WAKE UP TIME

WAKE UP TIME

[The first thing you feel when you wake up is...nothing.

You don't feel much different at all when you wake up, no doubt from a very pleasant sleep, even if you may not remember what you dreamed of. If anything, you would have thought it was another normal day.

That thought would have vanished the moment you took in your surroundings. This is not your bed, this is definitely not your bedroom, and well, this is definitely not your home. In fact, this place isn't anywhere you've been before.

Before you can question anything much further, your cell phone starts beeping, flashing a message on the screen for a good several minutes, before flashing your profile, also for a few minutes. Yes, now you have a Title, and a power, even if you've never had one before. And yes, you have a cell phone. Even if you didn't have one, and don't know what the hell a cell phone is. You get the feeling you'll need to keep it on you.

The profile fades back to the home page of your phone - don't worry, you can still access your profile, and everyone else's, on that little lime icon if you really want - even though you have so many questions now. (The help button may... attempt to be helpful in that case.) Where the hell are you? Why do you have a Title? And can you get out?

Perhaps, if you're strong enough. But, in any case.

Welcome, Titled.

There are fifteen strangers in this place.]

((OOC: Welcome!

If you haven't filled out the resident profile or current residents information yet, please do so!))

[Magical community...? Is she serious? Well...he should probably just humor her for the sake of gathering information.]

I would be relieved if it does turn out to be something so symbolic, but seeing as there's no addendum informing us that we're only expected to pretend to murder one another...I have my doubts.
theirmagic: (48)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-26 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
So would I. I have to hope, at least. Even if it's not... s-surely no one would kill anyone, right?

[ She's... very concerned. ]

And if nothing else, someone is definitely doing something, giving people powers like these.

[ Her frown deepens. ]

I'd... much rather just have my regular magic then whatever this barbed wire stuff is. I could generate much safer fields.
foolishjustice: (This is my justice-!)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-26 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah...that...have you tested it yet? I admit, I have yet to verify whether or not the profiles are truthful about us having these abilities...
theirmagic: (1)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-26 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
... No, I hadn't thought to, really, it sounded like almost any other spell I could do, really? Bringing barbed wire to life is practically... entry-level magic, but I suppose I could.

[ She just. Steps back a bit, makes sure no one is too close and uses her supposed power. And lo, it manifests as directed for a short burst, about eight seconds, before it dissipates. Just a barrier of barbed wire--she shapes it into a big star symbol. ]

It would seem to be honest. What a sorry excuse for a replacement for my wand, honestly...
foolishjustice: (I hadn't even considered it!)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-27 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[He...didn't expect that to actually work. The idea of magic working in the real world...it seems absurd, and yet. Well, he might as well test his own supposed power. He could really use some coffee right now, anyway. Particularly a hot cup of sweetened Leblanc coffee...and as he focuses on the idea of the drink, a slightly steaming cup of a black liquid appears in his hands.]

Ah...I wasn't actually certain hat would work. Although...unless you happen to have scraped a knee or something similar recently, it seems unwise to test the other aspect of my stated power at the moment.
theirmagic: (56)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-27 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That is surprisingly useful. Hang on, pulling out her phone... and, profiles... right, yours is supposed to heal, isn't it? ]

Well, I could give myself a paper cut, or perhaps get a knife and make a small poke to my finger? We could test it that way without too much damage.
foolishjustice: (Strange isn't it?)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-27 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you certain? It is my power, so if one of us is to suffer the inconvenience if it doesn't work, it ought to be me. Besides, some of my hobbies result in minor injuries quite frequently, so I'm used to dealing with small scratches from time to time.
theirmagic: (W-wahahaha...)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-27 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't mind. I could just cast a spell to stitch it right up--

[ And she, again, out of habit reaches for a thing that isn't... at her hip, and then lets out a big sigh. ]

... O-oh. Right. I don't have my wand. Well, still! I don't mind. I used to get scrapes plenty often as a child.
foolishjustice: (Shall I explain?)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-28 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
[...Okay, he's a little less dubious about the whole 'magic' thing after having conjured a cup of coffee from thin air. He's still kind of confused how it's possible, though.]

