all the fingers on his one hand were broken.

The autopsy report says he died of exsanguination, so the crushing damage was probably... after. But... his hand....
[She really, really doesn't want to ask what if someone tortured him, because saying it would somehow make it real, but....
But what if?]
If you had an idea of what happened pre or post mortem, that... might narrow things down.

HANDWRITING CHECK
Now then! If all of you would be so kind as to write down the passages on our two notes and hand them to me, I will compare them to both your samples and to each other. I will, of course, write my own - which I would ask to be reasonably verified by someone else.
[So, he'll essentially be comparing the handwriting of both notes to each other, and then each note to each handwriting sample given by everyone who can at trial.]

wound and blood check
Alastor, Val. Any indication the blood sample isn't human? And everyone will need to be checked once again. You all certainly remember last time, so there should be no distractions. I will handle the men, if someone would be willing to cover the women. Be through. No reason to be shy at this point. Check under shoes, nails, hair, the creases of clothing for splatter as well.
[He will be quite rough with his checks. Sorry guys your getting icy hands in all your nooks. He will of course allow himself to be checked as well]

catherd!
The scene was disturbed by the Fabricator, I feel that we can assume. Likely the food coloring, since the pink blood was cleaned but NOT the coloring, and the note, if it truly did give their identity away and wasn't just used as bait to attack Kaito. There was a card game that was likely either staged or cheated for dramatic effect. This I also suspect was the Fabricator unless the culprit was trying to share some kind of message. The broken hand and fingers were not under the machine so either the culprit targeted them intentionally or the fabricator broken them later.
The wounds on Kaito would have killed him quickly and were done with skill. This means our killer was certainly well trained in the arts. The crushing of the body seems overkill, but we can not tell if it was done to hide the real cause of death or by the fabricator- though it was tilted with a wedge which would suggest it could not be easily moved by the one who tilted it down. The culprit was either injured or bloody for some other reason, leaving a small amount of red blood as they escaped down the hall, likely to wash up in the sauna/spa area.
My theory is the culprit lured Kaito down to the casino and ambushed him- if it was over cards or those were planted, in the end, doesn't matter. They maybe have struggled, which would explain the smashed machines and cut table, and perhaps even Kaito's struck leg, which may have incapacitated him so the killer could easily slide behind and slit his throat.
Any counter thoughts?

Handwriting Check the Second
If... if there's doubt on the origin of the blood, and it's possible that it came from the person who ran the first, then... it only seems wise to rejudge the results of the handwriting analysis.
Does everyone still have their samples?

EXAM FINALE - THE FINAL PROBLEM
[He slams his hands down on the podium, in order to bring everyone's attention to him, head lowered. He doesn't move or speak until the sound finishes ringing out, before he raises his head...
And sneers.]
Aaah, how wonderful! How absolutely splendid! After all this time, I was beginning to think you'd never muster up the courage to try and accuse me, you two bit detectives!
[Rising up, his entire demeanor has changed - from the helpful older man he was before, sometimes goofy...to someone that Radiates evil and vileness, like the lord of crime that he is.
For how could he not be evil, given Kaito's injuries?]
But, you will have to do better than that. I have only been bested by one man, and I intend to not let that go unchanged today! And I believe our exteemed host might allow me this one foible without being so cruel as to force a vote right away.
[Like an actor upon the literal stage that they are, he opens his arms wide, roaring out with a smirk-]
Then come, and tell me!
HOW DID THIS CRIME COME TO BE?

Re: VOTING
VOTING
It appears you are all certain of who has committed this crime. Perhaps it is time, then to see whether this is so-and put it to a vote.
Oh, and of course.
[The spotlights on the Strangers briefly flash on, only for all to face save one.]
You vowed to kill the one responsible for this, did you not, Akane Kuraskiki? Well. Do not let me deny you the chance for justice and vengeance once we're finished here. Let us hope you are correct, hmm?

All right.
Thank you, Zero.

EXECUTION: Cause You Cut Me Like A Knife (CW: torture)
So shall it be. The Napoleon of Crime-the Earthworm-has been found rightfully guilty of the murder of Kaito Momota. Are you ready for your final performance, Mr. Moriarty?
And Ms. Kurashiki. I know what you wish for in this moment. You shall have it; use it as I know you will. I am hardly one to judge, after all.
[The effect is immediate. Both Moriarty and Akane are schlllorped into the floor as the curtains open. Less than a minute later, both reappear on stage, covered in blood, the unknown figure with bright eyes watching the two as they stare at each other-and then Moriarty looks down at Akane's hands, his eyebrows rising up.
There is nothing in Akane's eyes as she bring up what she has in her possession: a handgun. She doesn't hesitate; she slowly walks over until she's less than a foot away, then fires almost point-blank into Moriarty's thigh, causing him to drop to the ground on one knee. She then waits, waits, a minute, two minutes, before she shoots his leg again. Two more minutes, and she gets his other leg, the one suppoting him upright, causing him to fall completely to the floor.
Is that shock in Moriarty's eyes? Perhaps. Whatever bravado, whatever evil was in his eyes is gone, replaced by...surprise? Concern? Fear? Then it is again replaced by pain as Akane shoots one arm, chunks blowing out around the elbow. As Moriarty lets out a cry, the second arm is shot. He is unable to move, now-not with parts of his limbs blasted out. He is, perhaps for the first time in a long time, truly helpless.
There is no pity in Akane's eyes, no reaction on her lips, as she slowly walks over and roughly shoves his bloody body, rolling it over so he's face up. So he can watch her take the gun up, pull the trigger-and shoot him in the chest. But not in the heart, oh no. Even this wound will not be fatal. Not yet. Not yet. She wants him to suffer first.
And he does. His body convulses from the pain and blood loss. He's hyperventilating. And still Akane's expression doesn't change. The kind and loving Akane is absent as she watches Moriarty writhe, clearly unable to die but unable to keep himself fully lucid, forced to be at her mercy for as long as she feels fit while his blood slowly starts to pool at her shoes.
Five more minutes pass. Six. Seven. Eight.
Finally, nine minutes after the chest shot, as Moriarty simply stares back at her with glassy eyes, himself wondering whether his actions truly were worth it--she empties the last four bullets into his forehead. There's not much left to look at, and in any case, it's only a few seconds more before Moriarty is already starting to be absorbed by the vines from the stage, Akane is schloooorrrrped back to her podium-and the theater doors open.]
Execution Complete. X-Passes of deceased players will now be announced. Please pay attention, as they will not be repeated after this announcement.
BEAR...GRAIL.
Thank you.
[There is a...rumble at this, and Moriarty immediately disappears entirely. Looks like someone isn't wholly happy about not having Kaito's body to go with his killer's. You might even feel those eyes behind the vines on the stage staring with a decidedly...unhappy light in their eyes.
So hurry along now, Strangers.
Ya done here.]
