SING, O GODDESS

SING, O GODDESS

[The place that Zagreus brings them to is an abandoned house. Like the rest of Greece, at first the grass and plants are dead, withered. But only at first.

As everyone files into the garden, it starts to slowly come to life. flowers begin to bloom. Fruits and vegetables start to sprout from the soil. The trees begin to grow once more. Wheat stalks slowly pop up out of the ground. Wherever this is, it's clear that life is returning-and the gods are awakening.

It's probably best that they don't return to the underworld, to the House of Hades-but, if anyone wishes to, Charon has arrived with the dead from the previous rounds-now alive-and little baby Ayame. If anyone wishes to go there-though, why would anyone ever willingly go back to the House, knowing you-know-who is probably awake by now?-they can.

But for those who stay here, there is food and drink, wine and bread, fresh meat and ripe crudités. Talk. Plot. Say your goodbyes before you are SHIFTed back to your homeworlds.

Who knows? Maybe there are still some surprises left to be had. But, either way...it is a good day. The new moon will pass. The sun will rise.

The Game-or at least, this variation of it-is over.]

((OoC: And with this, Round 7 is complete! Thank you everyone who participated-we hope you enjoy the aftermath, and stay tuned for the SHIFT Meme and HMD!))

[The Butterfly stays.

Two more land on his shoulders, and a few more on his legs.

Moriarty says nothing.]

Gah! I am not dead yet! Moriarty your horde seems determined to drink me dry.

[of course hubert would know of butterflies as carrion beasts before anything else]

Are you certain about that?

[Said in the perfect 'shit eating grin' voice.]

Perhaps you should check to make sure you've not sprung a leak somewhere! Wahahahaha!

[A butterfly extends its proboscis, as if to punctuate (ha) his point.]

[he grumbles, shooing the bugs away- yet still not hurting them even with his grousing. Such was his nature]

If anything this is the least leaky I've been in years.

[They flutter off, finally, though one gets hit and disappears in a puff of blue...scales? magic? who fucking knows.]

Well then! You've nothing to fear, hm?

[He laughs, then sighs, a bit contently.]

...So. Will you be coming with myself and Akane, then?

[he doesnt respond for a long moment, though it's clear it's a matter of gathering his words more than anything else.]

Yes. I think I will be. There is no going back- the Empire burns, and my family is safer with me gone. It is for the best that Hubert von Vestra remain well and dead- I trust my last gambits and Claude von Riegen's nature will see Fodlan towards a future Edelgard could be proud of.

But... even if Hubert is dead, I find I, whoever I am now, wishes to live. I've seen too much of what is outside the Goddess' reach. Drank from the proverbial cup, so to speak. How could I not want to learn more of it? Even if the man I was would be disgusted by such selfishness?

...You have left the cave, and cannot conceive of returning to explain to the others what you have seen.

[Hubert most likely won't understand - it's Plato's allegory of the Cave, after all, and he comes from a very different world - but Moriarty says it with a knowing chuckle all the same.]

Humanity has progressed so far that it's quite dazzling, I agree. Central heating and Air conditioning are modern marvels, to say nothing of indoor plumbing - something we had during my time, but it's only gotten much better as time goes on!

[Like, his era still at best had clawed bathtubs and shit, even if they had gas-powered heating (that you often had to pay for by the hour) and the basics of indoor plumbing.]

Still, there is...something freeing with realizing your past chains no longer hold you down, isn't there?

[...And his voice sounds like he's speaking from experience.]
