THE SECOND TRIAL


[Soon enough, once the final clues have been uncovered, the telltale DING echoes through the Mall. The elevator in the food court has opened once more, and it will not close until all of the remaining Titled have gotten in it. And, as before, a thought comes to them, the realization that they needed to get on the roof, and get to the bottom of this.

Soon enough, everyone is back on the roof, and they will find that their platform arrangement has changed to reflect those who had died since last week. The podiums of Dio, Torri, and Yuuri are each all lowered and covered with white cloths. Otherwise, everyone else's platforms also have food and drinks, just like last week.

It's probably still not much comfort, especially with what everyone knows must happen. They must look at the evidence they have gathered, and once more, they will have to figure out the truth, putting their lives on the line to do so. Hopefully, their luck will hold.

So, get ready.

The trial for the murders of Torri Feiji, The Bliss, and Yuuri Katsuki, The Future, has begun.]

[There is another DING - the elevator doors open again as the Life Coach runs out of them, late with what appears to be a hot cocoa from MYJL in her hand.]

[She takes a sip.]

[Why is everyone around her a dingus, even in serious situations, except for the other captives?]

Since you're offering help with evidence, can you tell us what kind of force it would take to shatter the guardrail glass on the stairs? And if you know anything about our powers, how much control would Yuuri have had over his direction while using his?

Sure thing! Let's see... I totally don't think it would take superpowers to shatter that glass. Like, a really good punch or kick would be enough. Though, I guess if it was a punch, the killer would have to be super duper short since the glass broke pretty low! Like, as short as us. [She throws some mock punches to demonstrate, though they are very delicate since she doesn't want to accidentally punch Joey.]

As for the Future's power... Like, he's an ice skater. I'm totally sure he knows how to control his body when he's, like, going fast?

[She tilts her head.]

But also, when his power evolved, it like, changed a little. He was able to teleport. So if he was going for the stairs, I think he'd, like, be better off doing that.

[Britt cringes. He doesn't like to think about it, but...]

Not even Karma would be able to hit someone who can teleport.

So Yuuri probably didn't use his power...you said the glass broke really low. Is it possible Yuuri broke it while going over the guard rail, or that he went through it, or are we talking someone specifically hitting the glass? I can't really tell from what's in XAMINE.

[Coach is taking another sip of cocoa as she fiddles with the picture in the phone.]

This is totally not big enough for it to be an entire person going through it. If you ask me, like, I think it'd be specifically someone kicking it. Someone with, like, really strong legs if they were able to do it!

[ ...Croix is gritting her teeth at that. Um. Really strong legs? ]

[ Whoa whoa whoa--Ursula just gives her a glance and... you really don't think she'd kill the girl she was teaching, do you, Croix?

But she's worried others might think you did. ]

[ ... Okay let's get something out of the way. Deep breath. ]

If I was going to kill someone, I probably would have to hold them using my power. Especially Yuuri, considering we know he could get away. My power conjures barbed wire, so if someone was held down with something like that... there would be some pretty obvious signs on the body.

[lifecoach]

[The Life Coach waves her hands a bit at that.]

W-well, there's totally a lot of athletic types here, right? Even the victim was.

So. There was a fight. The culprit hit the glass a few times, and then knocked Yuuri over the top. Unless Yuuri hit the glass, but he had no reason to be kicking at the glass, even if he's a figure skater and probably had the leg musceles for it...or unless this is one of the red herrings. And he didn't have any injuries besides hitting the ground and having his...throat cut.

[Ugh.]

Are we sure THIS evidence isn't fabricated? How can we be sure there was a struggle that broke the glass in that way? I want to hope it's legitimate, but...

...Actually. Was there glass beneath him? It might not be related to Yuuri, but Torri. She took the photo in the food court, which means she had to go upstairs to escape.

Yeah....yeah, it could have been from fighting or running after Torri.

LC, is it possible to tell which side of the glass was cracked? Like, was someone standing on the stairs next to it, or did someone shoot at it from a distance and hit the side facing the gap?

[lifecoach]

[LC pokes her chin and tilts her head.]

True. If there was really a struggle, he would totally show more minor signs of it, right? And kicking the glass that hard can't be good for your foot.

Yuuri's foot isn't injured. Neither is Torri's. Or any of our's.

This excludes everyone except for Goro Akechi and those he is close to. In which case, he'd still likely be in the know because he'd be covering for them.

[ She... hates this conclusion actually? ]

Can you explain how Torri's powers would have worked? Especially if they hit a person.

Like, you got it! [The Life Coach bounces on one foot, posing.]

If someone hit one of The Bliss's water orbs, it would like, splash them! So they'd get wet. It would also probably, like, hurt a little as it bounced them off. It's a heavy amount of water, even if it, like, floats.

I have a question, as well. Given the position and nature of the fracture, is it probable that Katsuki-san's back was broken from impact with the floor?

[He's also trying to remember if those cuts on his arms looked bloody enough to be pre-mortem, because they can't really take anything for granted at this point.]

[LC nods.]

I think that's totes probable.

[....Also. They were possibly not that bloody.]

Coach-chan, I know you probably can't tell us the details, but if I can ask you one question...

We have someone tampering with the murder scenes. Did they interfere at all with this one?

[lifecoach]

Umm... probably.

There's a couple things that look wrong, and if they did it even once with what's at stake, they must be totally determined.

[Weak chuckle as she just puts her hands on her cheeks and looks away. This is a dark moment for everyone, but the recognition is still nice so she'll just quietly look like she's been patted on the head.]