Still, I would feel bad if it didn't work and you had to tolerate the injury for my curiosity.
theirmagic: (32)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-28 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I've fought magical beasts and gotten injured far worse than a small cut. Trust me, you haven't quite lived until you've been nearly eaten by a large sapient carnivorous plant.

[ She chuckles a bit. ]

Really, I don't mind. I would rather do it than risk one of the others here, including yourself.
foolishjustice: (So I see...)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-28 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
If you're...absolutely certain. I hope you don't mind that what I've made is black coffee? I imagined it with my own tastes in mind.
theirmagic: (104)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-28 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I can certainly handle it. I'm a witch. I've drank potions that tasted far worse than simple black coffee.

[ She smiles. ]
foolishjustice: (So I see...)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-28 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I hope it doesn't actually taste bad. I had my favorite cafe's house blend in mind when I created it.

[Granted, his own coffee brewing skills are nothing special...so he's not sure it won't actually be just ordinary coffee.]

Ah...do you have anything suitable for...inflicting a small injury?
theirmagic: (PLEASE I DON'T WANT TROUBLE.)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-28 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well... no. But I'm sure we could get something from one of the stores! There's a kitchen...

[ Right??? ]
foolishjustice: (I hadn't even considered it!)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-28 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Please keep in mind that we're yet unsure if this will even work properly, let alone the limits of what constitutes a minor injury. It wouldn't be wise to risk anything that would seriously inconvenience you, or put you at risk of an infected injury.
theirmagic: (35)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-28 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
There's a pharmacy, I believe? I think that should solve the problem of any cuts becoming infected. Please, I'm not that incapable. It isn't as though I'm going to make a huge cut or anything. A small one should be plenty.

[ So you know. ... Although, honestly, she also just cares that little... ]
foolishjustice: (So I see...)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-28 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
I recall passing through a 'novelty weapons' section. If they're genuine and sharpened, there ought to be something there a bit better suited for precision than kitchen equipment. A serrated blade would cause more damage than a smooth one, regardless of how well it's made.
theirmagic: (68)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-28 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... I saw that, I think. I was concerned you might get hurt, though.

[ More like, "concerned someone might notice I can handle weapons way too well". ]
foolishjustice: (It's a pleasure to meet you.)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-28 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
You shouldn't concern yourself too much. I enjoy playing darts, so I'm accustomed to handling sharp objects.

[And he will stick to the pointed ones, because he doesn't want to come up with an excuse for why he can handle a sword.]
theirmagic: (114)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-28 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see. Yes, I'm used to handling similar magical tools. It's standard training, in case of emergencies.

[ THIS IS A LIE. A BIG FAT LIE. It shows a little in the wobble on her smile. She is a bad, bad, BAD liar. ]

Then, do you mind if we go there?
foolishjustice: (May I help you?)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-28 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh Ursula. Someone needs to tell you that the best lies have a grain of truth...he really does play darts.]

I wouldn't have suggested it if I minded.
theirmagic: (123)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-28 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
All right then. ... Hopefully you can carry that?

[ Thoughtful glance to that thing you conjured, friend. ]
foolishjustice: (It's a pleasure to meet you.)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-29 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
I think I'm dexterous enough to carry a full cup of coffee, handedness aside.

[Because dexterous and sinister, get it? Yeah...]
theirmagic: (132)

[personal profile] theirmagic 2017-11-29 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Well then...

[ Nothing to it but to do it. She still won't walk very fast, though. When they get there, she finds herself frowning. ]

H-honestly, this is a bit much... why would they put something like this here...
foolishjustice: (So I see...)

[personal profile] foolishjustice 2017-11-29 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's at least right about being able to manage it. And once they're at their destination, he can set the cup down on a shelf.]

I think their reasoning should be obvious, given their...expectations.
