Afterparty Buffet
[So, that trial sure happened, didn't it? And on nearly empty stomachs, no less. That's why people might catch Alastor headed for the kitchen as soon as they're out of the theater, obviously intent on making food. He's in there a while, actually, and the hallway outside of it smells strongly of some rather tasty food.
What he's up to will become clear when he goes around to tell people to visit the mess hall. There, he's set up a varied buffet on one of the tables, all of various foods easy to serve in small portions. This includes small slices of beef only very lightly seared on the outside, but also more fully cooked fare, and even a few fruit and vegetable dishes. Plus the requisite spread of alcohol, because it sure has been A Day, huh?
...Also, while Hermes obviously doesn't eat, he still gets the instructions to go to the mess hall. Huh.]

I'm a longsword, for example, and I can normally turn into one and back at will. Aoi's a pretty distinctive set, and should have the power of a pair of twin scimitars.
Of course, that raises the question of what happened to the souls inside the weapons. Aoi's are incessant chatterboxes.

[He sounds... surprisingly certain of this, for some reason.]

It doesn't match up with any Arm I'm familiar with...how are you so sure?

Of course, given that they altered us enough to give us new powers, that may no longer hold true.

[... which means "hopefully not a sword."]

Possibly not Ifrit, though. If anyone, that's Hermes.

[sure give her a body she can barely use and make her a weapon that demands using her body]

[Alastor didn't see her with her toy chainsaw man, but it's pretty similar - her passion.]

Yeah, I turn into it completely. I can move to an extent, and...honestly, your power would remind me of myself, if not for the telekinesis part. I can communicate telepathically, though not all Devil Arms can, and turning back is the same as turning into the sword.
Our powers evolving...is probably us managing to tap more of our Devil Arm's power. Which means I might have a bit of an idea of what mine would do.
MODS // Chainsaw Man manga spoilers [censored] // sundry Chainsaw Man violence and despairs
-She wants to control Chainsaw Man, of course, but becoming one with him had been a good option, she always dreamt of it. Either way she was connected to the incredible chaotic phenomenon that eliminated Devils, which always represented bad things. The second option was coming to her mind increasingly often as preferable to the third option, where she was inexplicably eliminated on this ship. That she was in a different world with a different system of fear and would never matter again, let alone be loved as she so diligently pretended to want. Isn't this what would eventually happen, when Chainsaw Man ate and digested her into his own molecules? She wouldn't have eyes, she'd be practically gone, but she'd be something. Why not his arm's iconic blade? If his sharp teeth can rip apart concepts from the very past in their own time - whatever those specifically were, she's furious to have forgotten them - why wouldn't this blade cut open a path back to their own world, where she'd finally make Conquest again? Instead of manipulating unworthy, pathetic toys that had the nerve to wander off and die before ever even getting close to her secrets? That glorious noise whenever the ripcord was pulled. The imitations she's been making of it are so pale.
And, well, she's thinking more and more that the others, who do trust her quite a lot and are generally susceptible to manipulation, really would deserve it if a mass execution or Chainsaw Man attack got them all killed. It's not hard to imagine that, either.-
[She undoes her tie and tugs it harshly aside, as she speaks clearly and evenly but for the first time ever in a voice that could be heard from as many as five meters away.]
Come save me, Chainsaw Man.
[As if the ripcord were pulled, turn her into the blade.]

She does feel a connection, though. A connection to something ancient, something hungry. There is an itch for blood. It is muffled as if walled off, but the connection to this Other, to the weapon, is there.
She has put her all into this effort, and can breach the gap just that much more. With it comes an understanding - Makima will see herself, surrounded by an assortment of floating weapons. She leaps into the air, the weapons moving freely in a whirling, chaotic, dangerous dance. She grabs a handle here, there, swinging and darting through the air as easily as any acrobat.
Makima has learned the Familiar's evolution.]

[Makima is standing there on her own two feet. Awkward.]
Sword.
[She puts her hand out and attempts to summon a Chainsaw Man red sword.]

[With the summoned sword in her hand, she tries to telekinetically move her tie out of her other hand through the air, while the sword vibrates on her palm. Can she do both at once now? Is she not forced to unsummon the weapon?]
This might make it a lot easier to cook. Knife and ingredients moving.

As long as she maintains the requisite intent, she is not forced to unsummon the weapon.]
